- Barry Ferguson inspired Rangers to a resounding 5-1 victory against Celtic with a standout performance that included scoring the opening goal. Henrik Larsson equalised at the start of the second half but when Alan Thompson was sent off minutes after debutant Tore Andre Flo had put Rangers 2-1 ahead they were never in the game. Ronald de Boer and Lorenzo Amoruso both headed in from Jorg Albertz corners while Michael Mols completed the rout with a smart finish after a sweeping move.

Mols was a talent....he could've been among the greats! So unfortunate he got knee ligament injury....he was never the same after that.

Quality is so much better, look at the build up for the final Rangers goal, although when you spend above your means (as all Scottish clubs did in the 90s/early 2000s) on £12m strikers for example, the quality is always going to be higher, but the bubble is always going to eventually burst. Quite evident now.

Jorg Albertz was absolute class for the Bears. Although, an unung hero and one of the best all round users of a football i've ever seen at Ibrox was Claudio Reyna. He was a wee gem of a player.Theres noboby at Ibrox now thats worthy to spit polish these two players boots.
And now his son is next up at dortmund! Big fan of Claudio for his work on the USMNT.

I was there. Corporate hospitality was after the game so there was one big party in the various suites after the match. One memory was of a Celtic fan standing after the match slapping his belly after the rest of them had gone home.

What a tem we had then! Klos, Amo, Numan, Albertz, Ferguson, Mols, De Boer, Van Bronkhorst and Flo. Serious football on show back then none of the Ian Black pish we have to tollerate now!
I remember being at this game in with the bhoys. My first old firm and the atmosphere was amazing from both sets of fans. You hear hate stories but the banter was unbelievable.

20 years ago.I remember watching this game in a predominantely 2nd generation Mick pub in Lincoln where I live . When the 5th goal went in .I was on the table on the flute . They wanted to kill me .
I was at Outward Bound with my school during that game, came back from one of the activities and checked Teletext (Remember that?) and seen we won 5-1, which was great, but when I seen that Mols had scored I jumped for joy, was chuffed for him after all his injuries.

I followed Michael Mols at FC Utrecht and when Rangers got him I was blown away! Told all the guys watch out for Mols he's a phenomenon player. Would say he would have been probably the best striker Scotland has seen if Oliver khan didn't ruin him with that innocuous challenge when he done his knee with an awkward landing!!!Sad stuff what could have been 🇬🇧
