    Excellent tear down video of the Kia Soul 2.0 engine. This was one of the best and clearest videos I have seen. Thank you for sharing this. Great job!!!

    This emgine must be different than the 2.0 engine i have in my 2017 Elantra. Its been excellent, over 100.000 miles now, still sounds healthy, uses no oil. I bought it new. In fact the entire car has had 0 repairs and 0 issues.

    If this had Port and GDI injection and better quality Piston rings
    it whould make a huge difference
    and spot on better quality control
    on engine/ Tranny's. Thanks for
    quality control video😊

    There is a current lawsuit that is active in California, my car started having Issues and the engine is eating way more oil than is considered normal wear and tear for an engine that is 110,000 miles. I got my oil changed one day then was out the next day

      Hopefully they will make improvements needed , Hyundai and Kia seem to be having issues accross many models. Thanks for sharing.

    Hey i have been looking for a good video that goes over the Transaxle filter change on these 2.0l nu gdi engines on the hyundai/kia products. By any chance could you point me in the right direction?

    Wow! That Kia looked really, really cheap especially inside the engine block. Good job! But really replace the engine? Nope replace the car - with a different brand.

    What a great video explains a lot. I just bought a used Kia soul. They had to replace engine. It still qualified for that.

    Thanks so much for that for real you help me to understand what wrong with my Elantra GT 2016 GDI i have the same engine and the same noise also a DTC P1326 knock sensor that means I have a problem with inside mechanical parts…
    Just a question sir, did you get a new wear bearing or you gonna change all of crankshaft??
    Thanks for all

      I did not fix it , but I had thought about putting a new crank and bearings. Thank you for the feedback.

    Just found your video and about to start watching it 😎🏁
    I have a 2015 almost identical car to the one you’re working on with the same engine
    My engine does not make any crazy noises at all, but does consume a lot of oil, almost every 600 miles
    The issue that I just found with it the other day is that while the engine was running, I took off the oil fill cap for some reason and noticed a lot of pressure coming out the valve cover
    So I took out the dipstick was running, and there’s air pushing out of the dipstick tube
    I did replace the PCV valve, but that didn’t seem to help
    Hoping not to have to completely rebuild the engine, but it’s sounding like from rings gone bad , right?
    The car runs well up to 3000 to 4000 RPM, but has no acceleration past that ..
    It also doesn’t have any smoke coming out of the tailpipe
    Sorry for the long message, just wondering if you’ve used or know anybody who used successfully any oil additives to help with the compression problem I’m having, thanks I look forward to watching your video, I love this car, it has 130k / no oil leaks at all either. It would definitely be worth it to me to do exactly what you’re doing if I could

      These engines seem to have a lot of blow by . I have seen them with 50k like that. I think it is a lot of just how they are built. Thank you for the feedback.

    what about 2018 model with 1.6l , , got it for my wife to learn driving but she likes it and will keep the car as long I can fix it, 109k miles , so far engine running good

      @s33therfan  Před 4 měsíci +1

      The 1.6l seem to have far less issues and they get great mpg. Thanks for the feedback.

    Lol interesting my girls 2012 optima just locked up while driving royal purple oil changes every 6 months wasn't enough to save it getting camshaft timing error and it doesn't crank I did do the recall at Kia oil ws empty all burnt out it has no leak turned all that good oil to gunk makes it look like I never changed the oil I hope kia recall warranty covers it🤞 did you take it in for software update and recall check?

    • @s33therfan
      @s33therfan  Před 9 měsíci +1

      Their software update is a bandaid in my opinion . I only know some are affected and others not , but there seems to be quite a few. Like you said ,makes no difference on oil changes. It seems to be a quality control issue on particular years. Hope all goes well , thanks for the feedback.

      @@s33therfan oh no prob dude thanks for the reply was thinking I had to buy and drop a new one in a remembered the gdi shit show Kia had Made an appointment to take it in to Kia. I really hope I don't have pay for the tow to and from to find out they're not covering the engine failure if they say I didn't do oil hanged or some b.s which I did religiously with Mobil one and royal purple full synthetic 70k miles shouldn't burn oil period lol

    I have the same car with the same engine and with the same noise. Probably I have the similar problem. What you suggests to do? Because a used engine is very expensive for me. Could I fix it just to put new parts?

    • @s33therfan
      @s33therfan  Před 11 měsíci +1

      I had considered buying a new crank shaft and new rod and crank bearings and putting it back together. What prevented me from trying this was , I did not know how long it had been driven by previous ownership. My suggestion would be replacing those parts , and not running the engine until then. Thank you very much for the feedback.

      I have a 2014 Soul and I just pulled the oil pan today. Same exact issue on piston number 3. Mine is not nearly this bad and the knock sensor system actually engaged limp mode. My crank has no damage or scoring in that position. The rod bearing has minor scoring. The knock detection system definitely saved this motor. I would suggest pulling the oil pan to see instead of pulling the whole motor out. It will be the second piston away from the transmission. Remember, if you pull all of the rod caps to check the bearings you have to replace the rod bolts for the ones you pull off.

      What did you end up doing on your car. My car did the same thing several days ago. To get a used motor, adding labor. The cost is $8300.

    KIA will replace that engine free of charge. Search for class action law suit. You don't need to be the original owner, you only need to have had the recall for the knock detection system done before the engine grenaded.

    I have a 2014 Kia Soul and the engine seized at 93, 000 miles. The Kia service center is repairing it because of the lawsuit. I'm in Idaho.

      Thats great , it should be as good as new. I would be curious to know what percentage of these engines fail. Some seem to last over 200k and still going and others fail before 80k. Thanks for the feedback.
