Said it before and I'll say it again: they've committed full enchanticide.
Any magic that properties like MARVEL and DC once held is now non-existent. I react to seeing Superman or Spiderman's symbol exactly the same way I react to Hello Kitty's blank, soulless stare.
"Oh. Someone condescending wants to sell me something. Pass."
Warner and DC have used that kind of branding for decades, maybe you're just waking uo to it but the souless corporate thing is pretty much DC's schtick since Warner bought them.
I'd put my money on Hello Kitty at this point if it was in a Disney / Marvel flick - she would be a strong female character , invincible , stoic , smarter than any male like Spiderman/Superman and a destructive force of perfection. A Hello Kitty Damage Dealer :)
Spiderman and Batman still have a reputation.
Enchanticide? I like it and I hope it catches on in the modern lexicon. I tried coining the phrase “Trickle-down Bidenomics” to explain inflation and it never caught on.
Hello Kitty has far more credibility at this point.
The MCU is quickly becoming the Sears of entertainment - a once formidable brand that is now just a hollow representation of what it once was.

It's so pathetic it is not with our notice.
The problem is that the MCU never was that. The AVENGERS and the build up to it were the main driving force. It was always going to go down from there. Even their highly successful sequels in the first phases were recognized as being inferior, but due to the interest in avengers films, people went to watch it. Phase one was just so well made and culminated perfectly with avengers that everyone’s interest in seeing the final bookend, aka, Endgame, that they rode that wave. They did a horrible job in making sure we’d stick around, and they had 10 years to figure THAT part out. They failed.
and it scams its customers. just like sears...
In vidya games, seeing a review embargo set to drop the day before release is often a blatant admission that the game's trash and the devs/publisher are dishonestly trying to hide it to mitigate lost sales.

The fact that these billion dollar corporations are so terrible at planning ahead for their billion dollar franchises is such a ridiculous concept, it truly boggles the mind.
I still cannot fathom how organisations can fail so completely and utterly with so much money on the line.
I am completely blown away by their incompetence.
Because the criteria for employability is political leaning/face as opposed to competence. "Good product" in their minds isn't "what makes the most money", good is "what is politically correct" and what makes them look good in front of their other Hollywood friends. It's a big club that all thinks the same way and thinks themselves better than the plebs.
Force yourself to see from their viewpoint; I am god, I am right, I am making proclamations. There is no wrong on their view. There is honest shock that we all don't walk in lock step. This millennia is the age of the ego. I'm begging EVERYONE, corral your ego!

If only infinity war was actually the final movie of marvel. That would have been legendary.
Than there would be no No Way Home or Deadpool 3 or secret wars
So nah we good lil bro
Imagine if they had kept all those heroes dead and simply built up the new roster of heroes in a more organic way. Iron Heart could've been Iron Man's new apprentice, but perhaps he's reluctant to train because he's afraid he will lose her like he lost Peter. Or imagine Thor getting an actual character arc where he has to reflect on his failure to kill Thanos and how he loses control of his hammer because he doesn't see himself as worthy anymore (can't remember if it's been done already.)
Instead we get time travel shenanigans. A shame.

Secret Wars!... I'm just now understanding that you are trolling! Your comment was a joke. Because no one in the world can think Secret Wars in any way elevated what the first 3 phases of the MCU built up. Secret Wars was so boring and dumb, it baffles me it was released in that state.
So, nah, Infinity War was the biggest and last peak of the MCU. The MCU and the Avengers would have had a much better legacy if they had ended the entire franchise around that time.

Nothing says "I'm confident in my product!" like a review embargo.
Press embargos serve a legitimate purpose - ensuring that the reviewers who saw the film early have plenty of time to write their review, without being rushed, or pressured to cut corners to get their article out before anyone else. It can also shape press coverage around the time of release - ensuring that all the good press goes online at the same time, hopefully drowning out the bad press for a while, but that's more a function of who was selected to get an advance screening, and who has to obtain the film themselves after it's released.
@@takatamiyagawa5688 I would add that some products are extremely susceptible to leaks and spoilers and so embargoes are kept on long for that reason as well.
But let's be honest with ourselves: do we really think this long embargo is because this particular product is just too good, or because the product is just too bad?
Apathy is also a good description of the director of The Marvels. She said Kevin Feige pointed out to her that The Marvels is a sequel to 5 other projects and she was like "oh I hadn't thought of that" so her film is just going to be a disconnected goofy FX showpiece that'll have about as much impact as The Eternals which featured the planet being cracked open like an egg as a Celestial was born and nobody cared or ever mentioned it.

You'll be happy to know that the ad that CZcams played for me on this video was one for _"The Marvels"._ 🙂
I expect that a reboot of the whole universe just cannot recreate the excitement of the original. For one thing, when the _"Iron Man"_ movie came out, audiences weren't expecting all *that* much from it. But Robert Downey Jr and a captivating character arc turned that movie into a major success.
For one, the current writers don't know how to write a character arc, and for two they've got to do at *least* as good as the first _"Iron Man"_ movie (both story-wise and box-office sales) just to reach the level of fans not being irritated that the movie even exists.
Will never happen.
Perfect.
Everything is going exactly how you assumed it would.
I wonder if this movie winds up losing $300 million
And this is how the superhero movie fad ends. Not with a bang, but a whimper.
Marvel has nothing to worry about. There are enough Grace Randolph type reviewers out there, that will grade any movie on a curve if it fits a diversity quota.
I'm going to go out on a bit of a limb... The shills are still gonna shill.
They've ruined their own reputations as reviewers, so they might as well keep collecting those paychecks from the studios.
"HE VADERED!!!"
Disney - “Our current business model is to never ask our customers what they would really like to see. We have our own internal focus groups of men with beards that get to watch what they want for free.”
Pretty sure that at Disney only the women have beards.
women with beards and men with buns.
Women who have no idea what blokes want to see, and men who appeal to their every whim.
As usual, the problem is men with no balls or values, and women with wildly incorrect world views.
That actually sounds like an improvement.
I don't disagree that the Super Hero genre is in decline, particularly on the big screen, but I'd argue that's the result of a dramatic decline in quality from the big studios. There's still massive interest in the super hero genre, but the best works in the genre being made now are satires, like Invincible and The Boys. Those works are extremely popular. Not only are they highlighting the ridiculousness of the Marvel and DC offerings, they're providing good stories, and great characters. The Batman was also well received. It's not fatigue with the genre, but irritation with poor quality.
I never knew anyone who was a Super Hero or comic book fan. My dad was a Superman fan back in the late '40's. Does that count?
Invincible is completely sincere. Well, the source material is and the show is trying to be.
No, the fatigue is real. I’m pretty much done with superhero movies for the foreseeable future. I didn’t even care about Spiderverse.
Just remember guys, it has to get worse before it gets better. Disney’s pockets must bleed before their movies are forced to improve for them to survive. If they don’t survive and keep making crap, then the market will replace them somehow
I love that review embargoes tell you more about how bad a film is likely to be than an actual avalanche of bad reviews. They can’t STOP shooting themselves in the foot😂
For the last 7-8 years Hollywood has put too much reliance on superhero films, sequels, remakes and letting the name sell itself instead of any good marketing. Seems like this generation of writers don’t understand what makes a good story, etc. especially in the world of comedy and horror.
Nothing screams 'faith in your product' more than a review embargo.
The interest didn't evaporate just because it's been 20 years. It's the direction the show runners have taken the Marvel franchise over those most recent years. And no, people wouldn't be interested in a reboot because it would just be more of the bad direction things have been going.
I am totally confused as to how long woke Hollywood has been allowed to go on. It's survived at least five years longer than i ever would have guessed.

The MCU still could've gone another 10-15 years if they kept doing what they started out doing.
That would have required ignoring the online political shift of the last 5 years, which NO ONE seems to have been able to do.
By giving directors creative freedom while also building a larger narrative?
Big doubt
Yeah it could’ve gone on but there’s no way it would have had anywhere near the success as it had in the past. The quality of superhero movies going down is absolutely a huge factor but people are straight up just tired of superhero stuff in general even if they are good. I’ve had friends check out of the MCU even before infinity war and although I like the Boys and Invincible, I’m not hyped about their upcoming seasons either cuz it’s just tiring seeing the same thing over and over again. Zombies are also no longer in fashion and I have zero interest in watching the Last of Us on HBO even though it has received stellar reviews and the game is one of my favorites. People absolutely just get tired of genres even if the quality remains good.
The only way of redeeming Marvel. aside from scraping the whole thing; is to Introduce Dr Doom and show that he was behind it all. Doom gave Wanda the book, Doom was the controlling Peter's fate getting into college, Doom conspired with Shang Chi's sister, Cassie was studying with Doom to create the portal, etc. Now this is a huge stretch, but it could get things back on track; even just to show the movies are interconnected.
Using Doom as an allegory for Kathleen Kennedy.
I like your Dr. Doom idea; the only insurmountable problem they have to overcome is that everything is interconnected to a neighboring turd.
Doom should have killed T'challa during the opening prologue of Wakanda Forever, that film should have been a European colonialism take on Doom's desire for vibranium, and Doom should have been an antagonist moving forward.
@@michaelbock149this!!!! 100%. They missed the perfect opportunity
*Remember* , if you're the kind of person who actually wants to see if a movie is really as bad as as these guys say, make sure you buy the ticket for another movie entirely so that you don't boost the bad movie's metrics and sneak in to see it.

Yarr!
Movie theaters these days sell tickets to specific seats, so you run a risk of getting kicked out if someone else buys the seat you've snuck into.
It’s Econ 101. The more you have of something, the less valuable it becomes. What makes it even worse is when you create a product that nobody wants while forcing and insane ideology on your customers at the same time. It’s true for movies and true for the US dollar.
I would warn against oversimplification. Picasso made over 50,000 pieces of art during his life and the least of them is likely more valuable than the five pieces of art my child drew that I still have. Or, to draw another example, I enjoy some book series specifically BECAUSE they have so many volumes that I know I can read and read and read and not exhaust them for months. Of course some are better than others, but none are really terrible. And I think it's that last point that Disney failed at. Comics fans could have easily dug up hundreds of issues of material that could easily have been turned into legendary movies for decades if they only took the cream of the crop. Instead... Disney went a different direction, emphasizing identity politics over fan favourite stories, even though that same politics has pretty much destroyed the modern comic industry. This outcome was entirely predictable and entirely avoidable.
@@MereologistIt's when you create something, rub out small areas of said creation and scrubble new colours and lines into those blots you rubbed out and call it a brand new creation, isn't it?
It puzzles me why companies reuse material when dealing with the same IP when they could do something original instead of making sequals. Guardians of the Galaxy for example. Taking place in the same universe but is largely completely new, despite knowing Iron Man and Spiderman are out there somewhere. It's fresh and it's different. Personally, if I only ate cheese, I'd become bored of it very quickly.
@@Samson1 They're cowards, really. They don't want to take risks with new material. And then know they can't just put out the same movie again because people already saw it. So they do exactly what you said: try and change as little as possible and call it a 'remake' or a 'reimagining' or a 'sequel'. It's foolish because it waters down interest in their intellectual property. Terminator used to be the biggest thing ever, and now it's dirt. Like Star Wars, Doctor Who, Marvel, DC, etc, etc, etc.
Relative scarcity. That is exactly what it is. If they released one Marvel movie every year, they could make more than releasing 4-5 every year.

I mean the director, herself, is already trying to do damage control. Why release a movie expecting it to fail? Just give it the ol' 'Batgirl' treatment.

The problem is that you wouldn't be able to verify EITHER the studio OR fan collected numbers. @@UmbraMan1 Again that's the rumor. I don't know how accurate it is or not.
Using the cameo as an excuse is bullshit. By that logic _every_ movie would be justified in dropping an embargo to "protect" people from spoilers.
Never a good sign when a company's new product is being treated less like "exiting thing everyone should hear about" than "contagion that we need to prevent from spreading to limit the damage". Perversely, I imagine the one thing that could help "Marvels" right now is a big charm offensive from the leads, touting how the movie is fantastic, everyone had such a good time, the movie is for everyone, etc.. But obviously, that can't happen right now.
Two of the three main characters are from series, not the movies. How many people have a Disney+ account and have watched it?
One of the main issues with reading comics is needing to read multiple different titles if you want to keep up with your favorite character. The MCU is weakening itself by requiring needing a Disney+ account to know what is going on in their movies.
I mean the excuse they're prepping for the floundering performance are two:
1. Super Hero "fatigue" (ie. the audience doesn't want to swallow any actual shit they crap out)
2. The strikes
Of which, you can call bullshit on both.
It's a shame. Because if they used all the lore correctly and followed well written comic book stories I think there wouldn't have been "super hero fatigue".. the repetitive nature of super hero movies kills it for me.
They just need to bring back animated superhero movies. Takes a lot less money to make. They can write better stories and have characters do stunts or feats that aren’t possible irl. This would also rebuild the franchises to get audiences interested in movies again
They already have them, and for some reason they are better on average than the live-action stuff, which is bizarre, since the same studio is involved in making both. Which makes me wonder - if they ACTUALLY put the animated project writers on the live-action stuff and dump the live-action writers who bring absolutely NO value to the brand (and actively damages it), might we get BETTER products?
The problem is bad scripts and forced (vs organic) diversity.
The Expanse did diversity right; that’s my benchmark for ‘organic’ diversity.
@@sigmacademyyea. They have some already but I think they should focus more on it. But I don’t think so, sometimes it’s the directors but I think that working in live action is just harder and Disney has made poor choices on how fast they want to produce these films and they cut corners with writers, editing, cgi, etc. animation is much easier to do
@@sigmacademy I sometimes feel it's the live-action in and of itself that is somehow a detriment to the product. I guess it's because they're trying to make it more realistic, serious and "legit".
And sometimes they run into technical limitations because of the super powers involved. The MCU version of Ms Marvel had her entire power set changed because the Disney+ series didn't have the SFX budget and know-how to make her stretching powers work (though that comes across as a bit dubious if you consider Netflix One Piece)
@devodevo-ti8pg I dunno, those Spiderverse movies have so far been pretty consistent in their success and general perception
Ironic, I got a trailer ad for the film before watching this. Couldn’t help but laugh.
ESPN is showing trailers for The Marvel's with lots of glorious praise
If Marvel does Secret Wars with Spider-man meeting the X-Men, that could be pretty good.
I seriously doubt they have writers competent enough to do that, though.
It won’t happen. Come on dude. You can’t still be having hope for this hopeless company.
@@blacklivesorblackvotes2985It's the one idea I think that would be good. Not that it would save them. And knowing modern Hollywood writers, they would find a way to ruin it anyway with politics.
Enthusiasm WOULD be there if they ACTUALLY brought out fun and interesting superhero movies. Unfortunately for them, several foreign film markets are starting up their OWN superhero universes (like the Bumilangit cinematic universe, and Bollywood has started up SEVERAL cinematic universes, including in other genres like action), some of which have received mixed reactions (like Satria Dewa Gatotkaca and Sri Asih) , but ALL of which are AT least non-political and have fun scenes to watch. Chinese CGI and animation have progressed to the point where at least MOST of their movies using it doesn't break immersion and Filipino, Indonesian and Thai horrors are starting to become quite decent B-movie fare (and hoping they lean more heavily into their mythological, martial arts and superhero franchises in the coming years).
There's a planet in this movie that is at perfect peace and completely ruled and dominated by women. This, coming on the heels of the Panderverse, is going to be pure gold.
Marvel/DC should hold out until 2030 and start everything fresh.
By then, everyone will be far from caring and their company will be bankrupt
Now now Drinker, I think it's a little unfair to have a splash page with Brie doing that pose. You should put the director/writers on there as they are the ones ducking it all up. Otherwise, keep up the good work.
Panic? No, its just too perfect to spoil it for us.
Yea, it's not because of a cameo. Because we all know how those Marvel cameo's turn out. Harry Styles
I don't wait until after Marvel movies anymore, I just youtube it while I am at the theatre. Most of the time now, I just leave, it isn't worth it. I'm sure "Campea" will champion it as the new herald of MCU
Comic fans may or may not tolerate constant reboots or resets, but the average moviegoer has little more than zero tolerance for such things. Even recastings are hard to make stick most times.
The Marvels will be a movie that will be a great source of creativity...for those who love to lampoon the the foolishness driving modern superhero films.
Damn, Nerdrotic looks like he’s aged 25 years
I think he is in the 30s
Having a career that consists of whining about films online does that to you IG
@@21Handguns he doesn't whine about films. He just gloriously makes fun of Hollywood shit. His critics however, they're the whiners ruining their lives.
Gary looks his age, he’s 54.🤓
@@21Handguns then you must look 80 whining about said CZcamsrs all day, except oh, you DON’T get paid in any but social credit points. Lol sit.
If there's one word that is more convoluted than any other it's multiverse
Remember it was Marvel themselves who said Captain Marvel was the most powerful character in the MCU. Now she’s back and needs the help of people who are mystical lightbulbs. They could have literally done a story about why she couldn’t help on earth and what massive issues she was dealing with with all her strength…
Nope nope. Nonsense.
Exactly this. They assume fans are dumb and drive them away.
I actually think the may through July movies were pretty good.
SOUND OF FREEDOM top movie of the year and it got 7x the cost and little to no marketing!!! Real stories, smaller movie companies
I hope everyone is taking a moment to pause and reflect on the irony that Woke Writing and messaging is what has killed DISNEY in general, Star Wars/Trek in specific , the MCU etc - and the Writers / Actors responsible for doing so have been on strike for more money for doing it for the last 6 months.
Carol Danvers was not coded differently in the MCU.
1: Coded is a stupid word and I hate it.
2: She was in love with actual Captain Marvel.
How is it possible there are no reviews yet ? It’s already been screening for 3 days in Asia …
A reboot could work, centre the thing around the FF, X-Men, Hulk, Iron Man, Spidey, and The Avengers and don't get sidetracked by adapting modern garbage from the comics that was already walked back years ago now and do it slow and steady, if a TV show needs to exist then maybe look at something like Marvel Comics Presents: a title that wasn't reliant on continuinuity and was free to explore more unused characters without having to dedicate an entire title soley to them.
And 20 years is fuck all time for a genre to be around in film, horror is over 100 years old now and the genre still exists, you just need to lose the idea that Holywood matters in the slightest to filmmaking and look to international filmamakers generally to get to the good stuff. Holywood isn't interested in making good films, it's just some grand money laundering scheme that needs to fuck right off.
Except there is already rumors that they are thinking of messing yet again with the FF, I'd be VERY surprised if the X-men isn't going to be stacked to the BRIM with real-world politics (remember that Dark Phoenix quote about the women being the only ones that pulls their weight on the team), I'm TERRIFIED what they are going to do with Spidey and we all know what they are trying to do with the Avengers. There's simply no reason to think things will get better, because the studio STILL hasn't budged from its original position yet.
@@sigmacademy The Fantastic Four will never work in live-action. It's cursed.
And funnily enough I'm not even sure _why_ . The premise sounds simple enough. I guess Dr. Doom being an evil dictator will always be too silly for studios to make an authentic adaptation.
I expect the movie to do badly but there's something painfully telling about people WISHING it'll be bad just so they can say how right they've been all along. These guys pretend to be critics but they've already made up their minds about a movie they've never seen just so they can dunk on it for views
How to save the theaters? Easy, reissue old films people actually want to watch on a big screen. There is almost 100 years of movies in Hollywood's back catalog. Just pick the best ones, restore them if necessary and re-release them.
Marvel/DC comic book enthusiasm endured for decades until this last decade. What's written now is pure crap, just like the superhero movies. It doesn't take a genius to figure out why.
another day, another podcast of grown men discussing the state of Disney
They own everything, it’s unavoidable.
I'm just going to say it: I think Aquaman 2 looks awesome, and barring all *outside factors* might be a better movie than the first. The first one had everything thrown into it because "hey, we're never going to get another Aquaman movie so let's make this one rule". And then they got a chance to do this one, which is ALL about ONE thing: Black Manta's revenge. They should have called it "Black Manta's Revenge." Black Manta in the comic books murdered Aquaman's baby! The trailer looks amazing.
But, but, Amber Heard! But, but, the DCEU is over! But, but, this isn't going to spin off into anything! Does anyone remember that at one time we never asked for anything but a good time at the movies? We didn't expect superhero films to lead to other films, we just wanted to spend two hours having fun? I don't think Amber Heard can ruin it unless you let her ruin it for you; they've cut her out of it as much as they dare, it sounds like. So I'm actually excited for this movie. And you can "Black Adam Blue Beetle" all you want, this is a movie with a good star, good villain and a good director. So I'm very happy that Marvels is going to be so bad that Aquaman 2 will look Oscar-worthy by comparison.
Kevin really kicked his feet up after Endgame and decided to autopilot his way through to the next paycheck
I highly recommend everyone fire up End Game and go to the scene where Cap is in therapy over the sudden loss of everyone. The writer(s) were/was letting you know while you may want to see this creative endeavor of compelling works that are crafted with care, may lead (Hawkeye as Ronin and so on) you're about to get the same weak sauce heavily marketed blockbuster formulaic trash that we're about to serve up within this film. It was subtle jab at the Status quo wanting to keep things "the same" to keep the bankroll coming in versus allowing these stories to go organically where they were headed after Infinity War.
The best entertainment is coming from overseas right now. The shit show in Hollywood is simply enhancing those overseas offerings. That is where the cinema chains need to look.
FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDY'S will gross more than THE MARVELS, on a fraction of the budget.
Of course, give it 10 years or so, and we'll be tired of the mediocre video game movies being churned out and superhero films may become popular again. That's Hollywood.
1) A hated actress and main protagonist.
2) 3 characters nobody knows (Kamala, Monica, & the villain).
3) An enormous budget (nearly $300 Mil.)
4) Delayed 5xs in 3 years.
5) No enthusiasm whatsoever.
Clearly the perfect recipe for a successful upcoming Blockbuster film.
I wouldn't even mind seeing it, I asked my daughters to see it with me when it came out and they are just plain uninterested in it. What a shame...
The best I can come up with is apathy towards superhero movies. They were fun way back when SUPERMAN came out in 1978, but, now, with the woke agenda, and damage to the DCU and Marvel franchises...
There were no other superhero movies during Christopher Reeve's time.
@@theunknowncommenter725I meant from SUPERMAN being the first, opening the gate,on to BATMAN,and so on.
Imagine the mess they'll make of The XMen , doesn't bear thinking about
The Headliner for this movie is the biggest Mary Sue ever created, One of the most unlikable Actresses in recent memory, and the plot commits character suicide by making it a running gag with a bad plot and writing. It's pretty much an easy pass. It would be harder to write up a list of reasons TO see this movie.
Marvels will be such a tough watch for men who hate women.
