There are similarities between Pep Guardiola and Mikel Arteta, they are both sharp thinkers, they are both products of Barcelona’s La Masia, and they are both sharp dressers. But there are also some fundamental differences.
As The Athletic’s James McNicholas writes, on the face of it Guardiola and Arteta are similar, but as they both develop, will their differences develop.

One has hair, the other doesn't
One has colored hair and the other is greying
I was just about time that😂😂
nice
one young and one old
Siddharth exactly what I was thinking before I saw your comment 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
An analysis I’d love to see is a tactical comparison of every team Guardiola’s managed.
He already did that a while ago.
Azlan Khan You sure it was Tifo? I don’t see it.
@@magentalane27 think it was football made simple
Football made simple made a video on it if you haven’t seen that yet
Appreciated! Would still like to see Tifo do it, though.
The hair on Pep's head originally appeared on The Athletic
Legend😅😂😂
😤Best comment so far
😂😂😂
The Pep in the thumbnail has too much hair so I couldn’t recognise him immediately 🤣🤣🤣
It looks like Steve Jobs
Just give glasses and a turtle neck
Lol and Arteta's hair is too untidy.
Pep used to look like that in 2009
2:31 dude is that even Jorginho...
And now were finally seeing his vision and what a f*cking gorgeous vision it is. The results have been phenomenal but even if you take away results and just look at the way we're playing you can only describe it as beautiful. We play quick but controlled, reckless yet calm, and most importantly we play with heart. Every player defends, every player attacks. This is Mikel Artetas work finally paying off.
Say that again 😭
this video aged well.
Arteta has proven himself to be a young manager with big potential.
Yes, he is a less talented dean smith
How are Pep and Arteta different? The same way ManCity and Arsenal are different
Haha I'm here after Arteta's Arsenal 5 game winning streak
he bottled champions league
@@spursyou230 the only difference will be is if Arteta can win more trophies. Otherwise everything is same.
And a year in, this is exactly what Arteta has acheived
And now, it's a battle between a master and his student 🔥🔥🔥
Arteta and Pep remind me of Obi-wan and Qui-gon
True
Yeah
Ok then Arteta should not have an assistant that wants his own coaching career because we know where this can go
@@JaleelBeig Okay, is there a Palpatine here?😶😶

Steve jobs vs Mikel Arteta?
That's what i am saying
I was absolutely gutted when Arteta left City. Pep can be a genius when setting up his team's, but it is the staff around him that are responsible for getting the messages across to the players, and Mikel was responsible for having a major role in improving the players such as Raheem. Wishing him the best of luck at Arsenal as he deserves it (not against City of course!)
I feel like it's especially clear now how important Mikel was for City. I feel that Pep is now even more prone to overthinking, as it's likely that Mikel helped him tactically too, and sometimes prevented him from trying to for overtly complicated strategies that wouldn't work in practice.
@@hidingman3578 Pep know what is he doing!
He didn't have Artea in Barca.
Pep is on top of the table without arteta there is no difference arteta was of no use for pep
@@hidingman3578 he didnt have arteta in barca
Raheem needs Arteta
I wish Tifo could do one for Lampard, but he doesn’t have a clear style
The video they did do on him made me even more confused with the way Lampard plays
Lampards style is no defence
He needs to go if Chelsea are to get anywhere
@@GuinessOriginal dang dude
Yeah Arteta would do a much better job at Chelsea
@@PeterEhik lol like thats ever happening
I had no clue you couldn't be offside from goal kicks. Wonder why that isn't exploited more often
Same here
i think it is quite hard to exploit. Most goalkeepers can only physically kick the ball a certain distance. There are a few who can whack it 80+ yards with the wind behind them, but kicking a ball that sort of distance is very inaccurate and just gives possession away more often than not.

I see Arteta, i see a clown
one thing im impressed by with arteta is that his ability to change formations in between games
defending with a 3 in the back building up and attacking with a 4 in the back
@TexansToast Doubled the squad value, halved the wage bill, and won a trophy. Impressive indeed for someone not even 3 years into management.
Like thats that hard 😂
@@Never_Wr0ng and only spend and absolute fortune 😂
He’s going nowhere, he would be better at Etihad polishing pep’s shoes
Guy , kindly make a part 2 of this particular video. times have change
Thanks. I hope some impatient Arsenal fans understand why we always playing from the back even we look uncomfortable because we need to slowly make ourself good in it thus creating a habit.
When i watched the arsenal vs man city arsenal played more of a pressuring style while man city were looking to make passes it was a pretty equal match
Yep it waz, and still me fellow arsenal fans think mikel cock it up..... keep whining about partey not starting look the man has just one training session ffs......
@@badger0933 they dominated us in every way possible
@@hagi3983 there wasn't any domination. We knew how it was tk be dominated by city. This was just a boring and silent game. Not a 3-0 bashing
@@BeastBoy69631 we were defending all night, that's what made them score *only* one
@@hagi3983 Arsenal arguably had the better chances of the two teams? Ederson was better than Leno on the day if anything. The signs of progress under Arteta are still strong and we've just signed a class CM. Be excited!
The football we're seeing Arsenal play is far from being what Arteta wants. I think he wants to be as attacking as City, or even more, but he's still building to that.
Pep has always taken better teams or had more money. That doesn't make him less of a coach, but I think it enabled him to extract better football out of his teams more quickly.
I think it's about to happen
I agree with you
Pep won the league in second season; while arteta is still building after three season
@@milindmatang ummm you missed her point bro lol
@@milindmatang When Pep joined City, they already started wining PL beofe him. Even before him, City was already a good squad & were serious PL contenders for next seasons.
Then he got unlimited budget. He literally buys every great player he likes. He tries to buys stars & mostly succeeds becoz of his unlimited budget. Some players flop, some players hit. Even when a player flops, he buys a replacement. City has so much money to spend that it's not even a fair comparison.
Now when Arteta joined Arsenal, neither he inherited a good squad nor his squad was title contenders. Arsenal didn't win the PL since ages. He inherited an average squad. Also he doesn't have unlimited budget. He can't afford buying Haaland or Dias and many more. He doesn't have to luxury to waste so much money on someone like Grealish. So u can't compare 2 of them. It's not fair.
Animation is hella nice on this one.
Perth is one of the greatest songs ever
This type of Content is just so good. The only problem with this video is that it ended
When a similarity is sharp dressers, then you know we’re scraping the barrel comparing these two😅
I’m watching this just ahead of the 2022-2023 season and arsenal are looking deadly
Please can you make an updated video of this now. It would be so fascinating to watch because this video is superb.
A year later you can now see the system Arteta was talking about. Creative, explosive and being under control. Super Mik Arteta, he knows exactly what we need 😍❤️
Arteta needs time and financial support potential top manager
One is catalan, the other basque
Both la masia product.
Another brilliant video by tifo
Love this channel❤️
Very articulate and easily understandable. Thanks Tifo❤️
James is so insightful. Great views in the managers styles. And hes right. Eventually teams will stop pressing us cause it will expose them in the back. We have a long way to go untill we get there but the core for the future is there. That's what makes this brighter than with Unai. Teams don't fear arsenal anymore. We aren't the expansive fluid teams of before. If Troy is out here saying we are weak( and he got relegated) then theres a deeper issue. The mentalities of our "leaders" hasn't been up to par.
One has hair, lacks money to spend, one has money to spend, lacks hair
😁😁😁😁😁😀😀😀😁
One spend £45m on partey. Lol
city record transfer player-Rodri($65 pound)
Arseal record transfer player-pepe($75 pound)
and you still said city has money and arsenal lacks money
Rogaine for pep
I love these kinds of videos. No one does it better than Tifo
Need an update!!!
One has great players and owners who backs him. The other has Auba and Kroenke...
Huh? As if Arsenal didn't allow Arteta to clear out squad & has the signings he wants.
Again a fantastic video👌
i love the way you guys explain concepts
I think tifo needs to do a remake of this
The genius coach has done well to keep the team out of relegation.
Would love to see one of these videos for Arteta and Wenger.
excellent content guys 👏👏👌👍
These visuals are getting better 👍
Simple really. One is one of the greatest managers of all time and the other is completely unproven as a manager and just got beat 3-0 at home by Aston Villa
Congrats to Villa for spending 300 million in the last 3 years and sitting at 15th in the table. Oh and Arteta just did a massive rebuild and built a solid foundation for success while learning management. Also completely outclassed Dean Smith who looks like will be out of job soon. Arsenal already got one of the best manager and tactician in the world.
@@lozcast7924 congrats to arsenal for spending the most out of any club in the country this season and only being in 6th 😂

@ALAW Climbing up the ranks…
This is a great vid! Thank you! Would like to see an in depth analysis of Arteta's revolving in game formations, specifically Arsenal's use of the formations 4-3-3, 3-4-3, 4-4-2 and 2-1-2-5.
This was a brilliant video
Wow!! Spot on.
Good about Arteta tactic, players could change the positioning and tactical formation based on situation, without having Arteta involvement of switching tactic. He is now focusing on work ethic of his players without a ball (pressing & positioning) and play from the back as a habit (mature & calm in own box). Thats what we can see now, with Ramsdale couple of times successfully pass the ball straight to Lacazette and surpassed the opposition press. Problem now (need to be fixed) goal convertion. Auba laugh and smilling everytime he make mistake, thats not a good sign.
You can't change thst from Auba yk that right he's just that guy Ronaldinho Raphinia Neymar all just loves the game Mane salah Son kante always smiling make up for there mistakes
How are Pep and Arteta different? The same way ManCity and Arsenal are different
@@spursyou230 as city fan, i think the only difference right now is city has more squad depth than arsenal. In term of manager tactical, both are genius in attacking football. If pep leave city one day, only arteta can take his place. I dont want boring coach like conte come to city, very defensive minded but still leak many goals against small teams.
Turns out Arteta did in fact maintain his interest in Jorginho
I like how your vid are always uploaded in time for my morning shit 😅
Everytime I watch a Tifo football video it makes me wish fans were more interested in watching these more analytical videos than hyperbolic fan reactions and self important fan channels.
I mean just look at this comment section. Looks like analytical videos are also not exempt from hyperbolic fan reactions and snarky uneducated comments.
Would be nice to revisit this considering Arsenal’s form
I love analysis videos 💚⚽️
Would be interesting if you could analyse the tactics laid out by young managers such as Julien Stephan (Rennes)
One manager overthinks a lot and another has no clue of what he is doing with the team.
@Don Nowadays that is true.
I'd like to see a similar video on Pep and Cruyff, I think that would make for a good comparison too.
Hey Tifo.I have been thinking that you guys should reflect on how Mourinho is kind of playing the same style he played during his first years at Chelsea. He is now doing the same at Tottenham. Hoģberg is playing similar to Makelele.
Great video
I like your chanel a lot
Would be interesting to revisit this topic now.
Great material... I'm sick of bs rant sites.
Its March 2023. And Arteta‘s Arsenal is 5 points clear of Pep‘s City. With a clear style of play and vision. This aged well
This is new to me, I just knew that there is no offside if the ball is from goal kick.
Would like a tactical review of the game Ajax vs Liverpool in the cl last night
That was such an insignificant game, there's no reason for them to use resources deep diving into that vs other things they could focus on
Brilliant video how about a video on real madrids tactical analysis
Also makes sense why Sokratis and Ozil were left out. Two players we were not going to re-sign regardless of how well they played due to age
Would be amazing if we could get a similar video for Guardiola and Cruyff
Surely the point he makes around 5 mins where he he says arsenal play out from the back more because they make more passes at the back actually means they just take more passes *to* play out ie, city are more efficient at playing out
Very nice touch by adding that Arsenals Playing Out from the back that was once seriously criticized yet now have the best statistics in doing so in the PL will eventually put a fear into opposing teams who try the high press at the risk that Arsenals passing will dissect them leaving to lots of room for our pace on the counter.. the same way that teams eventually stopped pressing Liverpool at Anfield due to their deadly ability to counter and score (aka what happened to Arsenal in every one of Wenger's last games there when Arsenal played high defensive line).
it’s not the best mate

One is an awesome manager the other is an amateur

Next video about the form of Milan and the tactic?
I’m from the future and Arteta has exceeded all my expectations. We just beat city in our last two meetings💪🏾
Love the video game bit
Dis video is gold because Arteta just build a fearless team and still want to get more players in won't be surprised if Arsenal win the league dis season
update this video. it will be interesting
Stop asking me questions every week! I didn't study for this one either.
Shouldn't teams that are good at playing out from the defence not have a high percentage of possession in your own third, considering the goal is to move the ball to your midfield in the middle third?
How different are they now tifo?
