  • One of the questions ive always wondered is how far my home build electric bike can travel with 1 charge. having never ran the battery completely dead. This week we find out in a truly epic e bike ride down the entire northeast coast of Northumberland with a night of wild camping this adventure has to be among some of the best ebike rides ive even been on, even tho i had to be rescued nothing could dampen the sprits.

    I’m sorry if this sounds like a stupid question but say if you was to get a puncture in your back wheel would you still be able to take it off and repair it without messing up any electrical wires?

    • @theebikenut4679
      @theebikenut4679  Před 4 lety +2

      It's not a stuipd question at all mate all the wires are connected under the crank it's a bit of a chew but you can disconnect them there... I've also left just enough wire to take the wheel off without disconnecting the wires should you get a puncture. Some but not all ebikes are the same.

    My 72 volt 30ah Daymak Arrow ebike (without pedal assist) will regularly give me 70 - 80 km range if I keep it on 1st gear 80% of the way. Next Spring I will be upgrading from 72v 30ah Sealed Lead Acid batteries to 96v 35ah Lithium batteries and I expect that should get me pretty close to 100 km range. Ebikes = No better way to get around! Keep doing what you do, mate. I enjoyed watching this.

Thanks for the information, I made a 85v Bluetooth battery 6p configuration and I used 5ah litakala 22650 to make 30ah for my stealth i got a sabvoton 72v 150 amps on it . I didn't know that you can travel so far with a 30ah battery. Thanks for your information.

    80 miles is great! Your bike looks great. Roads there are so much better for ebike/bikes then rural USA.
    I've got 2 52v batteries (keep at 80% charge normally) on my 19" frame/5" tire khs 1000 fatbike. 17.5ah (normal) and 20ah (rear rack spare). No idea on max as normally I toggle the assist on and off with peddle assist level 1 or 2 (of 9). 52v/50amp BHSHD (2600w) with a 35 tooth sprocket and 10 speed rear casset. Did 22 miles other weekend dropped from 58v to 55v on the 17.5ah (bms cutoff is around 46v i think)

    Back pain and saddle sore I’m with you on that Nut. I frequent rode 80 miles plus. You reminded I must get some gel padding. Awesome video and the weather was excellent. Version two DIY battery planned? I’ve yet to range test the 21s 18p pack. However, from 83-60 volts at approximate 50kmh 32mph it rode for 95km 60 miles. At a lower speed and higher charge 86v 138km 86 miles with ample voltage capacity more than 70+ volts on arrival home.🖐👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

    • @theebikenut4679
      @theebikenut4679  Před 4 lety

      I'm not sure about another battery mate I wouldn't usually travel this far the most miles I've done on it was 80miles and thought a max would be about 120miles after my Durham trip but that entire ride was flat and there was no wind. One of my big ideas is to do coast to coast and eventually travel around Europe with 50 to 80 mile range Im pretty sure I could find somewhere for some charge obviously when the shops are open again. I would love to stop for a coffee and be cheeky and ask to charge the bike...it sounds like a adventure lol

    • @e-bikerbulgaria
      @e-bikerbulgaria Před 4 lety

      The E Bike Nut lol, m8 I stop at cafes all the time, even stop at petrol stations. I’ve stopped at ever Luk Oil garage from Burgas to home that’s a 100km ride on a good road. Handy thing is all the Luk Oil petrol stations are with a socket outside. Cheeky part I suppose is getting a charge without spending any money 👍.That I never do. There is one village cafe, village of Byala, Stara Planina, mountain were I stop that often I don’t buy anything I just leave the money on the counter 50 pence to a quid. That trip were awesome, you plan on more. Did you know your bike costs about the same property in Bulgaria. 😎

      @@e-bikerbulgaria Thats why i follow your channel mate i love the long rides you go for ive seen you charging your bike from the car chargers... mint idea. im thinking along the same lines as you i would obviously pay someone to let me get a bit charge. i would even stop and knock on some ones door if i got suck but if i end up doing a long ride i will try and plan my camp sites /hotels b&bs ect about 50 to 60 miles a part that way i could plan the hole journey i priced up going to Holland and checked out all the camp sites down to dover there is loads along the way it would be another brilliant adventure its even crossed my mind to ask you to meet half way from Bulgaria we could meet in the middle but getting time off work to do that kind of trip would be unlikey and trying convince emma is another story completely lol if emma comes along on one of these adventures i will definitely need to make another battery her bike only does about 30 miles best thing is you can still pedal it when the battery is dead...but who really wants to pedal lol
      as if you can buy a house for the price of my bike haha just goes to show how expensive the UK is. no wonder you live over there.

    • @e-bikerbulgaria
      @e-bikerbulgaria Před 4 lety

      The E Bike Nut I ran out out of power once with V2 battery, arrived in this village and not one shop had a spare socket, was summer and the fridges were in use and the cafe had no staff. I walked around the main square like some beggar lol until I got chatting to some locals and one offered a charge at his house. Short from the long I burnt his multi socket, Oops. I did send him a new one and some cable, didn’t want to be hated on if ever past through again. 😂. A meet up is a grand idea. However, at certain borders are unlikely to cross unless a bike be registered with number plates, too risky and they could impound the bike. I ride to a village near Turkey, and the road is swarming with police, been pulled once and had to argue that’s its a bicycle. I’d find a few locals with similar bikes first and obtain some local data. No worries about the house, and if I buy a spare (back-up home, cause are that cheap) always bring the family plus bike and stay. I’m not back until August, stuck here in the UK, another 3 months but cannot grumble the weather is sunny.

      @theebikenut4679  Před 4 lety

      Lmao now that sounds like my kind of trip getting lost and braking down excites me haha I think I'm a bit of a freak if nothing goes wrong then it's not really an adventure. You should have seen me at that rail road crossing I was wounded and added a good 3 mile to the trip but it all adds to the exploring side of it I think this trip has prepared me for a longer ride it gives you confidence you can actually do it... Anyone can blast up the a1 but try doing it on a home built ebike with limited power around lanes and tracks you don't know.. It's a completely different story. If I end up going to Holland it's a ferry ride I've thought about taking the plastics off and actually pedaling it to the boat. I see what you mean about boarders tho. I thought it was cool in your videos when you go through one. Takes some balls... I haven't even been to mc Donalds on mine yet 😂
