It takes 100 people earning an avg income and paying 25% of their income to cover the salaries of these 3 people alone, never mind all the support personel like clerks, dispatchers etc to take some guy to court for not paying a registration fee vs 1 persons paying about 0.03 % worth of income to cover the man’s registration fees.
Does anyone really think it makes sense to waste all that money and resources prosecuting something that could have been resolved by simply paying the fees on behalf of someone who couldn’t afford them?
It’s a sad society that would rather spend 10 000 times more to punish someone for not paying a bill than it would cost to just pay the bill on their behalf.

I’m wondering how these “Moorish Nationals” don’t ever stop to think about the fact that no other foreign nationals are driving around in vehicles without US registration and that they have to abide by US laws? There are foreign registered diplomats who enjoy diplomatic immunity and have special license plates, that’s the closest thing to this, but they can only the other hand be expelled from the country at any point if they’re suspected of a crime.

MANY states have laws that only require proof of ownership and ID, perhaps to avoid the whole Fifth Amendment argument about the government taking your private property being taken for public use without "just compensation." In others, you only need license, registration and insurance if you play to drive it away.
Where I live the vehicle must be registered and insured to be released from police impound. The registered owner must be present with proper ID but you can have another licensed driver drive the car away.
Trust me, it sucks. First you have to buy insurance. Head over to the DMV and pay to get the registration current. Then you to go to the police station or city hall to get a release form for the vehicle. Lastly, it's off to the tow yard where you pay the towing charge and a daily storage fee. It gets expensive quick and every day your vehicle is in impound it cost $60-$100. Lot's of people just lose their car because they can't come up with the money.
The cop used the wrong phase, "You are free to go", instead, "You are free to travel". Of course without the car.
I think those people should be investigated for possible terrorist activities.

Being retired nypd, my guess is that it’s for one of 2 things. He either was issued summonses in the past, didn’t pay them and had his license suspended (511) or he has a warrant out for his arrest for not paying summonses or showing up in court (or both).
It's almost sad that these creatures get sucked into, and believe, the nonsense they spout (almost 😂😂😂)
