Pep Guardiola last won the Champions League with Barcelona in 2011. This is the story of the journey to that title. A journey that along the way meets a transition of squad, a Catalan core, injuries and life-threatening illness, four of the hottest El Clasico encounters, and reaches a finale at a location steeped in Total Football history.

Those 4 Clasicos in 17 days or so was really peak football.
Peak Clasico as well it was just one late challenge away from a full out brawl
That and Mourinho's eyepoke to Vilanova a few years later were THE defining Clásico moments of that generation
@@santiagobauza4257 The eye poke was only a few months later, August of 2011 in the Spanish Supercup.
@@sameeisrar6427 You're right, I thought it happened when Vilanova became full time manager
I still remember those days. Barca and real were undoubtedly top 2 teams in the world back then.
This video is by far the best looking one that TIFO produced. Hats off to the art director / producer.
I love how it says Lionel Messi: No comments required
How many champions league messi and barca won after pep????

Messi already has 4 champions league so it’s good
This is possibly the best video Tifo have ever made
🙏
As a watching Man United fan that night, I was ecstatic when Rooney equalized but deep down inside, I knew we had no chance against this side.
Hey cheer up my friend 😊 at least you won a premier league title that season
Yeah it was hard to watch
@@thrilla72 yo but that messi goal at wembley with his celebration was I still think is the greatest goal ucl final history
And craziest celebration in champions league history but amazing

Imagine that: 4 Clasicos in about 2 and a half weeks, with arguably the best versions of both teams. We really were spoilt, eh?
Mourinho’s plan was to make it nasty.
@@AliMohamed-yq4wn peps plan was to rig the game
@@mohibullahshahid6741 By having a better team?
Mourinho’s best Madrid side was in 11/12 not 10/11
How was this 10 years ago already!? 😅
Funny how Barca is so shit now smh
things change... in a decade a lot has happened.
this is also part of a cycle I guess... one time they're at the top, the other time they'll be at the bottom.
11years
@@Ihateusernames1ummm didn't they win in 2011? And it's now 2021?
sigh we're so old guys
This animation is incredible
I must say, this video is beautifully made. Brilliant watch.
You can tell they put even more time into the animations than usual it’s great
Seriously, TIFO videos are always great visually, but this is a step above in production values. Amazing stuff
@@benjaminsmith7307 well not just time, they're making more money now aha
Isn't every one of their videos though?
I read this in a English accent
The last time pep won the CL I'd never heard of GameStop.
Young People! 🙄
@@JK_JK_JK_JK
I am young too!
Narrator: He wasn't
Last time Pep won the UCL people still shopped at GameStop
youre either a literal boomer or super young/not a geek (haha) if you didnt know about gamestop in 2010/11 lol. it was huge news in na/europe/most of world when they started to "dethrone" gamespot renting and that happened in 2009-ish
@@GodParody what if they live in a country without gamestop?
puyol was such a good captain, that gesture at last is amazing . Abidal also inspired many with his comeback after surgery .But that should have been it ,why the fuk was he appointed as sporting director ,just why
He was a scapegoat for the board and it worked, now nobody likes the legend.
Pedro is such an underrated workhorse
Know that he won 2 champions league and a premier league fa cup and countless la Ligas.
@@ibkamofa4084 he won three ucls
As a United fan, I remember watching the final and I was like
"Damn, this team is too strong"
Im telling you, after they stopped us in 2009, i still dont understand why we didnt play conservative. I guess Sir Alex wanted some fire vs fire. Barca's fire was the hotter one. And It wouldnt Help with Ronaldo already Gone
I was at Wembley for that final. There were times where we had to count the number of Barca players as it seemed like they had 12/13 on the pitch. They were indeed incredible, as a Manchester United supporter it was disappointing but even some barca fans we spoke to said that's the best they've seen them play all season.
Quick summary: last time Pep wins Champions League, Arsenal still there
Ty probably: Pep you’re a cheat and I hope Barcelona get relegated
@Archer 21 how they cheated any idea I want to know
@Archer 21 Chelsea cheated against Barca in the first leg and in the second leg there were bad decisions on both sides. And that was in 2008/09.
@Archer 21 The Abidal Red Card and there was a handball by Ballack in the box.
@Archer 21 They did not.
Tifo Football's best video yet,
Fittingly to acknowledge one the best footballing sides ever.
Barca's 2010/11 season is honestly one if the most romantic in the history of football.
Over 2008/09!?
@@thrilla72 Yes, the 2010/11 team was much more developed
@@prometheustv6558 No way! The other teams were so bad that season
14/15 wasn't bad either. Bouncing back from a trophy-less season; a great transfer window with signings like MATS, Suarez, Rakitic and Vermaelen; the emergence of arguably the greatest front 3 of all time and obviously, Xavi's barca career ending with a Treble.
@@rajatshaw1239 ikr that season is so underrated :')
Best club team ever. Period.
Never going to witness such a team ever.

One of the great, if not the greatest, club side of all time.
Absolutely LOVED the way this video was made! Artistic to the absolute core while still maintaining that factual edge.
“No further comment required” love that 😂
I'm a super casual Barcelona fan. But I had chills watching this. Great video, brought back so many good memories that don't feel like happened a decade ago. Time flies.
Watched the 5-0 Classico today. Crazy how wonderful that team was !
I strongly remember being absolutely mesmerised and amazed by the performance in my mother's living room.
Get Tifo to 900K by the end of the month!
Edit: We did it!
get him to dive into that gamestop gme thingy and you'll get him more than 900k
Man Utd qualifying for final itself was a great thing as well. I'm man Utd fan but that team was not like of 09. This happens when The Godfather SAF is the manager
he was a bit naff
Don't forget Ibrahim Afellay. He only did one thing in his Barcelona career: assisting Messi for that Bernabeu goal.
But what a thing. Worth a UCL. Always in our hearts, Ibi!
The true legend 😁
What a Brilliant video. The best this channel's ever produced. Although I would've liked a more tactical view of the games.
There’s loads of videos elsewhere, after all it is the greatest team of all time
The visuals are top-notch in this one!
I don't even like Barcelona, but when Puyol let Abidal lift the trophy, I thought that was pure class. Fair play
Let's take our hats off for everyone involved in this production! The art, the color, the music(peaked when representing Jose vs Pep), as usual the magical words, the best ever Tifo production. Simply mesmerizing!
I still remember that barcelona vs manchester united 2011 final so well.
I was a 20 year old manchester united fan at the time without too much knowledge of the spanish league. I knew Barcelona were good, but Manchester United that season were also extremely solid.
Needless to say, I don't recall ever seeing manchester united that outclassed before. Prior to that game, I knew that no matter how much manchester united was down, I always knew there was a chance to tie up the game and maybe even win. This game vs barcelona was I think the first game where it seemed like even hope was out of reach. It was eye opening and I just remember leaving the bar after the game being totally shocked at not losing the game, but the manner in which the game was lost.
Thanks tifo...something to cheer up for us(barca fans)🙂

That final really reflected their team, squad, fans and club perfectly. Even Sir Alex Ferguson called it the greatest side he has ever faced. Wonderful story. Wonderful times.

Excellent video guys. Keep up the good work! Quality sport journalism!
2011 barcelona is still the greatest 11 to play the game like a fantasy...
A fairytale indeed as no club can match such greatness till this day nor forever
This was the best football team I’ve ever seen. Probably on Ajax in the early 70’s can compete
*only
Chelsea park the bus beat them twice i think, or is it different era I don't remember

Yeah but.. have you seen Burnley this season
ajax weren't even the best side of the 70's let the best oat

Majestic video!
This video felt like a short film! Such beautiful visuals :')
One of the best videos I’ve ever watched.
Fun fact: all three midfielders assisted and all three forwards scored. Xavi to Pedro for the first, Busquets to Messi for the second and Iniesta to Villa for the third.
Standout episode... What happened at tifo ? Creativity is flowing with outstanding freshness in this particular episode... Change has arrived.... Loved it!!!
The tone in this video is just delightful
This video took me back to when i was a high schooler watching these matches in jamaica in barber shops after school. This was wonderful. granted im a fan of neither team but for the love of the sport it was must watch tv
Best Tifo video imo

That Barcelona team under Pep is the only team in history of football to win Six trophies in a single campaign, that team hardly had any weak spot and was dominated by La Masia graduates- something that the Barcelona of today lacks
Thats because la liga is so weak. The only contenders was a failing madrid side ffs.

Watching that final, I clearly remember thinking "this is the greatest football I've ever seen played".
@ 7:35 Pepe's tackle during that game was most definitely reckless, but you have to give to Dani Alves for putting on a show flailing like he had been shot when he wasn't even touched. I still remember Barca being called Uefalona around this time 😂

The best video you've done!
One big reason that squad so successful is that, when things not going their way, there is always someone to pick them up. Like the second yellow on Van Persie when down by away goal, and the penalty against AC Milan from just a corner, and of course the Motta red card.
