My gut feeling is Disney will protect The Marvels at all cost which means buying ghost seats in the theaters.
When your movie HAS to make $800 million, you really need to evaluate what your doing.
Just to break even, that's complete insanity.
@@okagronAnd even if this film were to make 900m-1b, these studios don't shell out that much money just to make 100-200m. So, considering that, this fil needs to make I'd say 1.2b-1.5b to be called a success. And this is the case with many movies now, specifically from Disney.
Ironically tho it’s the massive budgets that end up making the movies shit in the first place. Because they know they have to appeal to the biggest possible audience, they end up being designed by committee to appeal to the lowest common denominator. That’s why they all feel so formulaic and bland at best, and absolutely moronic at worst.
It's just (((money laundering))).
This movie will make Drinker and CZcams creators more money than Disney will make from it. It’s going to be the pinnacle of the failures of the M-She-U

I think of Disney's anti male turn for Marvel & Star Wars as sort of like if Hallmark decided that they wanted to broaden their audience to include more men. So, they reduce the amount of romance, increase the amount of action/violence, recast some of their favorite reoccurring characters as men, and have everybody on screen talk up the new male version as better than the loser woman version that they replaced, switch from all female lead shows to (almost) all male lead shows, and everything else Disney is doing but in reverse. They also fire most of their existing writers and hire a bunch of male writers straight out of a frat house. Then they are shocked, shocked, when their existing female customers reject the changes. In reaction Hallmark calls all of their existing customers misandrists. Then are shocked again when their existing female customers take offense at just wanting the content that made them Hallmark customers to begin with. To top it all off, the men never really show up. Anyway, that's how I see how all of Disney's problems can be seen as a failed attempt to expand their customer base, and doing it in a way guaranteed to lose their existing customers in the process.
I don´t wanna be the grammar guy, but i truly suggest you researching "loose" vs. "lose"
@@Morpheus-pt3wq Now I wonder what a "looser woman" Hallmark movie would be...
A lot of Hallmark movies do appeal to at least some men. They don't berate and belittle men the way other movies do. If they portrayed the man as weak, incompetent and misogynistic, women wouldn't find them romantic.
My question is this:
Is Lacey Chavert going to be wearing tight revealing clothes while carrying big guns and spouting one liners?
If so, I'll subscribe!

Only way to save Captain Marvel is to turn her into an antagonist IMHO.
That plus a sexy boob emphasizing costume.. fridge ms marvel … real director.. that’d work
And then kill her, humiliatingly and finally! And NEVER bring her back!
Brie Larsen's portrayal has certainly been Captain Marvel's worst enemy; so, I think we're there already.
That might be interesting. She's so overpowered she's boring. That makes her only interesting as an adversary.
Not the worst idea honestly but they'll never do that in a billion years
On the topic of recasts, they should've recast Black Panther. His character wasn't given the heroic conclusion that he should've had, and let's be honest: no one prefers his sister to him. But, it's not like they couldn't have recast him (they recast Rhodey and Banner, after all), it's that they didn't want to. It shows they don't care about the stories and characters more than they do having certain actors in the roles. On that note, I don't see them recasting Iron Man or Captain America anytime soon.
Disney said Chadwick Bozeman was important.
Disney said Black Panther was important.
Disney never said T'Challa was important. Hence no recasting.
No, because that would be role-scabbing, which should be against union rules.
They did a calculation and they decided that they could get more by selling Bozeman's corpse. They probably decided wrong.
That's not really a good comparison since Rhodey and Banner's first actors were only there for one movie and the MCU was barely anything back then. Chadwick made his mark in multiple appearances during the peak of the MCU, so I can understand not recasting him. I do agree that I don't like his sister either.
@@abicrystalwing1543 Nah wrong dude and I agree with what you say in part.
But...
Why are they recasting Thaddeus Ross as a Red Hulk Ross?
Shuri is a fun sidekick but a mary sue...The way she's smarter than Banner and Stark...even the writing with her in BP1 was lame.
Ant-Man Quantumania had the beloved Paul Rudd, plus whatsername Freckles from LOST, Michele Pfeiffer and Michael Douglas, plus BILL MURRAY in the ads! What's this movie got besides a very tired Samuel L. Jackson, a lead actress who has no appeal and two characters almost no one knows from two streaming service shows? Mind you, I was really hoping the SHIELD characters from the TV show might have shown up in Endgame (because Quake has more charm than half the female characters in that infamous group shot and the prospect of a bunch of Patton Oswalts armed with huge guns just gives me the grins), so I'm not opposed to TV characters in a joined universe in theory. But there are no stars in "The Marvels"! To say that Marvels will get almost Quantumania money is nuts.
The geek community, which had girls, was mostly a boys club. It was a group of guys who would read every comic, every side story, every back issue.... Why ever did Disney think that non-geeks would do this?
You don’t get a Endgame to nearly 3 billion dollars from just comic reading losers. The general audience have to be on board for a film to be a financial success, Dredd is a good example of this. The Snyder Justice League is another.
@@MZ99698 no, but there's a reason why comic reading losers would dedicate thousands of hours to their hobby, most normal people would love to read a comic book if you gave it to them, they just wouldn't seek it out on their own.
that means that there's a (or more) common common denominating factor that makes people enjoy comic books, the same goes for their movie equivalents, if the common factor(s) are poorly set up, then not even the normie loser won't enjoy the movie and the comic book loser will hate it.
@@HarrDarr rewrite that and make it make sense.
@@MZ99698 there is a reason why a medium resonates with people, normies can latch on to that and if it's done in a halfassed manner, not even they will be interested
Considering how the first movie was handled in terms of PR and the media attacking the audience, and also how terrible the current phase has been, it doesn't surprise me at all that the prediction are so low.
By killing Tony Stark and retiring Steve Rogers, it made Endgame feel like the end. then instead of waiting a year and doing something fresh like F4 of X-men they just kept on churning out slop with their B cast. you could recast characters, but also give it time, like 5-10 years of them not being important, cause Tony Stark still feels important to the MCU in its current form.
💯

First MCU movie I will not go to in over 20 years. Thanks Disney, Im tied of being called racist and misogynist for not liking your movies because they are terrible. Now, you dont get my money,
I disagree with the idea that Carol Danvers is a good character. The character has an infamous track record of failing to sell comics. She’s (at best) been a useful member of a team or as an interesting plot device in other much more popular characters’ stories. The second the MCU tried to push Carol Danvers as the Marvel equivalent of Wonder Woman, every Marvel comics fan knew a huge mistake was being made.
Their big problem is that they don't just want 'Carol Danvers'. They want 'Carol Danvers, the best and most popular hero evar'. This is part of what made her comics so insufferable as well. They WANT her to be rully popular and awesome, but by pushing it so hard they're producing the opposite effect. It's like an uncool person trying to be cool.
@@HerculesBallsInc the best Carol Danvers was when she tagged along with the X-Men after she lost her powers and the X-Men were shook up after the Marauders tore through them. She helped make Rogue, Dazzler, and Betsy Braddock beloved X-Men characters in a time when the book could have really gone south with Colossus, Nightcrawler, and Storm being powerless or injured. The book kind of went female-centric during that time, but it was still good. Carol was actually relatable, wise, and clever because she didn’t have the superpowers to rely on. She even did it while teamed up with Rogue, which really showed her maturity. When the MCU tries to push her as some savior of the universe it really shows that they’ve learned nothing from the comic failures.
@@AV57 Humility and maturity is something that seems to be lacking from a lot of Hollywood productions lately.
Wonder Woman dressed and acting like a man.
They think that being able to be super duper strong and invulnerable is enough to make her popular. What they fail to realize is that those kinds of characters are boring on their because there are no stakes. Instead, personality and supporting cast are crucial to make these stories succeed.
Watch or read One Punch Man instead.
The thing that kills me about Brie Larson as Captain Marvel is that she can play a fun character. She was fine in Skull Island and she totally hammed it up in Scott Pilgrim.
I think her agent or Disney told her to ham up the uber feminist nonsense and it backfired especially in those interviews with her cast members. She's probably not a terrible person if you take her out of the Hollywood bubble. Because she was a fairly respected actress due to the The Room until the whole MCU thing came about.
@@vanessac1721 That Room movie looked so stupid. Skull Island and that movie she was in with a lot of famous people where everyone was shooting other was pretty good though.
Surely the multiverse is being setup for infinite recasting opportunities, alternate Tony Stark's etc whenever you need them
The Drinker is the mate every bloke should've had when he was in his 20s...😂
Recasting characters has been a long Hollywood tradition. However, it takes creative good writing to make it work of which Hollywood is severely lacking these days.
Recasting only works when the “universe is reset” a la James Bond Batman movies/ spiderman movies etc. each time an actor takes over it’s an entire reset, the mcu doesn’t have that luxury and has essentially become an abomination of random characters being fit into bad story telling.
It's been a long tradition, yes, but it's not always gone well. I couldn't even tell you how many different Dumbledores the Harry Potter movies had. Even the recasts that went well often went well simply because the new actor took the role in a different but equally good direction. I personally can't stand the new 'Rhodie' in the MCU.
I'm neutral on Brie Larson and don't really care for Captain Marvel as a character but even I find that idea that she isn't the main focus of her own film an eye roll. Redeem her as a character with a good movie, don't distract with even lesser characters.
Brie was a lesser character in endgame and wasn't appealing enough in her first movie preceeding it for people to keep their eyes on her afterwards she's always been taking L's ever since her first utterance as captain marvel
@@Altares_V if i'm not mistaken, the Captain Marvel character (male or fem) has always been one of Marvel's "struggle bus" characters, where even the print media for them struggles to make noteable numbers.
@@kirby2567 you're not incorrect however the MCU was at its highest grossing point in history and Brie was an actor that has been in other movies...it was her own fault she sabotaged any inkling of future success in the franchise by talking down to her own core audience
Captain Marvel is shit to the core, what's the point of watching shit.
If she played to her strengths, meaning her looks, she would do well.
They really should've saved Captain Marvel for later. There's so many cosmic villains in the comic books she could've helped set up and now that's just gone

Just out of curiosity, why is the character itself so hated.
@@richardturner4074 She wasn't hated, back when she was Ms. Marvel. Rouge stole her powers and put her in a coma for probably twenty years real time. About five years ago they woke the character up, but now the attractiveness of a beautiful blond was completely erased, the artists making her look like a boy or a butch lesbian (among some comic fans, Carol Danvers became Carol Man-vers) and of course she was a total woke Mary Sue. She received something like half a dozen different solo books over the last half decade, each of which was quickly cancelled for lack of sales, yet the leftist activists posing as Marvel writers keep shoving her down fans' throats, in the hope that THIS time it will be different. Superhero movie fatigue is not what's happening, it's just bad story telling fatigue. If they did a great job of story telling, even Brie Larson could make a great Captain Marvel movie. There are many actors that are obnoxious in person, but make great actors. The MCU is suffering from poor story telling. A good and strong director with good writers could pull it off.
As far as I'm concerned, RDJ is Tony Stark, and Chris Evans is Captain America. Marvel should have treated its remaining legacy characters like the Winter Soldier, Thor, Loki, Dr Strange, the Scarlet Witch and Falcon with more respect. 10 years ago I would have been wild with excitement at the idea of a TV series about these guys. It should have been awesome.

Y'know...I was never a big fan of Ms. Marvel back in the days when she was known by that moniker and wore that black one-piece with the yellow lightning bolt. But I remember I thought she looked cool, she had cool powers, and she always had a smile. Really struck me as a fun character. If I had to pick a point where Marvel completely passed the point of no return, it's when they ditched that classic design and renamed her. Sure other factors were at play, but the change from Ms. Marvel to Capt. Marvel was symbolic of everything going wrong at the time. I wish we could someday get that old version back.

If even people who liked Captain Marvel like me aren't interested in The Marvels, due to the drop in quality of the films and the endless reams of new shows, they really are in big trouble.
Recasting the Avengers only would work in a reboot. If that was their plan, they should've ended this MCU at Edgame.
Only they wouldn't, having access to too many heroes at the time to explore (Thor, Spider Man, Guardians, Strange, Black Panther, Wanda, and so on). Even if all the movies of the MCU after Thanos were great, successfuly managing an interconected universe from then would be a nightmare. But they not just made too crapy movies, they also made a ton of crapy streaming shows people were supposed to follow as well.
This movie will win dozens of Stunning&Brave-Awards. That's better than making money.

Abox office disaster that will cost them hundreds of millions... good.
It's like no one at Marvel realized that people were invested in the existing characters rather than the brand...
Absolutely 100% recast. James Bond, Batman, ... it does work. Given that they could get one more movie at least out of the current characters. Have the nanites from Tony's suit go in and bond with his DNA and repair him. Then Iron Man is truly iron to the core. It's comics...I'm sure crazier shit has happened.
My favorite thing? Seeing who is sponsoring what.
Massive corprotations wanted to be the AVENGERS brand. I cannot see Dr Pepper without thinking of Iron Man. Fast food places had GotG toys and ads, etc.
Higher grossing movies and franchises get mega deals with high profit fast food like McDonalds, Wendys, Burger King etc. Lower gross ones are at Subway, Taco Bell, etc.
The Marvels? Pita Pit.
They're so cheap the Pita Pit can afford a previous $1B franchise.
Maybe they can get together with the writers of Rings of Power and do a crossover. Sauron vs the cat would be epic.
Its a good day to be Thor: The Dark World
I’m sure it cost about 50 million more than disney will admit because they always lie about production costs, especially on these moved and massively reshot movies.
I WANT them to recast the entire original male cast of The Avengers with race-swapped & gender-swapped non-binary body-positive versions of the original ones, and be damned. I SOOOO want that, seriously. Recast Captain America with Lizzo, etc. & get it over with. Let it all burn, and let's roast marshmallows over Disney's ashes in quiet apathy.
I think this is going to struggle to match The Eternals box office, it might stuggle to pass $400M worldwide box office. Its looking to compete with worst box office failures in history over $300M in losses probably more.
So they added animals to try an make Lawson more appealing to the audience?
I'd love to see a movie just about the cat.

You also have to watch Secret Invasion on top of Miss Marvel, Wandavision and Captain Marvel. Instead of having already seen these because Marvel entertainment wasn’t something you skipped, we now get homework to go watch the tripe so you can understand how they got here. I wasn’t a big fan of Jessica Jones in comics but I watched her show to fill me in before I watched the Defenders. Willingly. That is the key. We need the illusion of the choice to watch this stuff and to feel rewarded for doing so by tying it all together in a neat little bow as you come to the subsequent appearances.
Crazy how The Creator cost 80 million to make, and yet The Marvels making that amount on its opening weekend is considered a disaster.
The only thing I really know about Miss Marvel is that the comicbook pretty much gets canceled every year and then gets rebooted to get canceled. Clownfish tv thinks someone wants her to be face of marvel like Peter Parker but she just has no audience.
There is no Infinity War or Endgame to save this film.
Checking across Disney/Hollywood/Star Wars/M-She-U/Mandalorian etc, there's a recent massive swing against the DEI narrative that's being dictating media production. At the individual actor level, the trait I've observed is that they will adopt the public position that gives themselves the best personal advantage, irrespective of their gender, skin color etc. Go figure. In Brie's case, she was all about supporting the toning down of male superheros in favor of females, when she was in the centre of the conversation. When they split her role across three different females, and she was the white female, her attitude was very different.
If Brie had somebody read the room temperature properly for her, she would dis-align from woke, and hope that you're in the mix with a legacy films advantage. At the bottom of any ideolgy are the idealistic, semi-informed masses, and at the top are the people who *follow the money*. That's enough to explain this to me.
The most unbelievable thing from the trailer is that Ms. Marvel is apparently a huge fan of Captain Marvel. Why?
Maybe that answer will be revealed, like it was revealed why Kate Bishop is a fan of Hawkeye. I liked Ms Marvel and the actress playing her and have no issue with Brie Larson/Captain Marvel. Ms Marvel is really goofy and seems more child like than Kate and could just like that Captain Marvel is powerful and lights up. lol I do feel the writing could be better for some of these shows. Maybe they could have had Captain Marvel appear in an episode of Ms Marvel, not just a end credit cameo. I'm not saying others don't have a right to dislike it but I will be seeing the Marvels and hopefully it's entertaining.
Because she's the bestest evaaaarrrrrrr
@@trevorthornley8835 It's been 4 years, time to move on lol
@@kicknowledgesmith8608 you don't think I'm serious do you?
@@trevorthornley8835 nope, I think you are being sarcastic, mocking Larson/Captain Marvel due to comments the actress made 4 to 6 years ago, but many making bank talking about her 24/7 so I guess she isn't that bad, they don't want her gone, they need her. I don't understand how many claim to hate her but videos about her get the most views lol
I’d like to see a male gaze friendly captain marvel directed by James Gunn and introducing the blue marvel .: I think that plus maybe spider man or Thor coulda been epic
Funny how they spend the effort to set up multiple co-stars to try and boost this film's chance of success, and in the end they'd be better off if they just introduced characters in the movie instead because their set ups were so poorly received it's being seen as dreary "homework" that the audience didn't do, and they're having to butcher the film's run time to try and make it watchable anyway. They may have even lowered the films chance of success by trying to make it an ensemble film (with the characters they chose to go with), and that's probably one of the most 'planned out' things they've done since phase 3. What a failure of a plan.
Recasting those characters this soon is an awful idea. You have the Fantastic Four and the X-Men, they haven't done anything with those characters, they honestly could just pivot into using those characters first and let the Avengers rest.
CM 2, the most amazing perfect storm of failure this world will experience. (but not see in theatres). Its had to comprehend how we live in a day & age where we know for a fact a film is completely doomed before it's even put in production.
Captain Marvel got punched by Thanos. That was her importance to Endgame.
There has only ever been one James Bond, Sean Conner. He immortalized the character.
you mean Sean Connery?
@@ItsaKindOfMagic86No, Sean Conner. Leader of the future resistance against SPYNET.

Disney will fix everything with :
1- New official logo
2- 5 back to back success fillms after the new logo.
When’s Mauler gonna make his 3 hour breakdown of secret invasion?? Those videos are fucking hilarious
I'm honestly mostly fine with how Endgame played out, and I'm alright with Captain Marvel being there, BUT I would've rather her role have gone to someone like Rogue who has a lot of history with Carol Danvers (who in turn has history with Jessica Jones). I'm alright with Iron Man, Captain America, and Hulk graciously bowing out of the limelight to make room for other stories, but those stories should've been headed by the X-Men and Fantastic Four, and Spider-Man becoming the face of the MCU as he should be. I'm alright with She-Hulk, Daredevil, and even Ironheart existing, but they should exist on merit and quality, not for equality. Quality > Equality.
Yup. The fox rights issue was unfortunate
800 million just to break even, honestly, I really think Disney needs to fire those in charge of finances, because there seems to be nobody responsible in charge of their budgets!
The problem with trying to recast Iron Man and Captain America is that these characters finished their story arcs and really have nowhere to go from here. Iron Man made the ultimate sacrifice to save humanity and with no more battles to fight, Steve was ready to settle down with the woman he loves. I don't wanna see these characters forcibly brought back with fresh baby faces playing them just for the sake of safe familiarity.
My take is that the superhero genre would've lasted for at least another decade if Disney hadn't infested every movie with one-sided, hypocritical portrayals of socio-political issues.
Calling it superhero fatigue isn't correct. It's Disney fatigue. It's fatigue of having one-sided hypocritical politics shoved down our throats at every turn and being called racists and sexist for not bending over and begging for more. It is fatigue of spending every waking hour of our lives being called racists and sexist because of our skin color and gender regardless of whether we're stalwart believers of equal rights and equal value. It is fatigue of hypocrisy.
They must be contractually obligated to make X number of movies per character? I don't understand why anyone would make this movie.
They recast War Machine with one sentence in Iron Man Two, if good actor choices are made for replacements, could be done for the legacy characters. As long as the story is good as we move forward.
If Marvel is currently a sinking ship, then recasting and reintroducing Tony and Steve with new actors would be dropping a nuke on the titanic while it's going down.
Nah. Carol Danvers was never popular even in comics. Brie may not have helped but there really isn't any good story the MCU could have drawn from with her.
