  • Last Fall While splitting firewood I split in to a few spalted maple logs and put them aside to save for later because I knew I didn't want to burn them. Spalted maple is one of my favorite kind of wood to work with. In this video I make some coasters out of one of the pieces. Let me know if you enjoyed the video! Thanks for watching.

    Simple project, but so much detail to do it right. Nice touch with the packaging. And great focus quality on the vid...makes it so much better to watch

    Watching this reminded me of my father. He was a cabinet maker, and in retirement used to make all sorts of things like this. Great video Brady. Thanks.

    Looks like a simple project. But the first challenge is to obtain/recognize a good piece of wood WRT beauty, right?

    very nicely done and I like how you use your vise as a work stand, is that wood a hardwood ?

    • @BradyHommel
      @BradyHommel  Před rokem

      Yes it is maple. Spalted maple just meant that the wood has started to decay. It's actually fungus in the wood but it is beautiful

    Hey, I want to make a few of these this weekend! What thickness did you cut them to and have they held up?

    • @BradyHommel
      @BradyHommel  Před 2 lety +2

      Quarter inch I made them. Which is pretty standard. That have held up great! Just make sure you seal them up good with tung oil

    Great show without the music and the yammering. Got a subscribe out of me!

  • @tomtomsproductreviews9145

    Nice, but after all that work it's a $400 coaster. I can just buy new end tables when they get wet instead.
