  • Just another day on our off grid goat farm in central Portugal, Dad ploughs some fields ready for sowing seed to feed the goats before the rain comes.
We take down some shade netting now winter is here and we need to think of a better solution.
There's always jobs to do on a Portugal Homestead.

Thanks guys, i was hoping it might have rained again, if not in a day or so i will have to irrigate it.
As with most things out here they take time so poor Molly still doesn't know anything.
      Have a great week 🙂

Good job on getting in the Sorghum Sudan grass, look around if you can get some Yellow Blossom Sweet Clover, or any reasonable priced clover, to help with nitrogen fixing, and inter plant the clover in about a month. The clover will extend your grazing period over winter as well as fertilizing your sorghum and giving excess nitrogen for next year.

Another great video . All useful tips for us while we start our journey on preparing our land, from the shade netting to sowing so thank you very much. We even found an old goat bell yesterday while clearing the land 🐐. It's great to see a close bond between you all. Many happy returns to Sandra hope both you enjoyed the movie. I thought I parked next to your truck the other day in Castelo Branco but it was another family. Stay safe and best wishes to you all.

Excellent progress its always nice seeing the seed sown 👍 Lovely to see you briefly, Molly and mum, when we were looking round the village a week or so back and had stopped to enjoy the view of the barrage. Our quest is looking hopeful we may have found just the little Quinta we were searching for a little to the east of you and hope to start renovating by Christmas. We look forward to being able to be regular cheese customers 👌🤩

@@FontedaPipaPortugueseFarmLife I can imagine. I have 2 goats and they really can be hooligans. Mine just free-range as it's impossible to keep them in anywhere for long. I have managed to barricade my market garden and protect the fruit trees thankfully, otherwise they would eat everything in site! 😀

Hi Carlos, i would but the tree is the wrong side of the pole..... just my luck😄
I think we need to make it a solid structure, will stop the wind pulling on it and keep that area dry.

That's just bad training. If your cat is allowed to sit on kitchen tables and counters, then you are just opening yourself up to cats knocking lids off slow cookers and stealing your food. In 30 year's of being a cat owner, I've never had any cat stealing my food.
Sorry. My experience and opinion. You did ask.
