    The 0,1,2,3 setting is for reciprocating action. 0 is no reciprocation, the blade is moving just up and down and it’s best for cutting metal.
    1,2,3 is for aggressive wood cutting

    GREAT JOB GUYS !!! You make it look so easy but for me I would overthink the install especially the cut HA HA HA. Vid is User Friendly Step By Step with Tips for Dummies Like Me.

      Glad you liked it! I don't believe it's called over thinking. I believe it's measuring many times and cutting once. A hole that is too big is quite a bummer! Better get it right the first time. Check out my other vids for more how to's. There will be more coming but I've been swamped converting vans and I can't video everything. There is also great content on our website at levityvans.com. Adventure awaits!

      @@LevityVans Found a better way use 1qt rubbermaid to pout the remainder in, as opposed to solidifying for lack of can seal.

    Hi! First, thank you so much! You make this seem possible to do myself. One question though - Have you ever used or would you consider using an electric metal cutter shear? It seems like it would be easier to use than the jigsaw with less metal shavings flying loose. In the tool description, it states that it will cut through up to 18 gauge sheet metal but I have no idea how thick the Promaster walls are.

      Hi Wendi. Thanks for the comment and I'm glad the video helped you. I've considered these many times but in most of the windows I install, I'm at the edge of the door bead and not as much in the center of the door. So, it makes it much harder to round the corners. I also question how well and accurate the electric shears would do around a corner. I've used manual shears to clean up edges and that's pretty effortless but even those are hard or impossible in corners. I've also used a nibbler which makes less mess but some only go in a straight line and the ones that don't are harder to control. Lastly, I think most vans are in range of what an electric shear can cut but depending on where you are installing a window, you may need to first cut out any structural supports behind the window that would be too thick for the shears. I hope that helps 🙂

    Thanks for the video. I'm doing exact same install on my PM slider now. Q regarding your install. If I'm interpreting your install right, your top cut was just inside the support frame of the interior van wall. This would seem to put the trim ring across both a double and single width of sheet metal. Did the window seal okay that way? Curious as I'd like to install my window as high as possible too. Thanks!

    • @LevityVans
      @LevityVans  Před 4 lety +1

      Thanks for the question. The purpose of the inside ring is only to pull the window tight to the outside surface. It doesn't have anything to do with the actual seal. Because of that, as long as the trim ring is pulling the window in, you should have a great seal.

    Hi there :) since the door “rib” on the inside is thinner then the rest of the structural ribs of the van, did you cut through them with the jigsaw with no problem? I’m putting mine on the door as well, and noticed that usually people have to use an angle grinder to cut the ribs.

    • @LevityVans
      @LevityVans  Před 3 lety

      If you are talking about the thin vertical piece in the middle of where the window gets installed, yes you can cut it out with a jig saw with no problem. If you are putting in one of these windows that doesn't fill the whole space, it is sometimes nice to use an angle grinder to cut that whole rib out but that is more for aesthetics then anything. I hope that made sense.

    Any idea of why the window is bowed like that? The panel on the door is straight isn’t it?

    • @LevityVans
      @LevityVans  Před 5 lety +2

      Thanks for the question Josh. The door has a slight curve to it. The CRL windows that I've installed on this model van match the curvature of the panel. These motion windows have to bend so the don't stick out on the top and bottom. In my opinion, the don't need to bend as much as they do as the curvature is very minimal.
