The reason that you're not hearing ATC is because of the infrequency of flights in and out of there. There are days when the only flight is an AMC flight carrying passengers and cargo. When we would fly there (in a C-141B), ATC would often give us clearance from FL300 to sea level at our discretion. There are occasionally bombers deployed on the island and flight activity ramps up but otherwise, it's generally pretty quiet. Great video!
It's a Naval Base that has welcomed the other services aboard if you were there to build it you might have a claim! MCB 5 75'-76'
That's the coconut plantation side of the island right after turtle cove
Unless you are in military you won’t be flying here. I spent a year on this island 40 years ago while in the Navy.
Very cool! One of the reasons I enjoying flying in the sim ... I can make something happen that would otherwise not happen!
@@dadflies1864 yea it's a lot of water for many miles. I was there 84-85. It gets really small after one year.
Looks like the service ceiling of your plane is 21000 feet. No supplemental oxygen?
I spent a year there from 2018 - 2019. I would have done a second year in a heartbeat!
Me too. I had a buddy who did 2 tours on the island. Living conditions improved a lot when I was there. We stayed in tin roof huts when I first arrived. About 4 months later they finished the new barracks close to cannon point. Finally got A/C to sleep in, lol.
This is one of those remote places that almost sounds surreal to have had a chance to spend time there - so neat. Thanks for sharing!
Not sure he knows where he is. Doesn't even look like DG. Was there 75/76 and again 82/83 as a Navy CT. Nothing looks familiar.
Can do
And the island really doesn't look very much like that
I was there in the beginning, Was there with MCB 4 from October 1973 to July 1974. Wouldn't mind going back and se3 how the place had change. We lived in the old Sea Huts
