Woodturning - A Spalted Oak Bowl With Extreme Grain Lines

- Another beautiful bowl turned from a log destined for the landfill.
I’ve been woodturning for many years now with continued amazement by what Mother Nature has to offer.
This has to be one of my favorite bowls because the hard oak allowed me to thin out the walls making it more sturdy. I was also noticing glossy wood before oil was even added (another perk to using hardwoods)
I hope you enjoy the video as much as I enjoy the process!

Great bowl Preston, like that spalting and the way your shaping shows much of the grain too.
Keep on turning.
Cheers, Bluey 👍
Thank you! This is one of my favorites so far
👍✨
Torneando de maneira diferente muito interessante
Honestly, this was before I got a new set of lathe tools. The new tools have really made the process easier. Thank you!
What finish are you putting on?
It’s a bees wax/orange oil mixture.
It pains me to see you hammer that drive spur with a steel hammer!
I’ll grab my wood mallet next time ;)
@@PrestonsProjects I'm feeling better already!
