20 years after a pandemic has radically changed known civilization, infected humans run wild and survivors are killing each other for food, weapons; whatever they can get their hands on. I love that they hired the same actors who played as the clickers in the video game in this show. They understand how the infected act better than anyone
How did you find out about the actors?

it was a joke
@@K2-2478 it wasn't , they used the mo cap actors from the games. why are you speaking for other people?

Too bad the performances of the actual main characters were terrible. This show sucks.
@Umbra16 and yet you are here rewatching a scene
@@teddieprox2307 because this clicker scene was amazing. Duh.
The way Cordyceps adapts the human body to best suit it's needs has always been terrifying but fascinating to me. The fact the Cordyceps can realize it's host can no longer see due to the fungal growth, so it makes the host click with it's mouth to use echolocation is just horrifying.
Cordyceps doesn't realize human hearing isn't good enough for that
@@arthurmead5341 The fungal shape amplifies, and cordyceps seems to enhance it
@@triplemoyagames4195Certainly, but the fungus itself doesn't know anything. It just happens that the fungal strain which allows echolocation is the one that succeeded and beat out all the other ones.
@@keyabrade1861thank you for understanding evolution
@@arthurmead5341Humans can adapt to use echolocation. Some blind people have. It’s difficult and uncommon but possible, so with a fungus that can completely control the body, it would be pretty simple.
Having played the video game, I got chills when I heard that clicking noise again
I had a Last Of Us party during the 9 weeks of the show when we heard the Clicking sound the entire room went nuts we knew what was coming
My brother played full game. He’s doing last of us 2
Brook!!!😱 You feel that click deep in ur soul
Bro unlocked his PTSD
Same, when I heard that it gave me chills. And when I watched I the second time with my parents their reaction was priceless. They were absolutely horrified at its appearance
2:41 Pay attention to the clicker. It actually heard the light clink of the rounds as Joel removed them to reload his revolver. Neat little detail.
Good eye
i think it just turned, the infected (clicker's especially) have muscle spams, and i don't think it heard Joel's gun. Considering how they reacted to all of the other sounds, i doubt the clicker would've heard Joel and then just let him be.
@@OneAndOnlyMaple Either that, or it heard the noise of Joel taking the casings out of his revolver and went to investigate. In the game, if a clicker senses you, it will go to your last location, and if it doesn't find you, it loses you. So with that in mind, in my opinion anyway, it heard Joel start to reload, went to investigate, didn't hear Joel, likely heard something else, and walked off to investigate.
@@OneAndOnlyMaple
It definitely heard him, as it wandered right over him. The sound was just too brief for it to really zero in. And by the time it arrived Joel was done reloading.
I’m glad they’re not this sensitive in the game 😅
Love the way Joel tells Ellie “they’re blind but they can hear” while being silent and a short gesture
If I were in that situation, I’d be too freaked out to just open my mouth.
The subtitles are great too: “THEY CAN’T SEE, BUT THEY CAN HEAR.”
Too bad they had to kill him. I heard he was a real fungi.
They did a great job adapting this game. Feels claustrophobic and tense
Claustrophobic* bro
@@na6733this scene was mild compared to the bloater attack
@@na6733are you literally insane? the entire show is fantastic.
@@na6733 Your standard must lies on top of Mount Everest, to call this show mediocre.
the fact they can hear even a small gasp makes me respect joel and ellie more for somehow surviving that long lol
The most realistic part of this is actually the most frustrating: you can’t correctly aim when you are in such fear and dark place.
Plus there heads are armor plated to.
@@retro8696fungal growth would not stop a .357 magnum. Not a chance in Hell. Maybe, and I mean MAYBE, if it was really tough fungus, it could stop a .22LR round…but nothing bigger than that. Its biological matter, not Kevlar or steel.
The strumming of the guitar when Joel is reloading his gun is soooo good.
Thats a bowed string instrument my guy. Sounds like cello or violin.
I was just thinking this. It's such a small detail but adds so much tension to the scene.
Then you hear the clicks in a short but silent tone
They should’ve had him throw the empty caps another direction to disorient the clicker.
Ellie has never seen a Clicker before, she mostly had run ins with Runners and Stalkers during her time at the military school
ok
I'd actually rather be forced to fight a gang of Runners or Stalkers rather than a single Clicker.
@@christopherregan1654oh hell no, don’t put me in the same room as a group of stalkers
The stalker section of both games is the scariest part in my opinion

Scary is right. Every time I watch this scene it’s so scary. Even if I know there gonna live.
They need to have some kind of device that lifts the clickers into the air. You know, a clicker-picker-upper!
I hate you and like you at the same time for that comment
Shotgun
Here’s the real question though: Is it a *quilted* clicker picker upper?
@@ursadabear2810 I'm not getting the quilted part of the joke? Sorry!
@@davepowder4020 An old slogan of Bounty brand paper towels was "The quilted quicker-picker-upper"
That clicking sound never fails to both creep out and terrify me.
This adaptation made the infected look scarier than in the game, the bloater and the clicker are way more scary and more powerful in a certain way. Masterpiece…
can’t wait for S2
I typically play the game on eady mode the show must be on grounded mode.
@@KhepriProductions2022easy mode is insane

It’s a totally different thrill from trying to sneak around them yourself, though.
2:47, the clicker reacts to Joel reloading, great detail
It's Dipper Clicker. That clicker was an actor Jason Ritter who voiced Dipper from Gravity Falls.
So even the Pines got hit, damn
That’s so cool!
that's actually so cool, gravity falls is one of my favorite cartoons
Wow awesome detail, thanks!
Joel forgot to craft a shiv in this scene would’ve saved ammo 😂
Considering that one Clicker took a fire axe to the neck and was only temporarily stunned, I don't know if a shiv would help too much here.
@@mattshinde3614She actually hit him on the ear, which possibly made the Clicker confused to its dampened hearing
Pedro’s playing on grounded difficulty, he still doesn’t have enough stuff to craft one
Actually he forgot to use a brick in order to save both ammo and shivs at the same time.
I don't think the Infected can still be argued to be self-aware if they're whole head has split apart like these guys.
They're self aware until they reach the clicker phase.
In runner and stalker phase of the infected.... The person inside are fully aware and if u listen closely in game they are crying for help as they can't control themselves but when they reach clicker phase.... They are regarded as fully dead inside.
Annoyingly this is still a debate… whether or not they are actually saying anything or gibberish is debated
@Zealant I think the head of the group gave an answer and said that yea, they still have something I there, but not enough is left once ur a clicker, and what's left is rotted away once a bloater doesn't move (or something like that)
@@rrods5097Once they're a clicker, I don't know how they could even have a brain resembling a human brain anymore. Human brains are amazingly malleable (the 'man with the hollow brain' etc.), but they're not _that_ malleable.
Even the man with the hollow brain had the condition since childhood, so his brain could adapt slowly, and he still had all the contents, just pushed to the outside of his skull. And he had a 70 IQ, so it seriously affected him.
Joel's reaction to when the first Clicker spotted them was so relatable to me. While playing the game for the first time I often found myself wildly spraying my entire ammo into the Infected when I was spotted.
Anna Torv makes this series almost feel like a twisted Fringe timeline. Dr. Bishop took the wrong kind of mushroom and instead of tripping, he replicated into the Bishop Clickers.
Those creatures are crazy as hell
There like bats. They use echo location to move around
And to think this isn't the final stage of the infection.
@@Shockwave_Simp203Be glad their echolocation doesn't work in the game like it does in reality, otherwise they'd be impossible to sneak past.

What makes the Clicker HORRIFYING in the game is INSTANT 💀 if you don't have knife/bladed weapon as well as the skill for it. Love Pedro Pascal as Joel and his improv take on communicating with Ellie that "they" can't see but can hear to be quiet.
The Clicker sensing them even with a quiet gasp from Ellie horrifying and ingenious

This scene ticked every single box I had waiting to be ticked.
The moment is made so much more tense by the lack of sound. Its like watching an underwater scene where you try to hold your breath along with the protagonist. You don't even realize you're holding your breath because there's almost no music and you're really thrusted into the moment with them.
I got goosebumps the very moment I heard the clicking!
Vietnam flashbacks when I heard those fucking clicks i grabbed my controller said where is it?
Listening mode on fr
You would think that the sound of the gunfire would severely mess up the clickers hearing.
The viper and the lady of bear island 😅
The snapper almost catches it, good thing Joel put the flashlight in his face, it's amazing, there's a listening mode
Ooooh i have to watch this. Omg. The coolest zombie like creatures ever. I LOVE how expressive they are. They almost soumd like they are suffering, choking, great performance
The way they move is so in line with the game. Amazing performance!
Love how something even as simple as reloading is as dangerous as all heck.
Could've tossed an empty bullet casing or something to distract them
Panic mode will make you not think of that.
That sound... the game had me by the now unmistakable sounds of those monsters.
Hearing it here...
we needed more scenes like this, hope to see more in season 2
This makes me want to play again
do I have a fear of fungus now?🍄
Kinda. Believe it or not, the virus from this game is based on a real fungal infection that occurs in ants. It could happen.
@@yokaihollow589 There condition to infect humans is to evolve/adapt to survive hotter hosts or climates. And the fact that global warming is still happening...
@@godzillakingofthemonsters4556Cordyceps i isn’t going to evolve to be able to infect humans like this. Grow up.
@@yokaihollow589Yea, but not only is it extremely unlikely to happen it would take millions upon millions of years for Cordyceps to even make us remotely sick. Hell, it would take Cordyceps millions of years to even infect a household rat. And again even if it did manage to infect us it would never be able to turn us into TLOU infected. Honestly, I theorize that scientists in TLOU universe must've been experimenting on the fungus, which caused it to mutate to that degree because fungi would never mutate like that naturally.
Glad I won't eat mushrooms.
I’ve played the game so I knew what to expect but the clicker’s intro still creeped the hell out of me when I first saw it, well done!
We sure that's just a clicker and not just some bloke who has a shellfish allergy?
His Head is like pasta, his voice is terrifying, and he never dies, it even scared me & i Farting. 😱😱😱😱😭

Nice monster! Wonderful lesions.
The makeup art is amazing literally makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up with how they got the clicker mushroom head sit down
Seeing this makes the walking dead verse look like a cake walk
Tess: *panic fires and misses*
Players of the game: “relatable”
How do blind enemies like those manage to avoid the walls while running after someone ?
Clickers use a form of echolocation to get a sense of their surroundings. They need to hear you though in order to determine you're living food and not an inanimate object.
@@jerryhamburger8660 This make more sense than "A quiet place".
@@crash-testproductions9341it does have the same plot hole as a quiet place though, if they’re so attuned to hearing and echolocation to where they can hear a piece of glass across the room or even a toy train from a mile away, how do they not hear your heartbeat? A rhythm pulse would indicate food
@@spacejesus6581clickers aren't necessarily hunting for food. They could be looking for an uninfected to infect
They use echolocation
Ironically they’re much harder to kill in the games, and Joel took a few hits from the Clicker in the show. In the games, getting hit causes you to get stunned and it’s instant death.
No, in the series they are more difficult to kill, in the game you kill several and you don't have all the difficulty they had with just two clickers, in the TB series you can't get away with a fight with a clicker. Joel managed to hold the clicker, When he went at him, Just like in the game, And Joel got a slap in the face.
Clickers are so intense to fight especially in the part 2 game
Whenever I go into a house being very dark , my hand started to shake & the heart pump was too hard , everything is masterpiece about this game & series ,
Proud to be a PS owner !
I know the Clicker sound is creepy but it's oddly satisfying too.
Lol ikr
Clickers and Bloaters kinda remind me of Cranks from The Maze Runner Movies and Books.
Fantastic series! The Last of Us is on my list of things to watch!
How can you say it's fantastic if you haven't seen it.
Dumb move on Joel. I would of thrown the empty shells on the other side of the room to distract the clicker.
I just know for a fact every gamer that played The Last of Us just had a PTSD moment with the clicker sound noise
im suprised none of them considered tossing something
joel broke the glass and tess pushed the statue over so that pretty much counts
That thing isn't a mutant; it's my ex-wife!
honestly i thought the clicking would be like the sculk sensors in minecraft :skull:
This looks amazing! Awesome!
4:05 its funny cuz I've been getting alot of Shorts recco to me about, if you Have a Regular Semi Auto Pistol, pressing it against a hard surface such as what joel did here, the Gun will go "Out Of Battery" and will not Fire. Where as with a revolver you can press the barrel up to any hard surface and still fire.
The Revolver Is definitely a Good Go to Shtf Gun. I needa get one
Felt like I was playing the Game again rather than watching the series- Truly Terrifying once I heard the noise- now those are what I call clickers!
I have ptsd when I here that sound 😮
The CGI in this show is really good and there’s no doubt about that. And it proves that CGI is still good If some of these studios (mainly Disney) who overwork their VFX artists could learn from weta and last of us on how good The CGI would be in their live action movies if they don’t overwork their VFX artists
There isnt any CGI in this scene, its all practical effects.
Even if this scene wasn’t CGI, you have to admit that the rest of the CGI in the show is really damn good
CGI peaked with Transformers 2007
This whole thing fucks with my triphobia so badddd
Anyone else was like: “oh god, I know that sound.”?
The mannerism of the clickers is legit identical to the game
I believe they used the same motion cap actors as well as the voice actors from the original game
@@marygoround1292 that is so awesome!
@@heyitskait578 I'm not 100% positive on this fact but I've seen this from a couple other comments.

Its like that scene from the jurassic park movie
2:33 this scene kinda reminds me of first trailer of the game.
I think John Krasinski was playing The Last of Us and thought of making a whole movie about sneaking around clickers so he made A Quiet Place! 😄
I’ve always found stalkers more scary.
Clickers always make me hungry for a bloomin onion from Outback Steakhouse™️
They more scary in the show than in the game
For once filmmakers actually bothered to pay attention to the amount of bullets a revolver holds. It drives me crazy when a protagonist fires a dozen shots from their .357 without the scene even cutting away
I was still iffy about this series being as good as the game.....
When I saw that zoom in shot of the clicker, I thought "This is gonna be a great series!"
I've seen this before, and still almost sh!t my pants.
They could keep throwing little stones or something to the opposite corner of the room and sneak away
The problem is that they didn't knew how many of them were around, they found one and once it got alerted another came from the side and separated the group. Plus Joel used sound distraction by collapsing that art piece against the glass which gave him enough time to evade it. But in the long run making sounds by throwing rocks could end with more clickers alerted or that small pack going berzerk after detecting so much noice.
3:54 It was at that moment that Joel knew…….. HE F$&K UP!!!

Jesus Ellie, you couldn’t breathe any harder?
“They can’t see us but let’s limit our vision by ducking behind cover anyway”
Well if you’re standing in the middle of the room then you have a bigger chance of getting stumbled into. But if you’re behind something at least you have cover.
also they can echolocate, so they wont see you if youre behind or against something, but if youre just stood there then theyd be able to tell where you were
They can still see you. In the games, even on the easiest mode, they can detect you if you’re standing right in front of them. Hence why they hide.
Crawling also reduces the sound your steps make, as you spread your weight over a wider area.
Even if you're not moving or making any noise, if you're standing right in front of them, they echolocate and the sound bounces off of you, then they know you're there.
bro why you not taking headshots and I dont recall having that much ammo in the game like whatchyu doing bro
