    • @antonriniti9653
      @antonriniti9653  Před rokem +6

      Well thank you. Yes I am quite proud of the performance as a whole. Unlike most performers, I did not go in with the goal of simply Fooling them. I wanted to show younger magicians how to put together an act with a developed character, consistent internal logic, and patter to keep the trick moving forward. I believe far too many performers, simply come up with as many random effects but the performance lacks a logical sequence or even reason for performing in the first place.

      You said it. You have to at least have known where to look for confirmation, and even then - you have to admit you didn't really know until you looked.

      @antonriniti9653  Před 4 lety +11

      @@KennedyGoodkey Well stated my friend. When performing for a live audience, it is much easier to misdirect as there is a lot happening. On TV, you have a fixed frame that does not allow misdirection plus the ability to slow down and rewatch. In your example, if Cooperfield had the ability to watch it again, he would bust them. In fact, they would probably bust all of us. Good thing people do not have DVRs in their brain

    I seriously re watch this once a week, it’s fantastic. Some magicians do comedy really well but then the tricks are gimmicky, and then some do the tricks perfect but the comedy falls flat because it’s not natural to them. You pull off both together so perfect, and it feels completely natural. It’s one of those acts that doesn’t come across as overly rehearsed and stiff, it’s more like you just had an idea for a trick and did it right then and there. Obviously I know you’ve bloodied your hands practicing every day but you pull it off like it’s just a natural gift.

      @antonriniti9653  Před 5 lety +2

      No wonder the video is getting so many views lately...thanks :) Yes that has been a signature trick in my act for over 20 years, but to be honest with you, the "routine" you watch and re-watch was completely new for me. It was a pain-staking process to decide which tricks and moments to include so the performance as a whole has an internal logic. I am huge proponent in maintaining the credibility of the character and basing all decisions off of that. Many have asked, and the story is absolutely true. In fact, I went on to hustle him a few more times including an epic scam with a chess board which I will have to tell on this forum. Now, I do remember one time that he beat me but rather than paying him the cash I gave him back the watch I had stolen off his wrist without his knowing. Then he looked at me and said, "I thought I finally beat you only to realize you got me again !!"

    Excellent routine. Great blend of comedy, magic (gimmicks and sleight of hand), and skilled pool game. Very entertaining and unique.
    One thing I especially like about it is that the cue makes for a much more natural, logical prop than the common card sword. Much better fit. Awesome performance. Hope I can catch you at the Magic Castle sometime.

      Thanks Benjamin....I perform at the Castle every other month. Yes I think it is imperative for an act to have an internal logic. Everything starts with the character and then you develop your effects, through-line, patter, attitude etc. Glad you can appreciate the work that goes into a professional routine

    It's well done. It is interesting they paint out the Pool Cue though. For about 4-6 frames.

      Hi Rob thanks for the compliment. While the show always does editing I did insist to keep the “exposed camera view” for those who want to know how it all works.

    I find it funny how, the "card appearing on the stick" was rather confusing for P&T , but, as i know almost nothing about classic magic tricks i instantly understood the sleight of hand(which was awesome by the way).
    (Also Cheers to this mad lad which has been replying to comments even now)

      Well the "Mad Lad" is Chef Anton himself. Oddly with Penn and Teller, they spoke for over 10 minutes after the routine as they were confused as to whether it was done with "sleight of hand' or a mechanical device which does it automatically as is the normal way of performing that effect. Sometimes they outthink themselves but in this case I let them off the hook before they had to commit to one way or another

    The second time I watched I looked for all tricks and still enjoyed it.
    Great act.

    There’s some serious skills in being a hustler that doesn’t get shot. A lot of tact in making someone smile while they hand their life savings to you lol. I can see why being an entertainer and conman can be one in the same.

    It's a shame that the most entertaining and fun tricks like this one don't pass and don't recieve the credit they deserve, because they are based on classic moves, that P&T knows so well, yet the most blunt, soulless or even annoying cheap tricks can win, because P&T don't pay full attention, or they don't expect for modern hightech gadgets...
