Always a pleasure to see the fruit of labour of continual 5 eyes presence around the world. That store has everything considering how remote the atoll is.
WOW..THANKS FOR SHARING VIDEO.....79-80 WOW THE ROCK HAS COME A LONG WAY.....WO3W
Yes, and we're lucky to enjoy it. Thanks for watching. Stay tuned for more fun videos
Wow, a ship's store! I ran the MARS station in 1972/73. DG sure has changed since then. I was part of ATCU 4.
Enjoy shopping
I will begin working on a container ship stationed at Diego Garcia soon. It’s funny to think we’ll be purchasing the same items we’d just delivered to the island store.
I worked in Ship Store 1983- 1993, I miss DG life
Pinoy saurus I was there from 1986-2000.stock clerk ako noon then nalipat sa shipstore warehouse.nag pang abot tayo noon.
in 1986 we had milk in the box, no real milk. Wonder if it is still the same
We have fresh, full cream and skim milk in plastic bottles and tetra packs, also canned evaporated and condensed milk as well as powdered milk
i was there july22 till August 23. enjoyed a lot with sweet and sour memories ❤❤❤❤❤❤
@@supersinia143 kbr has increased the salaries of TCN or still paying very low?????
Beautiful 💕
Here is any storm chance you face that?
Your profession and how long here?
Clean n tidy,nice to c n one broken consider sold.....😍😍😍( Market or mall ? )
The store is huge compared to when I was there in the early 80's. Back then, it was smaller than most 7-11's. It had the side and back walls with two aisle dividers in the middle. When they finally got women on the island, the space for stuff got less because now they had to make shelf room for things like bras, panties, make-up and feminine hygiene products.
Hahaha, that's funny, but yes it got better I'm glad to share some of the places here for people who have been here and people that are getting stationed here. I got approached by people when they finally get here and tell me I've helped them decide what to bring. Glad you liked the video. Thanks 😉
Pringles were the only chips and you had to be E6 or higher to buy meat. I remember cooking beans in the room. We had a civilian tech Tom Crawly who would buy meat for us. They put his room off-limits because he lived in officer country. Cigarettes were $4.50 a carton and a fifth of liquor was like $4.00 or more.
When I was there the company I worked for was DG21 they payed for our Meals at the galley!! I liked eating at the galley
Yeah, me too.when I was working for DG21 in 2011. What annex did you work for?
@@derekdestep40 I missed your comment and just saw it today when I was browsing Malaysian comments
hi, will be deployed to DG this 2024, hope you can give me an idea on the situation of the internet there. Thanks for the upload, your video is a HUGE Help!
Hi, thanks for dropping by. Internet there is slow but a lot better nowadays. You can watch Netflix, play some games, unlike 5 years ago. It is kind of expensive, $54 for 3GB limit, that is the cheapest plan. Hope this helps. I have other videos that may help you in packing your stuff, what you need. Check them out. Cheers
@@supersinia143 Hi Thanks for your quick response. That is quite expensive but I guess that comes with being in the middle of the ocean. Im currently watching your vids, and they are a great help!
@@donueljamesmendoza5261 yes, it is. Glad to be of help. I'm sure you're gonna love DG, nothing like it
When was that building built? Ship store in 1987 was like some quonsett hut or something. Way more items too. Looks bigger than the exchange at Ellington Field in Houston.
According to the books, it was built in 1977 but expanded in 2008 and some other renovations throughout the years. Yes, we got basic items ;)
@@supersinia143 Mabutay Mabuhay. ok it's in the same location then. The ship store was real small. I remember a px there in town where I bought corral shoes. Thank you for showing us.
@@comm2531 the shipstore is the px, there was one like a commissary before named Diego Depot but it was closed when the shipstore was expanded so the food products were transfered there, if my memory serves me right lol
Sinia, my office mate! Ship's Store has changed a bit since I was there. Want an espresso?
Why is there no MARS station on the island? There used to be one early on. I’ve contacted the ham radio station that used to be there.
Good question! No idea. Probably no one is interested anymore or no budget
I miss DGAR! Sinia I think we met right before I left.. I hope you are well.
Hello! I miss DGAR too. I left in April. I am good, here in Guam now. Thanks for asking. Where are you stationed now? What's your name?
I was there in 1980 on a 9 month deployment From Norfolk VA through the medeterian sea stopped in Alexandria Egypt saw the pyramids of Giza went through the Suez Canal on our way there for the Summer on the way back to Norfolk we had stopped in Athen's, Greece & Rota, Spain on our way back to the USofA interesting year working on the ship in the harbor and in those days we took a boat from the ship to the island for liberty whenever we we given liberty.
Just got my first orders. I'm headed here in a few months
Remember to take leave midway thru your tour. Island fever is a thing and DG had the highest number of incidents of suicidal ideations I ever seen (proportional to its military population). If you take leave midway thru, the year will feel fast.
@@StockyDudeDo they have anywhere to cook? Like hotels with kitchenette?
How did you get to be there, I would like to go too
It is a British island leased to the U.S. military. There are British troops there too.
Wow...wish we have that kind of shops here in the Maldives, just a couple of thousand kms north of yoyr island :)
How much for short time !
Hi mam. Not familiar in this island. US din puba may hawak? Kakaalis lang kase ng tito ko papunta jan. Hope you notice. Thanks. God bless.
Hello! You may google Diego Garcia, marami na info about this place. God bless!
Oh I remember shopping in here... I do remember getting mosquito bites and running here as fast as I could to buy Camomile lotion!!! Ahhh relief!
found any clue on the missing plane MH370 while you were there?
jgn mudah percaya... yg pelik org yg disyaki penumpang tu smua nampak happy je... tak logik.. tak kan tak rindu keluarga.. dan jika betul pun tak kan lah mereka benar kan gambar mereka di ambil...
puak2 atasan buat kerja cemerlang in cover up. penghuni diego garcia sendiri tak dpt hidu tentang rampasan pesawat. kita tunggu sket lg kantoi jugak nnt.. sket lagi…
mungkin mereka dihilangkan ingatan. Moga kesemua penumpang selamat disana dan dibawa balik kepangkuan keluarga tak lama lagi. Ameen
any info about mh370 at diego garcia?? please respond 😭
@@supersinia143 are you sure? Don't you have heard about mh370? Help us to find them 🥲

Wala bang vlog kung pano makapunta ang mga pinoy na gusto mag work jan
Wala po. Pero pwede nyo igoogle jobs in Diego Garcia. I'm sure may makikita kayo don. Give it a try. Good luck!
Is the store built on one of the ancient natives graveyards?
There are no “ancient natives” of Diego Garcia, the island was uninhabited when discovered by Europeans
For those that commented why some of their faces looks similar to malaysian people, THEYRE NOT. Those island is filled with Filipinos and Mexicans. All i can say is that the island is surely mysteriously weird. MH370 could be there could be not.
No, it’s not there. Do you think they would do something so sneaky on a base that has so many Filipino contractors who don’t have security clearances?
All that sugar on the shelves!!!
Sugar in the morning sugar in the evening sugar at supper time....won't you be my sugar? And love me all the time. Song by the Andew sisters
Every commissary and exchange always has Filipinas working
I think that is because Filipinas are great with people and customer service
The Philippines was and always will be my favorite port to visit....
Always looked forward to getting back to Olongapo.....
Love to the philippines and the people!
Diego Garcia was just an air strip and a few huts when I was there.
