  • This is what happens when you ride around like a knob. This was a lucky escape and I'm taking it as a warning. One of my brothers mates had a go on my bike he had been blasting about like a idiot and the cops seen him and followed him to my house! thinking it was a pit bike they where ready to take action however when they realised is was electric there faces and demeanor completely changed. The video tells the story.

Yep, that's the exact reason for me, It has a massive battery for the range! That's what I told the police also, when I get stopped 3 times in the space of a month. They seam to have a crackdown on E-bikes, electric scooter etc every so often. I use mine for deliveries, so I see the police consistently almost everyday, and for years and years! they have not once said anything to me. Then all of a sudden I was stopped like 3 times in the space of a month, even though I was just riding like normal, just cruising gently, taking it easy. They asked me questions about how powerful, how fast, does it have pedals etc. Then i found out around the same time the lad across the road from me, had his e-scooter taken off him and another lad I know had his bike taken off him around the same time. Basically they have a campaign every so often.
Ultimately E-bikes were massively restricted by government because they know if they were aloud to be ridden at speeds were they would be useful to most people who commute, say 22mph like in America, then they would replace cars for a lot of people!!. The government don't want to loose all of there earnings from fuel taxation/the automotive industry, car tax etc, the big oil companies don't want to loose billions in profits from lots of people moving to E-bikes. So the oil companies etc no doubt lobbied the government, to pass laws restricting E-bikes to the point where they are not a viable commuting vehicle. So 15 mph isn't gonna get you to work without giving up a large chunk of your time travelling. So people stick to rolling around in giant 1.5 tonne metal boxes that consume more energy in one trip, than your bike will in a week. On top of which the giant metal boxes that people roll around in, are potentially far more dangerous than any E-bike, when you factor in there top speed and weight. I mean, people die every day on the roads due to car accidents. But nope! Not aloud to ride around on a 45kg E-bike more than 15mph!!! Too dangerous!!!!! ..... Where is the logic!!

I ride at speeds comparable to push bikes unless I'm on a track that's got no one around at all.
The electric for me is nice for the hills mostly.

The E Bike Nut Never fitted mirrors? I couldn’t ride without knowing what be to my back. Although I did start riding around my locality with a yellow folder. I got a good sense of where authority stood regards Ebikes, they either loved them or ridiculed the bike (and rider). I got mirrors on the folder when were in the middle of know where wasn’t with a care in the world and stuck behind me a Municipality Police vehicle lol. They cared not one jot, but I’m sure was mentioned back at station least as 40km away.

I have thought about but they get caught on branches and things when your off road. I have a idea in mind to make them mobile phone mirrors that way I could record everything that's happing and still use them like a mirror it might make my videos a little more interesting to, so it could be a future thing.

@@theebikenut4679 great vid bud. Have a look at those mirrors that go under the bars, should be ok off road in the woods. My bike is a GT hardtail with CYC X1 pro gen2 with asi bac2000 controller and 20s lipo, I have it set at 6000watts but is capable of over 7kw, whole bike including battery pack weighs about16-17 kilo. I have the motor mounted inside the frame triangle (unlike the bafang that hangs down) so the silhouette is un changed. Police don't even notice it's electric half the time and like you said i don't ride like an idiot, also I can switch mode to EU legal at the press of a button. I love my bike, looks like a cool mountain bike that I can ride anywhere but has the performance of a 125cc crosser, happy days, Keep up the vids mate even when strapped for cash, you'll come through it.

@@arjai9092 If the whole bike weighs 16-17 kilo, that's impressive. My Bafang kit and bike weighs 24 kilo (slick tyred mountain bike) though I have a few kilo to shave off on my body. How much battery capacity do you have at this weight? I'm assuming 6000 watts won't last long if you're riding it hard otherwise. My bike is quite efficient at speeds below 25 mph, though at 35-40 with the power gauge in the red at 1100 watts it will drain the battery faster. I nailed the throttle for 8 miles at 36 mph with some hard pedaling for more boost and when I recharged the battery to full I measured 310 watt hours so about 6 pence. At a more leisurely pace of 24 mph with some added pedaling it was 180 watt hours for the same trip. I've been 40 miles on about 690 watt hours, only nailing the throttle on hills as at least I get an almost linear speed return on them. I mean it's a 750 watt motor so ~20 mph up hills depending on how steep and gear choice and bike/rider weight. It's geared a bit tall for very steep MTB climbs, though my mum's driveway averages about a 1 in 5 and with full throttle in 1st and sprint pedaling it does about 14 mph (the motor will bog down a bit on that size hill in a 52/32 without pedaling).
