My favorite cereal fashioned into my favorite childhood bowl with a matching spoon! Who would have thought?
I recently did a similar project with coffee beans (link below) and really enjoyed the process as well as the end product. I came across a comment posted on that video by Sea Iris suggesting I do something similar with Froot Loops. So here's my shot at it!
I finished the bowl, spoon and straw with a food grade epoxy. This keeps me safe from any chemicals in the filler epoxy and it also seals the cereal so it doesn't absorb any liquid while I use it.
The Coffee Bean Project is here: • Woodturning Coffee BEA...
If you decide to do this project be aware that the forstner bits heat up the project to the point where the cereal started burning. That's why I took to the sandpaper so early on - to avoid the heat! (although it definitely still got hot, just not too hot)
Also, if your cereal floats! Pour a second layer of epoxy over the top after the first pour sets. You can also use this opportunity to include a jaw chuck attachment point- something the lathe can grab onto while you turn.

Ok, that built in straw is just genius! Another top notch project.
Thanks Ryan!!
@@PrestonsProjects Have you never had those plastic cereal bowls with a built-in straw?! 😂 I thought everyone had those
Topa le
I thought this came out quite beautiful, though the beginning of the turn woulda made my shop teacher sht a brick, lol!
The somewhat floral effect is actually surprisingly lovely.
I only wonder if a static straw may be a bit of a liability, requiring specialized brushes internally and along the mounted edge?
Not to diss the work, only... - as a kid, I had given to me an antique silver spoon w/a long, thin handle that doubled as a straw. The difficulty in full cleaning eventually gave up unpleasant gifts.
Of course, some woods like cedar, for e.g., are naturally antibacterial, so...?
Just have to figure out how to clean it
There’s something so magical and also therapeutic happening here
Glad you're enjoying it:)
You been eating too much fruit loops,😵👎💀😝
Yes, especially since he smashes nearly every "Never, EVER!!" rule that my H.S. shop teacher would get buggy-eyed over, and yet rolls on unscathed, to turn bike helmets from candy floss or some other artifact of the flow.
This is EXACTLY what I had in mind after seeing the "coffee mug" video! Great work!
Thanks Adam! Any ideas pop into your mind after watching this video? (This video was suggested by one of my viewers)
@@PrestonsProjects actually, yes. Have you considered selling the cereal bowls? Even without the spoon and straw, I think they would be a fun gift item!
👏👏💯
A kid's dream bowl, and a unique bowl in general! It's colorful and creative!
Whittling with a sawzall and an angle grinder! Love it.
Beautiful,, and the white resin gives it the appearance of milk with the cereal within the bowl the spoon is a great idea with it,, and I have to say that I love the park seat draining board that's so cool. I'm sure that you made that too.!!!
Something about this video makes me very happy.
I don’t know how this channel isnt viral yet, I just found it and have sat here watching them all day! So satisfying!
Haha thanks!! I’m glad you’re enjoying it :)
I’ve worked on cereal commercials and I swear to god the moment you started spinning that hunk of cereal infused epoxy, I could smell it.
The out there experimental projects such as this and the coffee bean mug look like tons of fun to make
Give it a go!
Love these vids, thanks for not putting super loud music over the build lmao
I’m glad you’re enjoying them! Yeah, the sound of the tools is music to my ears!
When they spoke of him it was with great reverence and awe! He was known as the Wizard and his strange machine… 🤯🙏☘️
😂😂
I totally get this mans humor and i love it👌🏻
Haha I appreciate it!
I literally dream of doing stuff like this one day 🤩
Such an Underrated channel
People are slowly finding out about it! I appreciate it :)
Almost 10k subs! Glad I could be one of them. Love watching your videos.
Thanks Laura :) I’m glad you’re enjoying them!!
The spoon put me over the edge! FANTASTIC!!!
Haha thanks Kathy. Glad you enjoyed it :)
Wow those are crazy beautiful pieces!
Very relaxing to watch..love the craftsmanship
I love it! So creative and fun🖤
Thank you :)
Really cool! Love the spoon, Bowl set!
Thank you! I was very pleased with it.
That was something else, I wasn't expecting it to turn out as well as it did because the resin can't fully penetrate the fruit loops.
Always wanted to see someone make a steampunk lamp with a unique lampshade made from clear epoxy with matchbox cars, trains, boats and planes in it.
Never seen one before but I think it would look amazing and something any car nut would love in a man cave or garage.
Cool video.
Mesmerizing!
Nice work my friend, I look forward to more of your neat work!
Thanks Jake! I’m glad you enjoyed it :)
Very cool creation. I’ll buy it!
Random Internet person Ideas. Coffee (or drink container) that reflects that persons career. I.T.= a bundle of network patch cables. Accountant= a stack of fake $1000 bills. Fireman= khaki cloth fire hose and perhaps a curved badge pressed in afterwards. Truck Driver = rubber tire showing the steel belted layers. I like the juxta position of a Non-food related Item being used as a food container item. Love the work regardless!! Cheers
Good Job Looks great👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Love it!!!
Hey Dave! Thanks man ;)
That was so cool bro😉
Love it
Thanks Julie :)
Nice work
Thank you :)
I want one 😍
1:00 I like this part :)
Chemicals. Yummy.
Way cool
Thanks Tim!!
Keep doing it man, you'll get another millionaire vídeo soon
Haha they’re gonna start comin at ya quick! I’ve got a few good ideas lined up. Thanks for the encouraging words!
Just found your channel and love all the videos. I saw you looking for some ideas to make. Perhaps you could make a bottle, an epoxy and wood mix. The walls as epoxy with some colors mixed throughout (like the lamp you did) and the neck area and bottom as wood glued on. But of course you're allowed to do your spin on it all if you even chose to make this. Great work and have a wonderful day!
Not a bad idea!! I’ve got a project coming soon that’s very similar to that explanation.
I appreciate it :)
Super też chcę taką
👌👍😁
Doesn’t the food within the resin eventually rot? I’ve seen someone put a hamburger in resin and it was rotting still.
Still a cool idea though!
I guess as long as it doesn’t come in contact with the food or drink you’re consuming it should be good!
@@PrestonsProjects huh.. Cool :)
Dyyffh in
Really cool..👌🏾
But I prefer that the cup be transparent...!
The same for coffe mug, in the other video👍🏾
Is it possible? no?
Keep it up!
It's definitely possible! I've done it before but for some reason the white epoxy speaks to me!
Thanks Jonahtan :)
@@PrestonsProjects hehe that's ok, I'll hope it then!
You should try something with Coca Cola. Perhaps with Lucky Charms.
👏
I like the bowl but I don't like material waste. But that's just me. Keep making great content 😊
Better planning on my part would help. Thanks Daniel!!
Always one complainer......😂😂😂😂😂
Do you sell any of your projects or have a website or anything?
👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you!
Now I want to go eat FruitLoops! In that bowl!!
Dude i want that too!!!!! Where can i get IT?
An you smell any of the food while your spining it?
this is the first time that i have seen a bowl with a straw attached to it, and im upset that i haven't seen it before.
Imagine drink a coffee in a Coffee Mug while eat cereal in a Cereal Bowl...
Imagine eating a steak while wearing a leather jacket. Imagine chewing leaves.
New sub here ... Thank you for the awesome content! Do you sell your finished idea??
Hey thanks! I’m glad you’re enjoying my projects.
I’m working on getting this item listed for sale on my Etsy shop. If I remember I’ll make sure to post it here for you
How good did this smell..?
Lol oops i left my blunt in my cereal bowl again
Imagine being drunk and trying to scoop out the rest of the fruit loops
do you sell your products?
Oh ramen into a bow and rice chopstick
I didn’t think you were actually gonna eat out of it
Food grade epoxy. Why not!?
Make a bowl using fruity pebbles cereal
Good idea Keith!
Cocoa pebbles with chocolate milk lol
You ever sell your work?
I’m working on an online shop now. I’ll make sure to post it on my channel once it’s launched!
Where can I buy this?
I’m working on getting it listed to my Etsy shop!! Stay tuned
JuSt FoLlOw YoUr NoSe!!
Wow..... I love your work... Could you build something for me please
For the right price ;)
@@PrestonsProjects how much would you charge me
@@jvillanueva095 what are you looking to get made?
Wouldn't clear epoxy look better?
Ok… so a cereal bowl out of cereal and a coffee cup out of coffee… what about a waffle plate out of waffles or breakfast plate out of eggs and bacon!!!
I have doubts how much object made with resins and synthetic chemicals are good to eat from.
Cured epoxy is very stable. And especially with the added layer of protection with the food grade epoxy!
@@PrestonsProjects tks for info but it is discouraged to even eat in plastic bowls. I feel epoxies would be similar in nature.
Shoulda made it see threw
Ok my friend how about turning something from Lego?
I dont think that the epoxy dust is good for environment but cool video 😁
Eating from that bowl immediately just does not seem like a good idea with all those newly applied chemicals I would give that a few weeks to thoroughly dry first.
All of that glue and wax...you cannot immediately eat from that bowl!
I can only hope that bits of those toxic epoxy shavings are not ending up the water!!! You're extremely fortunate to occupy and appreciate the land and it must be lovely to work in the open air but that just seems like an unavoidable environmental issue. Sorry to say but seems like no one thinks about these things...
I thought the same exact thing as soon as I saw how close to the water he is
How many lbs of non biodegradable art are you producing? Seriously, how long is this going to last on someone’s shelf and then how long is this thing going to last on earth?
They call it WOODTURNING for a good reason knock off the resin B S 😝😵👎💀
tell me a better way to do it then loser
Nothin wrong with a little resin!
