- One of the questions ive always wondered is how far my home build electric bike can travel with 1 charge. having never ran the battery completely dead. This week we find out in a truly epic e bike ride down the entire northeast coast of Northumberland with a night of wild camping this adventure has to be among some of the best ebike rides ive even been on, even tho i had to be rescued nothing could dampen the sprits.

I’m sorry if this sounds like a stupid question but say if you was to get a puncture in your back wheel would you still be able to take it off and repair it without messing up any electrical wires?
It's not a stuipd question at all mate all the wires are connected under the crank it's a bit of a chew but you can disconnect them there... I've also left just enough wire to take the wheel off without disconnecting the wires should you get a puncture. Some but not all ebikes are the same.
The E Bike Nut thanks a bunch 😀
I fix punctures without removing wheel from bike, plus I use slime in the tyres so I rarely get a flat anyway
.
I've just recently bought some Michelin foam inner tubes off eBay for £111 each for my stealth so I don't have to worry about punctures anymore worth every penny, highly recommended
My 72 volt 30ah Daymak Arrow ebike (without pedal assist) will regularly give me 70 - 80 km range if I keep it on 1st gear 80% of the way. Next Spring I will be upgrading from 72v 30ah Sealed Lead Acid batteries to 96v 35ah Lithium batteries and I expect that should get me pretty close to 100 km range. Ebikes = No better way to get around! Keep doing what you do, mate. I enjoyed watching this.
That's just amazing 👏 very well done you are so cool. Thanks for the information, I made a 85v Bluetooth battery 6p configuration and I used 5ah litakala 22650 to make 30ah for my stealth i got a sabvoton 72v 150 amps on it . I didn't know that you can travel so far with a 30ah battery. Thanks for your information.
Absolutely fantastic!! What an adventure!
Beautiful part of the world ...would love to bring my bike up and go for a camping trip...them tracks..awesome ..miles and miles 👍
Mate it was truly awesome getting lost like that is all part of the adventure... I'm definitely up for doing something like that again. Where abouts are you from?
@@theebikenut4679 yeah mate..im down in Cambridgeshire..looks awesome..would be a great weekend...few beers bbq camping..cool
@@theebikenut4679 yeah ive sold my 8000w stealth..waiting on a new one..should be with me in a few weeks..but this one is a 3000w 48v 30.6ah ..i know bit crazy to go down in power..but the 8000w was a heavy beast..battery alone was 20kg lol..
@@steve7163 sounds like a plan mate I've been wanting to go to the Lake District for a long while now so that might be my next adventure. I know you live a long way from me but next time I do something like this I will give you a shout. It would be brilliant 👍
@@steve7163 that's the problem with these bikes mate to be honest I love Emma's bike to I can still do bunny hops and endos i think I've just got the battery bug. I love all ebikes lol
awesome buddy , thanks for video. I must try it as well on my setup qs273 40ah battery , cheers
thanks for the feed back mate. the qs273 is a heavy hub i will definitely be interested to now how many miles you can get with 40ah be sure to let me know. im sure you will get a fair few miles.. word of warning use cycling shorts and take some nappy cream lol
You got some balls for doing that bro I gotta give it to ya looks like fun.My bike would have died going that far.👍👍😁
Amazing love it you've got some balls will! Videos need to be longer keep up the good work
Thanks for your comment. Cheers mate 👍
80 miles is great! Your bike looks great. Roads there are so much better for ebike/bikes then rural USA.
I've got 2 52v batteries (keep at 80% charge normally) on my 19" frame/5" tire khs 1000 fatbike. 17.5ah (normal) and 20ah (rear rack spare). No idea on max as normally I toggle the assist on and off with peddle assist level 1 or 2 (of 9). 52v/50amp BHSHD (2600w) with a 35 tooth sprocket and 10 speed rear casset. Did 22 miles other weekend dropped from 58v to 55v on the 17.5ah (bms cutoff is around 46v i think)
I have a 52v 20ah battery. Averaging about 225 watts, I went 51 miles, and battery power was still strong. Most watts used was 500 on steep grade
.(49.5 volts left)
Oh so that's how you wear a helmet 😂
Back pain and saddle sore I’m with you on that Nut. I frequent rode 80 miles plus. You reminded I must get some gel padding. Awesome video and the weather was excellent. Version two DIY battery planned? I’ve yet to range test the 21s 18p pack. However, from 83-60 volts at approximate 50kmh 32mph it rode for 95km 60 miles. At a lower speed and higher charge 86v 138km 86 miles with ample voltage capacity more than 70+ volts on arrival home.🖐👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I'm not sure about another battery mate I wouldn't usually travel this far the most miles I've done on it was 80miles and thought a max would be about 120miles after my Durham trip but that entire ride was flat and there was no wind. One of my big ideas is to do coast to coast and eventually travel around Europe with 50 to 80 mile range Im pretty sure I could find somewhere for some charge obviously when the shops are open again. I would love to stop for a coffee and be cheeky and ask to charge the bike...it sounds like a adventure lol
The E Bike Nut lol, m8 I stop at cafes all the time, even stop at petrol stations. I’ve stopped at ever Luk Oil garage from Burgas to home that’s a 100km ride on a good road. Handy thing is all the Luk Oil petrol stations are with a socket outside. Cheeky part I suppose is getting a charge without spending any money 👍.That I never do. There is one village cafe, village of Byala, Stara Planina, mountain were I stop that often I don’t buy anything I just leave the money on the counter 50 pence to a quid. That trip were awesome, you plan on more. Did you know your bike costs about the same property in Bulgaria. 😎
@@e-bikerbulgaria Thats why i follow your channel mate i love the long rides you go for ive seen you charging your bike from the car chargers... mint idea. im thinking along the same lines as you i would obviously pay someone to let me get a bit charge. i would even stop and knock on some ones door if i got suck but if i end up doing a long ride i will try and plan my camp sites /hotels b&bs ect about 50 to 60 miles a part that way i could plan the hole journey i priced up going to Holland and checked out all the camp sites down to dover there is loads along the way it would be another brilliant adventure its even crossed my mind to ask you to meet half way from Bulgaria we could meet in the middle but getting time off work to do that kind of trip would be unlikey and trying convince emma is another story completely lol if emma comes along on one of these adventures i will definitely need to make another battery her bike only does about 30 miles best thing is you can still pedal it when the battery is dead...but who really wants to pedal lol
as if you can buy a house for the price of my bike haha just goes to show how expensive the UK is. no wonder you live over there.
The E Bike Nut I ran out out of power once with V2 battery, arrived in this village and not one shop had a spare socket, was summer and the fridges were in use and the cafe had no staff. I walked around the main square like some beggar lol until I got chatting to some locals and one offered a charge at his house. Short from the long I burnt his multi socket, Oops. I did send him a new one and some cable, didn’t want to be hated on if ever past through again. 😂. A meet up is a grand idea. However, at certain borders are unlikely to cross unless a bike be registered with number plates, too risky and they could impound the bike. I ride to a village near Turkey, and the road is swarming with police, been pulled once and had to argue that’s its a bicycle. I’d find a few locals with similar bikes first and obtain some local data. No worries about the house, and if I buy a spare (back-up home, cause are that cheap) always bring the family plus bike and stay. I’m not back until August, stuck here in the UK, another 3 months but cannot grumble the weather is sunny.
Lmao now that sounds like my kind of trip getting lost and braking down excites me haha I think I'm a bit of a freak if nothing goes wrong then it's not really an adventure. You should have seen me at that rail road crossing I was wounded and added a good 3 mile to the trip but it all adds to the exploring side of it I think this trip has prepared me for a longer ride it gives you confidence you can actually do it... Anyone can blast up the a1 but try doing it on a home built ebike with limited power around lanes and tracks you don't know.. It's a completely different story. If I end up going to Holland it's a ferry ride I've thought about taking the plastics off and actually pedaling it to the boat. I see what you mean about boarders tho. I thought it was cool in your videos when you go through one. Takes some balls... I haven't even been to mc Donalds on mine yet 😂
i get 21 miles on my hailong 48v(55.6v) 13.5aH and around 45 miles on my pannier 4x 6s Overlander lipos 16000maH (parallel then serial to 51.1v) but i only running a 1000w at the moment, in Royal Deeside ;)
How much do you weigh ?
@@ianmangham4570 about 8.5 - 9 stone, i don’t live in a flat country, major hills with good regen downhills, away to fit a Phaserunner and find out how much regen, plans for a one wheel trailer and 3 flexible 100w panels when i get some investment(R&D) then maybe try for Fort William :)
Beer and beans =Essential
Everything you need for a night under the stars lol
Cool I should also built a big battery.
I've got a 20s battery build coming soon m8 should be on hear in the next few weeks 👍
I Love the Back Ground Music ? I started Dancing to it LOL
Its not the usual cheesy crap lol
Mint that, if i get a bike sorted i may get a ebike weekend sorted at Beadnell mainly for 20" fat bikes at campsite in Beadnell across from the village shop across the road that my lasses dad runs on the bend before the golf course.
You should definitely get one built mate I've just been out on Emma's bike and even 1000w is brilliant. I'm sure you can hire fat bikes up there I seen a few lads out on some I'm pretty sure you can at North Berwick to.
@@theebikenut4679 i want one with 20 inch wheels like a super 73 or similar or a beach cruiser as my coccyx is knackered and in pain all the time so need something with a cloud for a seat, was in Whitley last night on my big scooter and had a go of a lads 125 honda monkey and even that was painfull but getting an ebike once my Honda sells, either build one or buy direct, mates got a 1000w mario coming from China in a month too so can see what his is like as i just wanna pose about with a decent range not fussed on high speed just comfort n posing.
@@Thegeordiemonkey why don't we team up and build somthing mate we could build exactly what you want and make it something to help with your back. it doesn't matter what we come up with we could buy the steel and actually build what you have in mind. Even tho I haven't met you Id call you a mate. So if your interested let your mind run wild and let me know what you have in mind. We can make anything happen m8 I'll come see you soon anyways I what to see them awesome bikes you have hidden away. You sound like my kinda of guy.
@@theebikenut4679 al send you a friend request on facey mate my mate getting the mario is dieing to haveca look at your bike, could meet up some point soon for a bit craic on we wil come up on the Hondas.
Sound mate ill give you a shout when I get a chance I'm a busy lad but will definitely come have a bit crack with you 👍
If a ebike had lithium can I go sla battery?
interesting question mate. the answer in short is yes but you will have to know what your doing it will depend on how many amps you will be pulling there will be no bms so you will have to choose your sla batteries carefully, you may also need another charger.
@@theebikenut4679 Thank you.
I get between 60 and 150 miles range from 30ah but it is much lighter and push bike based.
60 to 150?? Why do you think it varies so much?
What cells is in your pack?
Loving my DIY ebike, there really is no better way to get around here in Yorkshire, just car drivers and rain can be a pain but the good far outweigh the bad.
Police aren't interested unless you ride like an idiot atm , hope that doesn't change.
Cow-abunga
usually like 8 mil on 52 volt batty 25 to 34 mph about 4 amp hours
what kind of battery do you have? 14s 2p???
@@theebikenut4679 two luna wolf pup batterys in parallel but yes 14s
yea 58 v charged =52 v nom v batty check luna cycle for the wolf pup batty i got 2
How do you get around travelling on puplic roads on and off with a bike that looks like a crosser and a crosser helmet on. And never get pulled . I have same style bike and helmet .
Simply because no body cares mate just don't blast about like a idiot. my bike may look like a crosser but is a pedal bike I built is so it can look like anything I want it to look like.
Come on lad helmet on! Kids are watching and your makeing money from these vids.
Lol making money?? Are you having a laugh haha I don't make a penny!! and I do usually where a crash helmet.
@@theebikenut4679 lol was a little dig....lost a mate riding last year on e bike. He didn't have a helmet on. Keep up with the vids tho budy ace👍
