- It turns out that sacrificing plot, character and common sense for the sake of a laugh doesn't always bring great results, as Taika Waititi discovered this week when his latest movie tumbled 68% at the box office.

It is Natalie Portbirthingperson now.
@@depalma13 Well, she's 40, so not for much longer.
It’s Natalie Poorperson isn’t it.
“Port” is an affront to “Starboard” persons
We have like 6 films where Thor has to "find himself"... isn't he 1500 years old?
Yeah, it gets old doesn't it.
The more age a person has the person already is full of wisdom, and i never imagine a simulation where the person would be funny, just like Space is Infinite for the brains of humans to comprehend, a person or God who is sentient like Thor would forever be SERIOUS with memory and wisdoms of all his ADVENTURES. nobody, no god who could cross 1000 years of age would be a foolish CLOWN. MCU cannot see it what they are doing.
“I am done with clown Thor.” That is so accurate.
This episode is brought to me by Almond Breeze … apparently …
I was done with him ten minutes into Ragnarok. It was dumbfoundingly boring.
@@johnstrawb3521 It was fun for the first 10 minutes until you realize he's like that for the entire thing lol

Look up his actual last name. When you understand his heritage, you understand exactly why his trope is to trash White male heroes.
Yeah it's too bad for ur health
He's just the playing the dude that is acting as another dude.
I recognize the reference 😌✌️
Not only Thor, but the whole of Asgard was dumbed down and turned into a parody of its former self. Remembering back to the original Thor movie, it was amazing to listen to the opening narration with Anthony Hopkins and see the camera pan up from below the ocean and hear about "The Realm Immortal." The music swelled, the landscape were gorgeous, breathtaking. I wanted to GO THERE and explore the majestic seas, walk on the Bifrost, explore the caverns below the surface, visit Odin's treasure chamber, feast with the heroes, tell stores of great deeds, etc.
.
Now Asgard is a tourist trap on planet Earth in Norway. "Asgard is it's people" says Thor at the end of Ragnarok. Yeah, and the people have become discount Disneyland, so "New Asgard" is likewise a joke. Ho hum. Nothing to see here, really. They no longer are worthy of their power and immortality. Sort of like the dying days of Rome when all the emperors were corrupt and the barbarians were taking over.
💯💯
very well said Sid Whiting! Now the New Asgard has an ice cream store called Infinity Cones; who cares that Thanos killed many Asgardians on the spaceship and who cares that Thanos killed 50% of all life, it is supposedly "funny" to see the infinity gauntlet holding an ice cream cone. To me it is like a Jewish person opening a retail store called "Hitler's". Just awful humor
Agreed. Asgard blew me away, none of the other worlds in the mcu impressed me as much. The way the asgardians dressed and all the mega architecture, it made me wonder "what kind of people live here?!". Now they're a tiny fishing village.
@@Thynqikan Regarding the comparison to a Jewish shop, I’d say calling a restaurant or something “The Gas Chamber” would be worse.
This shows you how mediocrity infiltrates, influences and dominates society. It destroys the very fabric of creativity.
Razorfist is absolutely spot on. Every interview for 5 years since Ragnarok every Hemsworth and Waititi interview has been about 'reinvention' and 'doing something different with the character' and 'never growing bored with him' and 'Taika has the mind of a 7 year old'. Sadly, since Hemsworth was rightly disappointed in his performance in Dark World, that meant he now greenlights (as much as he can) every single Waititi childish humour based fever dream concept. And that worked near perfectly for me on Ragnarok because you can tell the MCU, back when it was on form, reigned Waititi's goofy, cringe humour in. But now? You can absolutely tell they do what they think is best for them, never what they think is best for the character right now, which in my opinion, should have been becoming King in the Endgame instead of Valkryie the enslaver, let alone running off to goof around with the Guardians and then spending a second movie's ending in further character limbo, again running off to goof around, this time with...Gorr's daughter of all people, and now having regressed back to the God of Hammers?
J.J. Abrams did the same thing with Star Wars when he got to play in the sandbox. He was less interested in making a quality film than he was in wiping his d*** on it and leaving his mark. It was evident from his interviews and the things he brought to the film. Star Wars is not about the f*****g mystery box!
@@TheGavric Lmao. Abrams is the absolute King of alluding to big ideas he never has any intention of fulfilling or seeing answered. I always remember years and years ago the disappointment people I knew had for Lost. That was one of my first instances of understanding where J.J. gets caught utterly lacking as a writer.
Waititi is annoying. He was probably one of those kids who never shut up in school and was bullied.
I believe this started with GotG success tbh. They really leaned in on it.
he went full Waititi. That's the problem when everyone is telling you you're the golden boy and can do no wrong you start believing you have the midas touch.
The problem is Taki's ego has quite clearly grown in relation to his success. When he was making What We Did In The Shadows, he seemed like a quite down-to-Earth guy with a sick sense of humour. The more interviews he's done since 'getting big', the more up himself he appears at every turn, and once you hit that 'I am a God' thought-zone in your own head, you stop questioning any of your choices, can't self-edit, and churn out crap.
Happens to far too many people. I'm reminded of Stephen King who ended up writing himself into one of his books as literally god. Of course these days King spends most of his time on Twitter telling everyone how the country should be run.
tbh I saw a video of him talking to reporters a few years back after Ragnarok and he seemed completely arrogant even then I think he's always been like that.
Hiring "Yespersons" to tell him constantly how great he is (as if he's not already aware of that in his mind); there's no grounding once the groundwork is out of the way & Disney Corporate foots the bill.

He also recently had a rant about how New Zealand is a rascist country, even though him as a Maori has risen to the top of his feild.

I thought he was going to become more stronger and maybe tap into the Odin Force to become the Rune King.

"Soft-spoken" because he can't read a script with a gazillion goofy, cringe annoying, assblasted, angry alliterations, during a podcast.
The “what are you the god of again?” Scene is one of the best scenes in the MCU. I was never a Thor guy but his sick haircut and the immigrant song had me out of my seat when I watched Ragnarok, it wasn’t perfect, Thor was goofy, but the end of his arc in that film was incredibly satisfying and left him primed to take over the reins when Tony and Cap but the dust, Ragnarok-Infinity War Thor made him my favorite avenger, now he’s just piss again.
The day MCU introduced Thor in 2011 from Movie 1 he was already 1500 years old, so his God Psychi is already being challenged with knowledge power and wisdom, i could understand Thor Behaviour changing when he met Bruce HULK who is a force that even MCU don't understand. So Thor thor seeing a character that actually has a chance go defeat him or kill him kinda changes the serious thor mood and attitude as we saw in avengers or RAGNAROK which was good movie, i think Waititi got lucky he made that movie the way he did. I always ALWAYS understood how character changes in their lifetime. But Thor change is slow and tedious for humans to understand so when hes around mortals he should mostly be serious not goofy Joker no matter what. Why cant they get it right. At current juncture Thor has acknowledged Hulk and Thanos and other new edition so he should be more wisdomful and not a clown. Do the makers understand the character is God of Vikings. Real history. Too bad they are busy buffing Cap Marvel shitty Whaman who is nothing litrally nothing in comics a joke mostly.
Agreed. Fat Thor in endgame ran his character arc off a cliff.
It’s rather confusing, because Joss Whedon complained that he was tightly reigned in, quelling any creative choices he might’ve made. Now, TW is allowed free reign to take Thor in such a clownish direction. Why did the producers let out the leash like this?
I think when Disney took over Marvel the plan was already there. They had everything already structured. Now they have no idea what to do but throw content out.
@@mindylou8188 They had things locked down until Endgame was over, the franchise had to be growing every film to ensure that was a huge hit, sure enough biggest film of all time. Now they don't care, they got their money.
Because of Ragnorak.. this is the reason why most directors don't come back for a sequel. Most directors don't like their work churned put like factory products. I mean save James Gunn for Gotg who actually didn't butcher his characters. R bros did a good job, but would have been better if they just did Infinity War.
Taika took the wrong message from TR's reception, just like Patty took the wrong message from WW1918's reception. They both leaned into the wrong things with their sequels and didn't place enough emphasis on the screenplay. Patty's sequel, as flawed as it may be, is at least sincere in it's treatment of its characters and more consistent in how it expects the viewer to emotionally engage with the story.
You think they care about the films they are pooping out? It's all about spreading ideology and "the message", burning everything in their path to brainwash as many people before they get shut down.
Nah it's not. Wonder Woman r4pes a person lmao
It feels weird not hearing Razorfist screaming his head off.

So thrilled to have Razorfist at the bar! Been following the guy for years and his Metal Mythos episodes are pure legend. Hope he bought a round. 🤘
Characters evolve and change over time, especially ones that get shuttled between different writers, and that's fine. But when a creator has too much ego on the line to even be able to see past it to what came before, you have a problem. Why use a "legacy" character if you're going to ignore most of the legacy? (I mean, yes, there are crass and cynical reasons, but they're awfully hard to defend if you say them out loud.)
I think korg had more screen time and/or more lines then Thor. That’s how insane it is and stupid it is. Also he doesn’t even care about his own character as he made him gay now and that it takes two men to give birth. Well the previous movie said he had a mom. Tikka in the movie freeguy probably came up with the catchphrase “catchphrase” because that’s how far his brain works.
The Drinker and Razorfist!!!
Taika Cohen... err... Waititi has proven that his one trick is dried up and used.
And even then, Mel Brooks did it better.
The Dark World didn't fail because of the lack of humor, it failed because the premise was complete dogshit, and they made the film more about Loki than Thor. The Waititi humor has only ever been a burden on the franchise.
It also took itself WAY TOO SERIOUSLY.

The only good thing in that film was Tom Hiddleston

Disagree about the Taika humor. It was perfect for Ragnarok and part of what made it such a great film. BUT I think that's because there were healthy limits on the humor with Ragnarok, limits that seemingly weren't there for Love and Thunder.
Didn't know Critical had an in at Disney that could confirm how Disney made scripts.
Still hard to believe they are really just hiring/casting directors as fast as they can, to then create a script that immediately go into production with little review. How terrible the stories have been seems to back this but its still surprising. Disney must literally just hand a rubric grade school style to the "director" that dictates, "here are the political points you're movie must hit" then just sends them on their way with the Disney credit card.
Just fascinating
I was reading about the development of the Strange 2 script, and it really is amazing how little quality control there was. The first draft assignment was given to a young woman (Jade Halley Bartlett (sp?)) whose only claim to Hollywood fame was that she wrote a script that was on a yearly list of best unfilmed scripts. The job of rewriting the script was then given to Michael Waldron, who at least was Loki's showrunner, but he had very little writing experience before that. He was mainly known for Rick and Morty and had done no films at all. Considering MoM was kind of a "WandaVision" sequel, I don't know why they didn't bring in anyone from that beyond just a consult.
@@marychocolatefairy 💯💯💯. Yeah, this is just absolutely baffling
Just think of all the Disney+ shows, they don’t have the time for quality control. It is just a production line, no one’s passionate about what they’re doing. Most of the people never knew about their characters before being assigned their projects, I guarantee it.
I'm reminded of the Catpain Marvel movie which they tried hard to make the female equivalent of Black Panther. They wanted to hire only women crew, only women writers and directors, and on and on and on, but they very quickly discovered that there just wasn't enough women who wanted to be the 'grip' and hold heavy stuff all day. They handed the script to woman writer after woman writer and after going through something like five different writers they finally gave up and handed it to a man. And the same thing happened with their director when it was clear that she had no idea what she was doing so they got her husband to pitch in. It turns out that hiring based on ideology does very little for actually accomplishing work.
I like to use Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home. It's a fish out of water story that also completes the Death, Rebirth, and Return of Spock. The comedy sprung from the situations. They tried to add comedy to Star Trek V and it was pretty much slapstick crap because it didn't suit the film. It's like if someone watched The Trouble With Tribbles and decided the rest of the series should be that. There's room for humor and silliness, but sometimes you have to get down to business. Also, there's a difference between putting your characters in humorous and unfamiliar situations and having them act like an idiot. Sure, Thor can hang out with the Guardians and be silly, but once he hears about the threat he should immediately be in warrior god mode.
Hello computer?
@@mattp6089 lol... i loved that scene... it was so subtle and just a small thing and not used again... it just worked....
What makes star trek 5 so difficult to watch is that you can tell that it was a good movie at one point. "what does god need with a spaceship?" is an absolutely genius line.
Reason these movies are going woke, they get to push serious strong female character straightman and force the male characters to be comedic baffoons with no confidence or direction.
Excellent analogy! I've always found The Trouble with Tribbles to be the most maddeningly overrated episode of TOS. I mean, sure, it's amusing and all, but to a lot of observers it seems to be the be-all and end-all Star Trek episode, which is absolutely baffling. I think the recent Star Wars films have made the same mistake TLAT just did: since everyone found John Boyega's comedic timing so excellent in The Force Awakens, they made Finn a buffoon for the rest of the goddamn trilogy, when he should have been its tragedic heart (a child who was abducted and brainwashed into a stormtrooper and who now finds himself in the opposite side, and all you're gonna do with him is walking him around with a leaking plastic suit? 'K.)
Razorfist? What a crossover!
As someone who likes The Dark World, Taika Watiti is a ONE-TRICK-PONEY!!!!!
I wouldn't call 500M and counting a stumble, but it'll struggle to reach the 850M Ragnarök made. I just wish Thor was a DC character, they'd never turn him into a sad, bad joke he's become.
But it is. Considering the marketing costs. I mean even having a simple 6 second ad on CZcams costs in thousands of dollars
Well over 150 of that 850 was from China and Russia, and Love and Thunder is not playing in either.
The film probably cost almost 500 million to make when you consider the advertisement costs
You need 2.5x the production budget to start making a profit, marketing a tentpole and distribution costs make up the rest of the discrepancy. I promise you, this is a stumble.
Although I don't think Disney care as long as they make their money back, this movie felt like content to fill a blank in the MCU schedule. Thor, like Iron Man and Captain America is really deemed a legacy character at this point and surplus to requirement accordingly.
Alas I think Waititi and Hemsworth knew this, were getting a big cheque each and as such, very few f@cks were given, it shows...and it's a shame.
At one time Thor was my favorite of the MCU heroes…………they’ve turned him into a F-ing joke. I’m done with the MCU and Holly-weird in general. Keep up the great work guys. 🤘👁🤘
In Avengers Infinity War Thor was my favorite. The loss he experienced, the death of so many of his people when Thanos destroyed the ship they were on and left Thor for dead floating in space. He finds Thanos, who shoots a power beam and Thor hurls stormbreaker through the power beam and impales Thanos "I told you, you would die for that". THAT is Thor. Rightly so, because people are beginning to wake up to the MCU'S general decline in quality ( with a few happy exceptions), and aren't just blindly tossing $$$ at a shared universe now there's no longer any overarching plot. Which was inevitable since a changing of the guard and some new setup was always gonna happen, but it left the MCU in a place where they needed to put quality over quantity. Inbetween D+ and their increasingly woke writing, that's not panning out very well. Thor 4 in particular had SO MUCH going for it but fell short so drastically not many people are up for it. As for me, my brother shares his D+ account with me so I'll just check it when it drops there instead of paying for an expensive cinema ticket for a film that isn't worth it.

@@Briaaanz I think it's a little more nuanced than that. Take Star Trek. Gene Roddenberry died in about 1991 if I remember right. As a result we got about a dozen more years of good Trek. Then when that all wrapped up, the owners of the property put it into the clumsy paws of JJ Abrams, and we got nothing but crap ever since. Similar story with Star Wars, except that Kathleen Kennedy was handpicked by George Lucas ... but had zero interest in preserving George's vision. George gave them treatments for three new films and was profoundly disappointed in Kathleen that she ignored them entirely. But like I said, some fanfic is good. Rogue One was good, in my opinion. And I'm not saying that sometimes, someone doesn't come along and completely revitalize the idea and make it their own. I think that happened with Spider Man, Batman and a few others. But that's rare, and it takes a real master to do it. People writing for these old properties are many things, but masters they aren't.
you have no idea, how many times do think hollywood remade, the oceans hist movies 10/11/12/13 and then gender sawp, and then make more remakes of a remake, and the funny thing is they never do the ones you want them to remake.

The first Thor is my personal favorite

@@BarronVonSchnoot not really. I saw that awful trailer, plus CGI female Thor and I said “oh no here is another girl power movie and loser Thor” . I learned my lesson after watching dr strange 2. I won’t make the same mistake again, hence not planning on watching any new MCU movies or shows. There are better things out there…
Disney fundamentally misunderstands their strength: As a parent, I subscribed to Disney+ because they have an astounding amount of quality content for my kids, and memberberries for me. Thor is my favorite Avenger, but ever since Endgame, they’ve been just destroying Thor, making him a whiny little bitch of a superhero and demigod.
Fat Thor was funny for about a minute and should have been a one scene joke at best. Once Thor heard they may be able to reverse the snap, he should have just called down thunder and had his muscles back. If he could call lightning that could change him into his armor and even braid his beard, I think it could fix his fat physique too.
I’m sorry, but I always think of most super heroes being strong magically, not because they watch their diet and exercise at the gym daily. Loki was able to toss Cap around like a rag doll, is that because Loki worked out more than Cap? Bullshit, even Cap got his strength from a serum, not the gym.
They made Thor pitiful in Endgame. Always whining and crying to his mother while Rocket had to finish the mission without him. Again, I call bullshit. Thor wanted to redeem himself after allowing Thanos to snap while he reveled in torturing him with Stormbreaker.
There was a lesson for Thor there, not to play with his enemy, but finish the job and get it done quickly, but Thor learned nothing and has become a bigger and bigger bumbling fool. He is a demigod who has been alive for over 1,500 years, why would he be an idiot?
If anyone with a good IQ could live that long, they’d be the most wise and intelligent person alive. Instead, Thor has to become a moron so Tony could get his Big Lebowski joke in. Tony is a genius who went to MIT, but even that should not compare to a brain that has been around over a millennium and seen all of the things Thor has seen, plus given the wisdom of Oden, who had been alive far longer.
Thor should have made the snap to return everyone. The guy had survived the explosion of the Statesman and floating in deep space for some time without a space suit. Then he survived the power of a neutron star when he had to open the iris for the forge. Anyone who could survive all that is basically indestructible and could have survived the snap.
Even if he died doing it, that would at least be a befitting and honorable end for the character. A lot better than the end that Steve got. Steve decided to become a coward and selfish for the first time in his life and let the world go to hell while Twinkle Toes Rogers dances with Peggy. Mowing the lawn around his picket fence and playing fetch with his dogs while Loki captures NY and his best friend Bucky is tortured and made into a killing machine.
While Bucky is using his super serum powers to execute people, Twinkle Toes Rogers now uses his super soldier endurance to win dance marathons. That’s my new name for Cap. He is no longer Captain America because he sold out and was no longer the same little guy willing to leap on the grenade.
Twinkle Toes Rogers will not crash the airplane, but rather land it and the bomb nearest the closet dancing academy. So, Tinkle Toes Rogers becomes the guy unwilling to lay down on the wire, like he accused Tony, while Tony went out a boss! Tony prove time and time again that Twinkle Toes was wrong. He took the atomic weapon into the portal in space, not knowing if he’d ever return.
Tony also helped trigger the explosive in the piece of Sakovia that was hurdling towards earth, not knowing if he’d survive. They completely trashed Cap’s character making him a selfish loser, unwilling to make the sacrifice. Steve was chosen for the program because he was the guy who covered the grenade, willing to sacrifice himself for others.
It wasn’t even in Steve’s being to become a selfish Twinkle Toes Rogers like they made him. That’s what makes a hero. The willingness to make sacrifices. Even 16 year old Peter Parker was willing to make the sacrifice at the end of “No Way Home” and chose not to tell Ned and MJ his identities because it would put them in danger constantly.
We know he probably will at some time, but we’re left to believe that Steve continued to make the selfish choice until he was Joe Biden. That’s why he had nothing more to say to Falcon, because he lived a boring life, with a boring repetitive job, cutting grass and mending the fence. What was there to add? Besides he have to admit to Falcon he was a coward, never taking any chance of messing up his boring life, narrowly beating out Donald Trump for the 2020 elections.
Most of us live boring lives, that’s why we need superheroes. They’re what we want to be, not what we really are. Making Steve like the rest of us takes him out of the superhero category.
There is no explanation for how Joe Biden Steve ended up on the main timeline. We were told that any change creates a new timeline in Loki and that Kang and the TVA would have that timeline pruned. How did Steve grow to be Biden in the same timeline? His a absence in every battle he had fought would have certainly changed history a lot, but everything was the same?
Don’t tell me he came from a different timeline. How? He had no time machine, nor Pym particles to make such a trip, just to give Falcon the shield. They only wrote that stupid ending so all of the saps should go, “awwwwww.. Steve finally got the dance with Peggy.” Not realizing what that does to his character, besides being impossible for him to be there at that time, impersonating Joe Biden.
This is how screwed up the writing has become. So far, only Black Widow, Tony Stark and Quicksilver have had a hero’s death. Steve and Thor have been disgraces, especially Thor. Thor is not the bumbling sidekick, even in his own movie, who is now the butt-end of every joke, even the joke showing his butt-end. This is how bad the writing is and just how terribly they’ve ruined classic characters.
We know it’s all about virtue signaling and WOKE politics, making all of the men idiots so the women look that much smarter. It’s just gotten too old now. Thankfully, Tony got out before his character got trashed and Pepper began slapping him around all of the time like some Walter Mitty.
I agree with you right up except the second and last part, especially the one about Cap. Nonetheless, yeah, fat Thor is annoying asf and he is no different in Love and Thunder.
Taika Waititi is turning into the modern Michael Bay merely inserting flat comedy for explosions.
Waititi can do good movies. Loved "What we do in the Shadows" and "JoJo Rabbit" was really great. But you wouldn't let Zucker/Abrams/Zucker adapt Schindler's List, would you?

Depends. Some may have the talent for it. That said, if they have the talent and smarts to do so, they'd also be smart enough to downplay their involvement. For instance, Mel Brooks not putting his name to The Elephant Man, lest people got the wrong idea that his involvement with it would entail a comedic take on things, rather than the serious movie it was.
I think he’s lost his talent now imo but we’ll see what he does with Star Wars before I start sayin that
Thor Ragnarok proved that Taika can do a good Marvel film. And really Love and Thunder was probably his first misstep. And I do wonder how much interference came from Disney in this movie compared to Ragnarok.
It’s really telling how this movie is going to earn less money than the Dark World. Maybe Disney will get the message but I doubt it.
They never will sadly

I’m very nervous about Guardians 3. I really liked 1 and 2, but those were a totally different marvel era, several years ago. Might as well be a different lifetime.
I am also very nervous about Guardians 3, especially since I have recently read that the Marvels will apparently be "extremely silly". I just have no interest in seeing it now.

Interestingly, I just watched the TMNT movies (the 2014-2016 ones) and surprisingly, I dig them! Yeah the design of the turtles is weird for most, and the movie's dumb on the edges, it's meant for all ages, but at least it's got heart. It's simple but good, straightforward action piece that is enjoyable. Like the first Marvel. There's a bit of good and good comedy in between action and serious moments. At this point, I'll take a hundred of those seemingly considered "lesser" over those intersectional feminist filled movies like Marvel did since Cpt Marvel.
I did the same. Those two tmnt films were better than I remembered. Apart from Megan, she was still bad.

William Wyler.
Tiaka Wiatiti is not half the director that William Wyler was.
Taika actually became the person he played on free guy. During thor love and thunder lol.
I think you said it perfectly really. The grinding out of content even its terrible, whereas successful shows on amazon, like the boys, is just growing from strength to strength because it takes its time. The fans have no problem to wait for content if its good. Plus shows like the boys seem to have learned from the pitfalls that other franchises have fallen to, by forcing "the message" down our throats and pushing the strong female character. Audiences have no problem with female characters, they have a problem with being told all women are strong and all men are weak and evil. The female characters in the boys know this, they dont subjigate the male characters and therefore the audience. These shows and movies willl just keep failing again and again until they realize to stop putting down the very audience that buys their product.
"The Boys" is pretty left leaning, but it has a good story at the core of it.

Honestly, the start of the unraveling was giving Captain Marvel a movie before Black Widow and not connecting any of it like we know they could - it could’ve all been such a triumph but it’s horrendous.
I never liked Taika - he always gave me a feeling of pompous assholery that just rubbed me the wrong way. Humor aside - because you can be funny and still suck as a human.
He's a new zealander, they're all like that.

Razorfist wearing a Charles Bronson shirt!!!! Fucking legend!!!!
I don't understand those who say they liked Ragnarok, its the same movie as this but with a little bit less comedy, but its the same thing.
Give me the first 2 Thor everyday of the week, at least those movies tried, and they have a distinct look (like they actually hired a cinematographer) and the dialogue is leagues above any marvel project, I still can't believe they abandoned the tone of the first Thor, which even had jokes, but that Shakesperian vibe that Brenaugh brought was actually one of the few marvel movies with any theme on it.
Ragnarok for me its the same as Love and Thunder, since when would Thor throw a fn ball against a mirror and it hits him and he falls
😐

I was wondering when we were gonna get some Razor on this show. It's like all a collaboration with all my favourite youtubers and it's awesome.
I also think of Waititi as like Abrams. They're good at their own independent films but just shouldn't handle other established properties. It's good to do your own thing with your work because you're molding the template. But that template doesn't work with properties other people have set. They have their own look and feel and if you can't replicate that the fans will notice.
The crossover Marvel wishes it had.
THOR:
Fluff and Blunder.
I saved Razorfist CZcams review on The Last Jedi. Completely & utterly epic rant that was so spot on, I listen to it now & again when I need a good belly laugh. “F you, I was right, F you I was right.”
Thor Love and Thunder is just the same as recent Marvel movies: wasted potential. Some really good ideas but really poor execution. In TLaT has some great things to work with. Gorr has decent motivation for a Marvel villian. He looked like a real threat but instead of showing us Gorr annihilating the Gods, they spend time on Thor and The Guarfian goofing around which wouldn't have been necessary had they not put that part in Endgame. They have a place where all Gods live, that could have been a big attack from Gorr, but no we have to do a kid joke and the trailer bait scene. The relationship between Jane Foster and Thor should be a focal point to shows that God can care, a point that oppose the villian's view. But no we need to jump from fight scene to joke then fight scene. Not to mention they start the film 3 times by jumping everywhere. That stuff kill the movie spacing.
Drinker: "I'm gonna tell my story, my way and f*ck anyone who gets in my way." I WANT my director to say that, but only if their way is GOOD (Nolan, Villeneuve, etc.) Most SUCK.
I'm guessing most don't have the industry presence for 'their way' to be anything other than the door way
Fantastic discussion
I was listening to this at work and was like "hmm ya'know that guy sounds alot like Razorfist"😂
When the MCU can crank out low level quality and get to close to a billion dollars for each quick movie made, Marvel doesn't see the advantage to making 2 billion dollars plus on a really good movie that continues to bring in revenue for shirts, toys, lunch boxes, etc for many months or years afterward. Plus building brand loyalty and excitement for heavy duty collectors. There's no loyalty for the Captain or Ms. Marvel, people watch it only because its the next thing out. Thor is now officially a joke, Captain America retired, and Tony Stark killed off. Nice work Marvel, if you think Riri and Kamala is going to keep profits up, you've got your head up your 'BEEP'!
Ohohoho but they will kept making it nonetheless. They fuckin KNEW that any crap they spew out will make banks, regardless how awful or pandering the projects are.

It's the second Thor movie in a row where Thor doesn't beat his own villian. Why do they have such a hard time trying to make Thor a likable character in his own movies? It shouldn't be that hard
Exactly, in the first movie he was kind of likeable with his fighting spirit and joking with friends while still making him an arrogant asshole. And he obviously changed by the second movie but still joked and liked fighting, but also used some smarts to plan. I still don't get how people can say he doesn't have a sense of humor.
@@MeiHuxian19 the problem with his sense of humour in the later movies is that it's all at his own expense and it makes Thor look like a bumbling moron
@@specialk8888 Exactly, and it contradicts the smarts I mentioned before, and the wisdom he's gained on his journey before the last 2 movies. And frankly, I don't recall the "he uses humor to mask/deal with pain" thing happening in the first 2 movies, that suddenly happened in Infinity War, went heavier to butt monkey in End Game with Fat Thor, and then evolved into the making him the idiot you mentioned. The Peter Principle - You will be promoted to your highest level of incompetence.
The story was tight before Kevin Feige's last promotion.
Thor is the God of Thunder not the god of buffoonery. I made the mistake of seeing Ragnarok and disliked it intently. The occasional joke or lighthearted moment to relieve tension is a Marvel trademark. Making your title character the butt of every one of those jokes wasn't until Taika came along. His style seems more in line with the Three Stooges than a Marvel property. I think it is time for Marvel to go to a used bookstore buy a copy of the Oxford English Dictionary printed before 1980 and re-examine the definition of the word Hero. The problem with throwing excrement at the wall just to see what sticks is, eventually your wall/franchise is covered in shit.
Glad I wasn't the only one that detested that movie.
