Bold strategy on the part of the fungus, but it does allow the weaker infected to infect people.

It’s like a tank player in a video game

Even as they escape, there's still so many infected swarming out. I found that so terrifying
Also it shows that the woman in charge might be good at overthrowing, but she is too narrow minded to be an effective leader, more interested in vegenance and ignoring the area that opened up for the infected
Ya, they endless amount.
I do kind of wonder how FEDRA got all of them into the tunnels, though. Granted, it took years for them to do it, but that’s a massive operation.
It was terrifying indeed as they swarmed out from underground
In an interview it was either a writer or director said in that sequence they wanted to showcase how the infected managed to overthrow cities. When you watch you can imagine how they tore through military defenses
Scariest part is we don’t see the Bloater die. It tanked 2 whole magazines of 5.56 without even bleeding. Just a few flakes off its armor flicked off.
Yes, the bloater is still out there, we might see them again in the second season
@@akbarwibowo7445honestly I can understand why they never fought with the infected as much in the show and avoiding at all costs due to how terrifying they are in terms of speed and violence. It’s funny because in real life 5.56x45 will go through 3/8 mild steel plates at that distance and not to mention all the soft targets gotta love Hollywood for the entertainment.

@@MrKadirdemirin one of the episodes, the commander highlighted to the female leader that the city's foundations, sewers and buildings, were crumbling due to years of no maintenance and the infected living underground and fungus or something spreading. It was only a matter of time before the city fell from within with the sewers being compromised.
@@MrKadirdemir You see them running towards the city at the end of the scene.
Cars would get to the inhabitated zone quicker than the infected, they'd be able to alert people so they can start getting out of the city.
Some people probably wouldn't be able to get out in time, but I'd guess a good portion would escape, although all they had built would be lost

Y'know, you're right. I feel like the Bloater and I would click together.
Bloater has a really awesome dad bod.
Hes probably hung
People have already started saying how much they want to fuck the Bloater now after seeing the actor
The way that Bloater crawled it's way out of that hole alone with the runners, crawlers and clickers was so epic!!! 🔥🔥🔥
I just sort of thought it was funny because it was like the fungus was like, Oh boy! Time to bring out the big guns!
Crawlers? Pretty sure they don't exist, and that when they say so it's a joke
The fire in the background like it's literally emerging from Hell
Its size paired with it's sound and the weight of it's bulking steps is reminiscent of the Trex breaking through the wire fences so FUCKING AWESOME!
I know!!!
Dude sacrifices himself for that woman to live and she spits on his grave over her vendetta and gets herself killed moments later
It's actualy a perfect demonstration of how emotion can totally override a human being's survival instinct - especially when your talking about people's need to revenge/vengeance. Another classic example is Deniro's character at the end of Michael Mann's "Heat", where (spoiler warning), he was scot free with with a bunch of cash and what was shaping up to be the love of his life , but when provided the choice to save himself and have a long and happy life with so much money that he'd be set for life, or he could risk EVERYTHING by going back for revenge instead. And sadly he chose the latter . Similar to the chick in this scene.
@@8301TheJMan Also reminds me of Imhotep from the mummy series. Everyone hates ankh-sunamun for leaving him, but she told him not to fight scorpion king and choose her. They had wealth and youth and power anyways. His revenge was what did him in.

Dude, how big was that nest they disturbed? They just kept coming, lol. Even at the end of the scene, they're still pouring out of that hole one after the other. No wonder people avoid the infected zones like the plague. They had a small and reasonably well equipped army and they still got overrun.
They needed 50 cal. Or 20mm auto cannons. Or grenade launchers.
All they had were light arms.
@@VashtheStampede007 In the scene, if you pay enough attention, you can see a good number of the infected die before the line broke. I think if they had trained for an event like this (unlikely, I know), they could have figured out how to deal with the infected. I mean, it's not like this kind of event was off the books. FEDRA and the KC Resistance knew how cordyceps worked, and that the federalists pushed the infected underground and hadn't actually killed them. They had the option to brainstorm ideas for this kind of thing happening during operations like: sounding a retreat, suppressing while others reloaded, carrying explosives to chuck into the hole, always having someone ready to drive the cars away, leaving a reserve force in the QZ, simply backing away from the damned hole for more space! Honestly, these rebels are real fucking stupid. Imagine using your entire damned army to hunt down just one man and a kid when you've already dealt with most of the FEDRA loyalists!

My excitement to see the bloater was unmatched to my family's reaction. It made it even better when 1, it was the like the animation in the game, and 2, that it was Tommy's voice actor. The whole show was great to see.
It killed his voice actor
I did like that they didn't sugarcoat the Brothers, and while they DID do some stuff differently (some of which were not as well done in the game) the Bill and Frank scene along with Sam and Henry were still very well done.
(The only thing that I think the show did better was the Bill and Frank episode, that shit was beautiful.)
Absolutely terrifying, this unstoppable horde coming at you and no matter how many bullets you fire they just keep coming.

The bloater was great, but honestly the flexible clicker child was the best infected here

As horrifying as the bloater is, it seems like one of the better deaths to have in this universe. I’d much rather have my head almost instantly ripped off than to be bitten/beaten to death by a horde of infected/clickers

When joel was sacred to death when he saw the infected girl entering into the van ellie was in was super amazing 😢 the fear in his eyes damn
The scariest part is knowing that ALL the infected will eventually become this stage at even for the most successful survivors! And that ain’t even the final stage! Just imagine them ALL being bloaters!
This is not true, because as you see the bloater is MASSIVE! Most infected die by either getting killed or by starvation before ever reaching this stage. Only a very BIG strong person capable to survive for years and probably with enough fat reserves will reach this stage. For most the final stage is clicker before dying and the fungus spreads out on the walls and ground.
well their mutation is extremely rare since infected usually die from starvation or people killing them before they can turn into bloaters
Only especially large people could turn into bloaters or shamblers. Regular sized people could only become clickers, if they made it that far.
At that point it seems the bloater is more about just ripping people apart than spreading the fungus...?
@@thurnishaley24 Wrong. Bloaters are rare as they take Years to fully form, their size is due to years of the fungi growing around it, creating an Armor. Clickers in-game, canonically take about a year to develop. So any infected that can survive years will transform into a bloater
Honestly, I'd just shoot myself if I saw these things charging out of the ground. I ain't fighting things that crawled out of the ground as if they came from hell itself.
For me: the time I see more than a whole army of clickers + the bloater I would steal a car and drove off or run away and never look back and if I was in front position I would go All the way in the back

I’ve never thought about it until recently with how fucked KC is now. Fedra is gone, idk how many of the rebels are left now nor how dense the population is. But no matter what everyone is definitely screwed
They think they're safe. No infected until now, and almost no one else in the city. The gate is probably open
Especially when those assholes left the gates open as a sign of anti-FEDRA defiance.
AND they left the gates of the QZ open after overthrowing FEDRA.
So yeah, they're doomed.
Imagine people in the QZ knowing what is coming for them. They must heard all the shooting, since there was no noise pollution whatsoever. And then all of a sudden gunfire stops and you hear the swarm getting closer, understanding you have maybe minutes left to live.
@@jedrzejrakoczy6059 there would be almost 0% survival chance, I'll just imagine myself in the QZ with all the other people listening to the gunshots knowing that we would all be dead
One thing that bugs me is with all that noise happening around the clicker, it just so happened to stick it's head into the car with someone making no noise at all.
that is a good point but ya know.. plot
I think the show established that the infected are able to sense whether or not someone nearby is infected. Like the scene with Tess where the stalker seemed to know she was beginning to turn and accelerated the process with his mouth tentacles. Maybe the clicker somehow sensed the infection in Ellie's body and how she hasn't yet turned and came after her to "help".
If they do the 2nd season like how they did the 2nd game, You're gonna see a LOT of that.
The bit at 3:17 gave me chills I wouldn't just be standing there like that lol haha but still heroic gotta hand it to him
Like how this ties into my two favorite headcannons on the infected:
1.The cordyceps removes the natural mental limiters we have in our brain. Aka, when you preform an action like a bicep curl, you aren't using your full strength to do it, partly because of the energy cost, and partly because if you used your full energy all the time, you'd snap bones or tear muscles. The fungus in their brains doesn't care, it just wants it's puppet to find food and new hosts, so everyone besides Runners and wall units are maxed out all the time, which is why kid sized units can pin an adult
And 2
Bloaters are formed from big people, either in height or girth, that also had enough food when they were growing, either from victims or other humans hooked up to a cordyceps network, that meant it keeps the cordyceps fed enough to lean to a tank form instead of a wall form
0:27 Sam stands up to follow his brother because that’s what he normally does in any other given situation. He couldn’t hear the conversation between him and Ellie for him to remain behind. I thought that pretty cool the directors added something like that.
Okay, now that's cool that the bloater did the kill from the game.
This is mother nature's way of revenge on humans
I'm GENUINELY surprised there isn't a cult in this series that has that as their core beliefs, genuinely I'm shaking my head.
@@connerthewubbzler1062well David kinda admired the infecteds, but it's not really a cult, like in Days Gone
@@francescacastronovo647 Wait, There was a cult in Days gone?
(Lmao, that's unfortunate) Do they attack large settlements and force people to disperse and diverge so that cities can never be rebuilt again? (If so, that's 100% what I was thinking for a cult in TLOU universe.)
@@connerthewubbzler1062 well days gone's infecteds can't just infect people, so the cult basically believes that God sent the "freakers" (actually name:furiosi) to eradicate every "imperfect" human on earth to make the world a better place. So they just act like zombies to make God understand that they're in his side, wich means that they also slaughter people and send hordes to destroy camps. Days Gone is extremely underrated, it has an amazing voice acting, especially in Italian where the caratchers just feel like real people having real conversations, that's why this cult having beef with the protagonist in particular for killing hordes (since zombies can't multiply in any way, once they kill them all the world is safe) gives this effect that you really feel hunted
I love the detail at 1:25-1:30 of an infected falling down as it climbs out and gettibg run over by infected as before its able to get up
I read somewhere the reason they’re so few infected in the show is because many of them have died out by now from starvation or the weather. when I think about it, colder countries like Russia, Scandinavia, Scotland, Canada, and Alaska probably safe because they get freezing cold winters
U realize it’s not a show where the main focus is killing infected/bandit? Unlike the videogame, where u have a lot of fight with infected and people, because a videogame needs gameplay. U read some bullshit and believed to it like an idiot
Well, in the second game at the beginning, you can see many of them already dead for the winter, but this things also can hide inside the buildings and survive from the cold, so those countries are not worst as US but by far same as fucked.
Most infected are in urban areas
That would be an interesting aspect, but I feel like it also dwindles the urgency of a cure. I have considered that heavily, like areas that are more isolated (like New Zealand or Hawaii) probably stand a chance, but with the inclusion of the wheat spread (The reason the pandemic was...well, a pandemic), there is a chance that nowhere is safe.
this sounds like mostly nonsense. i'm pretty sure they just decided to focus more on the human elements of the series since the infected are better suited for the action-packed video game. That and showing the infected is expensive. I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing that they focused more on the humanity side of things but i do wish they included more infected into the narrative every now and then.
You can actually pinpoint the exact moment, things went south for Sam and Henry

I been rewatching clips all week
I just noticed this upon watching again, during that whole battle, the infected are pouring out of the sinkhole at a constant rate, how many of them are down there? Fuckin terrifying.
That’s what I said
In the behind the scenes they said they wanted to show just how humanity fell so fast. There’s literally hundreds pouring out of the tunnel at the end which goes to show that humanity 25 years later still has them swarming around imagine the first few months after the outbreak man…. Fuck that

the rebels are beyond stupid, the second the infected started crawling out the ground you know you cant hold them off there in the open, you need to call for an immediate retreat back behind the walls, sure youll lose some men but its better than losing all men, also the guy telling her to run died pointlessly, he seemed like the most competent soldier they have, his death didnt even buy her anytime he died straight away, he would have been better off leading her to a car then driving off

In the game, 20 years later we are introduced to FEDRA as the dudes in charge of keeping people safe at the cost of them being authoritian and executing anyone that is either infected or not compliant. Not only do they disappear after the first part of the game but in last of us 2 you see other groups of people like the Wolves overthrowing the FEDRA.
The explanation for that sinkhole is that in the ground there are utility tunnels, AND FOR SOME REASON FEDRA decided that the best course of option is to TRAP every single infected person in those tunnels, festering for months upon months and then we the audience are supposed to be surprised about why there is an entire horde of infected charging at the rebels.
If only that was a voice from Mortal Kombat saying Finish Him & the bloater rips his head off & then someone should say “Fatality” Bloater wins Flawless Victory!
