My guess:
Master of sleight-of-hand Teller didn't actually put the phone into the bucket. That was misdirection for the audience's benefit. I think he pocketed the phone, and sealed it in the plastic bag while in his pocket. He then brought it out during the fish sequence and quickly buried it in the ice as he dumped it out. I think the fish already had a slit in it's belly, so the phone in the ice was shoved up into the fish during the head-cutting part, so it could pop out in the end.

I was hoping she had posted the video online. I was onstage with them in vegas for a trick and was 100% not in on it and have no idea how it was done. Great show btw

*Spoiler Alert*
It`s doable without actresses. Here`s what I think happened:
At 5:50 they hear the ringtone. At 7:44 Teller slips the phone in his pocket after catching it in the bucket.
They had a wireless speaker in the box from the start of the show. By 8:33 somebody offstage has had time (2-3 minutes) to set up the box`s speaker to play the ringtone.
Sometime between 9:20 and 10:00 (probably when he walks behind Penn) Teller slipped the iphone inside the fish from the bottom.

@wanderer1955 I didn't upload the entire episode so it might not breach youtube's fair use policy. Also the name doesn't have the name of the channel in the title and it is up the the rights holder to find it to apply for it to be taken down.
@greginess7878 The phone in the cup is not her phone... Penn puts her phone on the back of the elton John cut out....
Guys, there's other people that posted their videos of when they had the trick done on them. Leave them alone.

@181Cade I was thinking the same about the elton switch, but I don't think the girl was in on it. They had another old iphone. They just had to pick someone who was holding up an old iphone. (standard ringtones.) Penn switched the phones when he put his hand behind elton. Then Elton and phone taken away. How it then ended up in the fish, in the box (if that is what actually happened) I don't know.

it's like the bill in lemon/orange/kiwi and such, just using a loadable fish:)
if you pause at 09:18, you can seen the back of the container. The bottom is not completly flat, the fish got put inside the box through here.
it would be nice if you put stephanies vid at the end

Where was this filmed? It gives the impression that it's supposed to be in the UK, but the audience -- Stephanie, the woman sitting next to the box -- sound like they have American accents. Are Penn & Teller trying to fool US?

k, so i understand how they get the phone offstage, see 6:49 for clue, but i have no idea how they get the phone from offstage into the box

@RaymondCorrigan Actually, I take part of that back. A wireless speaker wouldn't be impossible to time, but just too darn risky. I'd say it's actually the phone making the noise inside the fish inside the box all the time, cause if not you'd risk having to fake a crazy ringtone that no one had ever heard before. And you couldn't play it from the phone, because then people would also hear where the phone actually is. Better just sneak the phone in there and let it make the noise itself ;)
oh...haha! When Penn puts the necklace over elton john he drops the iphone in a thing round the back and pulls out an identical iphone, thats why its only done with an iphone...then some guy sticks the phone in a fish :P

Why is everyone so interested in seeing the video from her phone....... this was an easy trick to figure out. We all know how he got her phone from the cup. They obviously had a speaker in the box where they transmitted the sound of the ringing phone to.... and finally, it was simple slight of hand that teller did to pretend to take the mobile out of the fish. God knows he had possession of it long enough to do it. I also loved how Penn kept saying 'cell phone' instead of 'mobile'...Classic!
