Myself and three other guys got the opportunity to fly a Boeing 767 down to Diego Garcia. Boeing 767-300ER departing from Diego Garcia, BIOT. View from the cockpit.
Love that shot to the left of Thunder Cove right after take off! Lived in there in 2003 supporting B-52 then B-1 ops during Operation Enduring Freedom.
Taking off and landing on an still must be an interesting experience for a pilot. Expansive ocean. Tiny islands in strips of land that barely rise out of the water (and sometimes don't) But to do so at Diego Garcia with the reputation it has for secrecy must be even more of a unique experience. The rest of us - whether we are logically-minded or conspiracy theory types - will always just remain curious about the place.
