This woman's life will fade out alone and unloved and she won't have the ability to be anything other than grudgeful and bitter, because there is waaayyyy too much narc in that head for there to be any ability to reflect on her own behaviour and actions. Here is the removed post btw:
My MIL made a few reddit posts recently, and over the last few days one got some attention and they were all made into a tiktok. My best friend shared that tiktok with me earlier today. I found the post, and many people said she belonged in the sub. Reading the comments on those posts made me feel so much better about what I was doing. I then came here and began reading others stories, and it has been cathartic, so I wanted to share my own.
Husband and I have been married for 3 years, together for 4, and he has a daughter from a previous relationship. We just had a baby girl who is a couple of months old.
To make a long story short since no one wants to read the novel the last few months would be, my MIL is a bitch. She treated me terrible in my recent labor, and postpartum. Called constantly during the birth, wanted to be there, threw a tantrum that I said no, posted that my baby was born before me and before all my family knew, threw a fit about taking it down, then was shitty we wouldn't see her when we left the hospital. I had PP pre E, had to go back to the hospital, almost died, she downplayed it and was a bitch because I didn't return her call at 7 am and had my husband do it instead while I was laying in a hospital bed for the second time trying not to die. I called her because she was rude to DH and he got shitty with me, she said some really shitty things to me, my mom wanted to fight her (she sums this up pretty well in her post, honestly. And yes, she doesnt think she did anything wrong, she truly doesn’t understand how insane she sounds) 😅.
When we left the second time, we stopped by so she could see the baby since she couldn't drive. This was nice because it wasn't at her house (which is disgusting), and we could leave when we wanted. She came to our house about 2 weeks later, and my DH had to pick her up. She definitely overstayed her welcome and woukdnt leave when my DH tried to get her to, he had to essentially force her out. Note: she has not asked to visit once since then. She has threw a fit about us "keeping SD from her". She wants us to read her mind.
She apologized around 2 weeks ago to my DH to pass along to me for everything that hurt me. Wasn't really an apology, but I had moved on and decided I didn't need an apology already.
Then, out of no where, a friend of hers reaches out and tells us SHE IS GOING FOR GRANDPARENTS RIGHTS?! She also informs us that I'm a vile women, DH made a mistake marrying me, and she has a plan to get us to divorce by lying and getting me to believe my DH was sleeping with an ex she is still very close with according to friend.
Both DH and I lost our shit. DH was ready to call and rip her a new one, but I finally wanted to stand up for myself so I sent her a text message laying it all out (she edited my text cutting out the info about her plan to sabotage my marriage). I told her that we would have no contact with her, and I blocked her. She later called DH and sobbed to him, and he told her to fuck off essentially.
Until my friend sent me the tiktok, I was honestly feeling really guilty. I felt like maybe I was being too harsh on her. My gut tells me I'm doing the right thing, but in the comments she admitted she acted out of anger. DH will do whatever I want to do, but he said he can't forgive her. The fact she would try to legally make herself a parent and felt so entitled that she would steal some of the precious time he gets with SD really hurt him.
I honestly expected her to show up over the weekend since it was our weekend with SD, but she didn't. We haven't gotten served with anything yet (and we may never - fingers crossed). I screenshotted everything she posted in case I need it (if I can even use it).
I'm incredibly disturbed by some of the things she said, especially about me not being a suitable parent for my baby, but I know she loves SD, and she also admits in her posts she acted out of anger. I think she is a narcissist, and have for a while now based on things she says to DH when they fight (the good ol' "you owe me because I birthed you and provided the bare minimum so you have to bend to my will."). I also think she has some other mental health issues, and some trauma that it stems from. I know that doesn't excuse anything, but it gives me a reason for why she is acting like this. We've only had one major falling out before, and when things are good with her she's a very different person.
This is hopefully the end of my awful mother in law story, but thank you to everyone who has posted theirs so I could read them and cope over the weekend 😅.

      It's crazy.

    • @RealCoolstriker64
      @RealCoolstriker64 Před rokem +27

She’s most likely a clinical narcissist. I base that off of a lot of different things in the post, but I’m just gonna ask you to trust me on this until you find my other comments about this.
Basically if there were 1 neuron that activated every time you did something, and another neuron that would activate if something that just happened was wrong, OP has an impenetrable wall between those two neurons, meaning she can’t think the thought “What I did was wrong.” What we see throughout the story, is a result of her increasing frustration because she *genuinely* does not understand that her actions are the sole cause of the conflict here. In fact, she *can’t* understand that. So she won’t change her behavior. As her family pulls back, she pushes harder, they pull back harder.
That’s why I’d say Rslash was right on the money when he said that last post was her covertly asking how to delay the house sale. By that point she’d pushed the targets completely into no-contact. Since she can no longer get an interaction from them without them choosing to, she’s going to start becoming a problem to *force* them to interact with her. Because at this point: any engagement is good engagement, even if it’s negative. If you look into it, this is the exact kind of behavior stalkers display. From this point things will be a “cat and mouse game” where OP tries to find any lingering ways she can access the family and try to leverage interaction, and the victims will attempt to sort that situation and sever that line of access.
In my other comment I talked about “the break” narcissists go through. I said the end of the story is definitely that, but on reflection: this *could* be the break, or it could just be the first crack. Who knows.
“The break” is the point at which their delusions have them so far removed from reality, they they can talk themselves into just about anything. THIS is the point at which OP may attempt to kidnap the baby.
You’ve already seen OP’s delusions evolve from “Bea talks negatively about me” to “Bea is a manipulative abuser!” And if you really think about it, a manipulative abuser who baby trapped OP’s son is basically holding him against his will, since “he’s only doing this because of her.” And from there OP’s line of thought could REALLY jump off the deep end. From there she could claim her son is being coerced, or held hostage. Remember: she isn’t *just* claiming these things, if she says it: there’s a good chance she *genuinely* believes it to be true; or at the very least what she actually believes justifies lying about it for some “greater good”.
And think about it. If you genuinely believed your only child was in that extreme a situation, how would extreme would you go to save them?
That’s what makes people like OP so dangerous. They’re basically psychotic-time bombs waiting for someone or something to draw their attention and invoke their “righteous” judgment. And it takes one brief look at history to see that same self-righteousness reflected in the words of it’s greatest monsters.

I believe you can request a new social security number if you tell them your identity is being stolen by your mother. Even if she only threatened to abuse it, she doesn't need to know it without your permission.
On the upside, simply knowing your ss number can't give her your current address without her also using it to commit fraud. There's no simple way to use it to find you that would give her that information without violating some other law that she can be charged with.
She would have to call and trick someone using the number, because there's no public database that just lists that information.

    • @joshl6275
      @joshl6275 Před rokem

Narcissists operate at all times from the cognitive premise that they are the most special person in the universe and nothing they do is wrong. If there's a problem, the problem is obviously not them but you. The problem is always someone else. How could it not be? They are perfect, after all.
This is how the narcissist mind works. So they're completely bereft of any of the mental faculties necessary for normal emotional responses. They're just ghouls who prey on others to get what they want and given they lack a soul, all they have left is trying to fake it.
So they become experts at manipulating others--saying and doing all the right things to try and massage the outcomes they want out of others. But it inevitably fails because you really can't fake being an authentic human being. Eventually your mask slips and people see the ghoulish visage that sits behind it.
If you ever chance upon a narcissist, sneak away quietly under the cover of darkness. Don't tell them you're doing it. Don't tell them where you're going or why you're gone. Just slip away quietly into the night. And ghost. Because if a narcissist thinks you've turned on them, they will begin hatching schemes to destroy you. But if you leave without warning and leave no trace, then they can't do anything about it.
You see, deep down inside narcissists know they are con artists. The only control they have over others is the elaborate maze of deception and artifices of personality they have erected around them. Like Patrick Bateman from Americana Psycho--they live a lie hiding in plain sight, among unsuspecting normal people. Their greatest and deepest fear is that someone will find them out and then expose them to others. So narcissists will pre-empt their victims. They'll covertly sabotage their victim's reputation. Turn their friends and family against them. Try and get them fired or arrested. Spread fake rumours and lies about them. All kinds of stuff. All of it designed to protect their elaborate con from being exposed.
And meanwhile, if you're in the grasp of a narcissist and don't safely evacuate as soon as you can, they'll just continue strangling you with their gaslighting abusive behaviours and toxic manipulations. Which they don't see as being wrong at all. Because, remember, if there's a problem, then it's not them. They're never the problem. You're the problem. And what's more, they feel entitled to whatever you've got that they want. And they feel justified in doing whatever it takes to get what they want. Even if that means unapologetically stepping all over you. But to ensure your compliance and submission, they'll make sure to undermine and abuse you, so they know you're firmly under their control and they can do with you as they wish.
      Narcissists are the worst.

Unfortunately, too many therapist buy into the 'everyone has right and everyone has wrong in this situation' mindsets, failing to recognize that often someone, usually the narcissist, is completely in the wrong. This type of approach especially allows the narc to take advantage to show how everyone else is wrong and the narc is right, and for some reason the therapist is all too willing to then drop the 'both sides are to blame' mentality...

The older granddaughter's mum _also_ doesn't want OP associated with her. When both mothers of the children are in agreement, you know that OP is the actual problem. However, she _also_ believes that the older girl's mum doesn't have the capacity to care for her child 'due to cultural differences.'
I doubt OP had the good relationship with the 10-year-old that she believes. She likely saw her regularly for his custody time because Daivd lived with her and once he moved out, his custody time took place at his new home.

She just needs a psych ward for the rest of her life. There's no amount of therapy, no matter how professional, that will change a mind like hers. She's beyond help and the best course of action is keep her somewhere she can't hurt herself, her friends, her ex-family.

But like you said, she doesn't seem to have the part of her brain (or it just doesn't function how it's supposed to) that tell right from wrong. I don't think she knows what she's done is wrong, I think she genuinely believes that she's in the right, an honestly she can't be blamed for that because as messed up as the stuff she's done, she has no actual control over it.
It's like, yeah I'm pretty pissed at what she did to her own family, but I also feel pity because I've also been in situations that my mental health puts me in that I'd desperately like to have control over but don't.

I don't know what sort of backwards world Bea is living in, but that's what you're supposed to do when you apologize. You're supposed to apologize for your actions, not the way that the recipient feels. That's callous and mean. Sometimes you forget that people who’re actually insane aren’t fully aware of it, and then you get stories like these where she can’t see her wrong doings, apologises for them without sincerity and continues to do more wrongs. Clearly Bea caught right onto the manipulation that was happening which is why she wasn’t having any of it, also why the son moved out without saying anything. Why their entire family moved without saying anything, that Mother’s Day lunch was probably her last chance and she screwed it up with her backhanded compliment to her son while trashing his wife. She ruined this for herself because she couldn’t be any semblance of normal, I say this as someone who has their unstable moments

I had a old roommate (72) who was just as crazy as OP. Manipulative, narcissistic, psychopathic and a whole other host of crazy. She was a fake Christian too. Her own family saw very little of her and it was clear the daughter was keeping her at finger tips length. She was evicted from our house and left a whole notebook to psychotic ramblings wishing people in the house dead etc. she canceled her last rent check and cut all the lamp cords in her room before leaving. She stashed a moldy banana in the living room couch cushions. She cut the cord to another roommates iron she kept in the laundry room. She vandalized an antique painting in the living room and it was blamed on another problem roommate ( that's another story) and she hid and threw out a cushion to an antique chair in the house. She relished in creating drama and wasn't happy unless others were miserable. I can't imagine being THAT level of crazy to where you drive everyone away. It's insane how people are!
