- My mate Hugh bought a pair of super cheap 1060s from eBay. Here's what we got.

Thanks to music bros down below!

there are 2 memory chips * 256MB + 4 * 128 MB. Total 1 GB VRAM. This was an original GeForce GTX 550 Ti 1GB VRAM with a flashed BIOS. No Frankenstein. Just a lie.
1060's do not have VGA, its very easy to spot
Pascal Gpu Series dont support VGA output
alot of people are too stupid to realize
Timothy Iorlano my hd4350 has hdmi
@Timothy Iorlano wasn't that card dvi only?
There is a 5gb gtx 1060 in China only it’s exclusive to them I believe
Linus didnt bought these 50$ Crapcards, he bought some for around 300$ and these were real 1060s....
yes and not on ebay , he bought them on aliexpres
20:42 Nice little mention to the Big Man Himself. Long live Big Clive.
It sounds like you weren't a FAN of the cooling on those cards ...
I love how broken a lot of the hand soldered parts are
That reflection at 13:54 at top left edge - is the chip chipped? maybe these chips were non-approved lot?
Ah, looks like it's one of those dreaded "Thermi" cores. Pair it with a P4 Netburst and you have yourself the perfect room heater.
so your friend offscreen went to the "Brian Blessed" school of acting.
i was waiting for him to say " well actuallyyyyyyyy"
The 1060 doesn't support SLI... so the sli Connectors made clear that it should be an older graphic card... and the faint scratch marks are from someone scrapping the manufacturing codes like in 1060 "GP 106 A1" which are printed not engraved onto the chip.
Very intresting video, thanks :)
Can you flash original bios (GF116)?
Very interesting. Would be very happy if you could do others video like this.
That folding at home software, nice
weird. The T0c are 2gb, the GQ2 in the number means 2 gb. The T2c have HQ1 which are 1gb but that doesn't add up unless you don't count the ones on the back. It could be that some are dead and the soldered them on just to fill the spots.
You sound exactly like the dark destroyer on the chase haha.
His clock in the bottom right threw me off LOL Bloody Hell , my TIME is wrong.
Do u have cd driver where i can get it thanks
the scuff marks are there because they removed the old die markings and put on new ones
Have you seen some videos from Philscomputerlab? He does a few on these chinese BIOS modded cards and even fixes the BIOS so the card is proper.
Lucky I bought mine off KIJIJI MONTREAL
ASUS GTX 1060 3G and it's awesome so happy.. 224 Frames in most games.. 1366x768 ULTRA
Over 129 Frames at 1080P I am blowen away by this cards performance just love it.
I am looking forward to buying the RTX 3080 Ti 24G Hyper-drive Special Super OC in the Future..
I bought 2x GTX 980ti's before the 1080ti was a thing and I just couldn't wait any longer. It turned out that one of them was faulty and replaced within a few weeks.
So... What`s your point???
I recently got a antec neo eco gold 700w to run my 2070 super oc do you happened to know of this is a good psu? I noticed you have a antec. I also am wondering of I should plug the second cpu cable in as a four pin on my x570 after using the 8 pin on the other of course?
That PSU is very nice, and yes you should plug in the 4 pin as well.
@@imamalox right on I guess I have some more cable management to do I actually went with the icue 220t you reviewed it's a tight fit with a non modular psu but did the trick well. How did that gamermax pay work out for you? Did you ever get your refund?
It's a GTS 450 rev2. You can search PKK167 and first result will told you. The scratch on the chip is where the chip name(GF116-200-KA-A1) use to be.
They can's really change MTU/RPOS from the BIOS. (If they can, they will just put in 1060 spec). GPU-Z either unable to read the info correctly, or the chip is a cut down version of the GF116-200-KA-A1 with 4 ROPS turned off.
Try flash it with GTS450v2 bios see if it will work with office drivers. That could be a good video.
I'm Canadian, but I live in the US. When I hear someone say Z (Zed) it's like I'm home! Plus Zed was used well before Z (zee) in history anyway!
Clayton Olson oh I agree, I can’t stand when they call Lord Zedd Lord Z... Crying shame
@@vinnyavalanche
Kneel before Zed!
Then they ruin it by using a numbering system that Unix/Asia doesn't use.
@@strangelee4400 That's Zod
You didn't say 'eh' 😄
You guys should have flashed a new bios to get it to what it was "born" as. 😋
The reason the scuff marks are there is because the scammers sand down the die number so people cant figure out what the card actually is
can you repair a r9 390 that goes black scree when i try to watch your videos? still has sound. can it be a 500 watt psu is to smaoll
the 391.24 driver is for the 400 series graphics cards
391.24 was a 2018 driver. 10XX series could use it but I can't recall which game they released it for.
Cyber cafes LOL I remember late 90s going to a coffee shop to pop money into a machine to see the "internet" LOL
this is the driver for my gtx 470 card the nvidia website selected for me for win 7/64, but when I was using win 10/64 it used a 386.?? driver.
I just bought 2 of these, Newley released yesterday. It stated it was a 1060 6gb. Due to issues with God’s these days I figured I’d give it a shot. Hope I have better results cause they were almost $200 each. I only bought to test for mining so if they work and last 6 months I would be happy. Guess we’ll have to wait and see.
Interesting an advert for I wish before video
when i am looking at 9 or 10 series cards from NV, if i see VGA port thats a major red flag, im not aware of any of those series' that had VGA ports
12:45 it's sanded. I tried it my self on 6200 TC by using sandpaper.
Each one of those chips is a 1 gigabit (i.e., 1/8th of a gigabyte). So the card actually has 1 gigabyte GDDR5 VRAM. What's worse is that, because windows thinks the card has more than 1gb, it will try to write past 1gb and, when that doesn't work, the 3D app you have running will crash.
The "big warning signal" was the VGA port ..............and the fact it was unbranded...............and the price.............and the fact it was from China
Using qc failed memory has a long history in computers. Both commodore and sinclair did that.
did you get it to run anything ?
I wouldn't even risk plugging that piece of trash in my rig
I really recommend a book by Paul Midler called 'Poorly Made in China'. A very entertaining read about the amazing subterfuges the Chinese will adopt to make a swift yuan or twenty. Or twenty thousand. Happy days.
Maybe those cards were originally used for crypto-mining? I remembered that ethereum mining needs >4GB of VRAM
Asia has literally mountains of e-waste. Old PC's in junk yards. Scavenged Graphics cards pulled out, RAM, MOBO'S, CPUS, etc. All sit in bins in the rain until repurposed or melted down for precious metal content. Labour is cheap & the parts cost almost nothing if you know the right people. Westerners paying good money for these fake franken cards are making them rich.
The driver problem is simpler than that, its because the newer drivers do not support that chip as its now in the legacy driver.
so 12x 1Gbit ram chips, which is 1.5GBytes, how did you miss that? its a GTX550ti 1.5GB version, and will work like one when you put on a bios suitable for the card, on 'techpowerup' website, look for one for GTX550ti for Point Of View (legitimate graphics card manufacturer/bios creator, i cant remember which), and you can get your money back from those cards too, i did when i got a 1060 3GB (of course fake) from Wish and kept the card.
The dead giveaway those cards are fake is the fact they VGA outputs on the card. As another person said - 10xx series cards do not have vga connectors.
i have one what should i do with it
Shout out to Michael McIntyre for helping Graham with this video:)
Thank you guys! You saved me from buying this scam!
It isn't a scam... kinda.
5 gb 1060s
*DO*
exist, these just aren't official cards.
The 5 gig 60s are meant to be exclusively sold to gaming cafes, primarily in china.
It is a weird card that actually performs quite well
@@lord_scrubington hi bro i have already buy it and it"s coming now to my country that it really so bad how much fps can i get in gta 5 plz told me that i buy the wrong one because i have buy it by 325 USD plz answer
@@OCHROUKI If you bought the 5gig 1060, it should do fine in GTA5. You paid a lot for it so it should be good
its about what thay get there hands on they go to a vender and ask what you have and if it atal runs then thay get it at 1000 peaces
why dont u benchmark it to compare it to othe cards?
its a hacked bios that gives gpuz its values the device id outo fills a lot of gpuz data messed with this trying to mod a 3gb 1060 to a 6gb found pcb jumper configs changes memory size it detects but device id locks drivers so thay dont use all 6gb ram chips installed but card still works but has a 3gb bottle neck due to drivers
A 550ti?
Always said, sounds too good to be true, probably is
F that where's my cheap chinese ford king ranch? Arhhgg!
Wonder what Linux would think of this card.
U way behind when you say that
@@jammyzheng131
Nobody cares.
Linux and Nvidia aren't great pals to begin with.
They’d make more money by selling them for cheaper and selling them in an actual working condition. Also, be careful, some of these have been made to fry anything they’re plugged into 😬
the card doesnt actually have 5GB, i think the mem chips are 256 or 128mb
I wonder what's the next rebranded fake card when the Chinese run out of those GTS 450/GTX 550 Ti cards. :D
I’m banking on 750ti’s or 1050’s. Just imagine rebranding those cards as RTX cards 5 years from now.
650ti/660ti started to be made
GTX 650s
got to b extra carefull on these... some are shot up cards with 12v pin shorted to make the fan spins... might kill mobo.....
if you check the chip you will probably find a gts 450 chip re-purposed
you're going to toast this gpu running Furmark on it
I dont see any heat pipes..
Linus bought a China MAXSUN GTX1060. Its China but its a branded card.
I did find it very interesting to see how far the Chinese will go to sell things.
Who did you buy this from
One of Bruce Lee’s mates.
They wanted super cheap 1060s for the domestic market so they went from 6GB to 5GB, i am sure that made the card alot cheaper.. why not just go with the 3GB ones? XD
gtx1060 3g 5g 6g not support sli
Saw this on another channel, turned out to be a GTX 750
i need the drivers please!!
I HAVE BOUGHT THOSE FROM TAOBAO AND WORKS WITH MODIFIED DRIVES
Next month i want to buy this version, do u have any advise? Is it has warranty?
me to, but my cd-rom dont read the driver cd. anyone know a website where i can download it?
They used Cootie-cores instead.
I looks like a 550 ti Frankenstein
yes these cards are real, the 5GB model is for China ONLY and yes they DO have VGA ports but are generally not active although there IS room to put the chips needed to output a VGA signal. you can also get a gpu meant only for crypto mining, and solder on a HDMI port and reflash the BIOS and have a cheap card for gaming, or just tunnel it through the iGPU.
Memory and general storage specs are among the easiest things to fake on bogus hardware.
I'd make a guess that there ISN'T 5GB on that card, lol. It likely has about 1GB total and it's definitely cobbled from chips that failed QC. 100%.
Nothing on those cards is "stock" or default. Not a thing. Not the board, caps, chips or connectors.
Lets hope this approach doesn't overflow to A-quality stuff. Then nothing works...
I know eBay is selling fake 1050ti and 750ti and I seen some suspicious looking cards on Newegg and other sites. The give away is the cards with gaps in the PiCe contacts.
My mother had bought me this card like 3 years ago and it never worked and she payed a lot of money for it,just to be scammed😭
Heck in china you have to watch out for counterfeit beer, so gfx cards no problem!
and counterfeit rice...
Lol, that's frickin amazing
1060s don't have SLI fingers
After seeing tons of videos saying the same thing about these cards.....why hasn't any bios modder made a specific bios for all these fake cards? Like couldn't you just correct all the errors and give it the proper ram for the gpu chip?
Interesting why not build a good one instead of Fake? I wonder why, thanks for the Video
So Caradog's real name is Hugh, eh? lol
What about the 6gb version
i'm using emtek gtx 1060 which is also a chinese/asian market product and its authentic
@@foreverzero1 emtek is Korean market brand, legit. I owned emtek 6200 TurboCache
chip gf116 is GTX 550ti 1gb, Why is there a 1000W power supply in this computer? it is a waste of customer money. Power supply for cheap cards up to 500W.
Linus had a different card but you made youre point China stuff is rubbish but sometimes you find an actually good product. The point is you're don't know when that is going to be it's just a gamble....
VGA = < 9 series
Niceee
The GTS450 is a well known GPU that these chinese manufacturers like to use because they support GDDR5 and can be forced to run DX12. But, 192 cuda cores aren't going to run any new AAA games.
All 10 series Pascal GPU's are fabbed at TSMC using a 16nm die. Well all except the GTX 1050/ti which are actually fabbed at Samsung using a 14nm die. I have a ASUS dual GTX 1050ti without any 6 or 8pin power connector's. Regardless this GPU can still run at a solid 2GHz flat out amd quiet as can be. With nVIDIA's game ready drivers games like Metro Exodus at 60fps high settings just using a 3770K at 4.5GHz. Not to shabby for a entry level Pascal GPU.
I have a ZALMAN CNPS 9900MAX cooling a 5GHz 8700K... I ordered a few other models like the 9900MAX DF (dual fan) version to see what they could do with some if intel's newer sku's.
Interesting...
Should of tested it in Linux and see what Linux has to say about it
they are just old gtx cards with hacked bios, no 1060's or modern gpu's have a vga out plus really crappy build quality
Sketchy , great American slang.
I bought a 1080 ti off wish and it was a fake and turned out to be a p116 gpu chip rebranded
it is weird, nobody is going to downgrade to win 7/8 so they might as well have saved themselves a ton of effort and just posted you a couple of bricks
9:05 BEAVIS AND BUTTHEAD!
Haha now this is so hilarious lmao
Old gpu are cheaper. More like a junk it and that's were they get this parts they use and repurpose
Why are you talking to your wall? and why is it talking back?
Joking aside !i bought over 40 items from AliExpress and a lot of them were expensive and I've never been ripped off.
I felt exactly the same when I saw a huge market of fake watches like Rolex, Omega, FranchMuller.
It was 2000 to 2005, I visited Sinzen area.Approx 20dollers a piece and you can't tell it's fake by the looks of it. They made all effort to duplicate fine details. But they all runs several minutes faster or slower every day! After all those great effort to make it simillar, why would'nt they just throw in cheapest Japanese movement that does'nt cost much?
Only the reason I could think of was that they have pride in making FAKE.
If it works proprly and looks right it aint fake any more... hahaha
I really want to know the truth, even now.
Naff , great British slang.
