  • In this video, we'll explain you the real meaning behind 21 dogs strangest behaviors and explain why dogs do these behaviors.
Why dogs kick when you scratch their belly.
This movement is an involuntary reaction called scratch reflex.
When you scratch a dog’s belly, you activate the nerves under the skin that are connected to their spinal cord. These nerves send a message to your dog’s leg muscles to kick and twitch in an attempt to get rid of an irritant.
Why dogs kick their feet after pooping.
By scratching the ground, your dog is releasing the pheromones located in the scent glands of its feet. This is the main way your dog marks its territory.
Why dogs drag their butts on the floor.
Your dog dragging their bottom on the ground, also known as Scooting, is almost always a sign that something is irritating your dog- like Infection, inflammation, or worms.
More often than not, this irritation has to do with anal sac problems. dogs have anal sacs located on both sides of their rear end.
    Why dogs hump.
In general, dogs hump something to establish their territory. Even a stuffed animal.
Both male and female dogs hump.
Why dogs poop along a north-south axis
After a two-year study involving 70 dogs, it was found that dogs disregard personal preference and prefer to poop facing the North-South magnetic axis.
Why Dogs Twitch in Their Sleep
Dogs dream during the REM stage of sleep, and those twitches are responses to whatever's happening in their dreams.
    Showing empathy
Dogs can sense when you are sad or upset. They show empathy to comfort you when you are in distress.
    Sleeping on your clothes
If your dog sleeps on your clothes or in your bed, it means they love you. Your clothing and bed have your scent on them and dogs always want to feel closer to you.
    Sitting on your feet
Dogs lay or sit on your feet as a sign of marking their territory.
Dogs also sit on your feet to show you affection, just as you would choose to sit next to a friend.
    Staring at you so intensely.
Dogs stare to get signals as to what is happening next.
Dogs also stare to manipulate their owners to get what they want. This is a common scenario with begging at the dinner table.
    Squinting Their Eyes
Dogs squint their eyes to indicate peaceful intentions. If your dog squint their eyes when they look at you, they are expressing their love and desire for your attention.
Rolling on their back in the grass.
Dogs roll in grass for a lot of reasons.
They could be scratching an itch, or attempting to change their own body scent. Another reason your dog may roll in the grass is to mark their territory or deposit their scent.
By rubbing their scent off on an area, like a carpet or a new dog bed, they are marking it as theirs.
    Hunching over
A hunched-over posture in dogs can be seen when they are fearful and feeling particularly vulnerable. By hunching over, dogs try to make themselves small.
Dogs also hunch over when they are abused, attacked, or scolded.
    Why dogs lick you.
Dogs lick you to show you affection and love. They may even want to groom you to show that they care about your well-being. Or they may simply enjoy the taste of your salty skin.
    Urine Marking
Some dogs scent mark by urinating small amounts on vertical surfaces. Both male and female dogs can urine mark. Dogs who aren’t neutered or sprayed are more likely to mark than those who are.
    Fuzzy Bagel Sleeping Position
If your dog tucks its paws beneath itself and curls up so that its head rests on its tail, it means that your dog might be trying to conserve body heat and provide protection to the fundamental parts of its body. It’s the most common sleeping position for animals in the wild, too, as it helps conserve warmth and protects the vital organs.
    Why dogs dig
Dogs dig in your yard for several different reasons. They may be burying toys or bones to keep them protected.
They may also dig to cool themselves off in a hot summer day. Pregnant dogs may dig a hole as a nesting instinct to make a home for her pups.
    Gifts
If your dog brings you a gift, like a shoe or their favorite toy, it means they love you. It also means your dog wants your attention.
    Why dogs trashing your furniture.
Chewing on a wide variety of objects in the house is probably the result of boredom or separation anxiety. Your dog probably needs more play, exercise and physical activity to work off some energy.
    Why dogs howl
Dogs howl to communicate, attract attention and announce their presence.
Dogs may also howl because they are responding to ambulance or police sirens. Believe it or not, these noises are on the same frequency level as their hearing.
    Why dogs yawn.
In dogs, yawning is a form of communication
Dogs yawn when they are feeling anxious, like when they are in a new environment or are surrounded by other dogs. You will see this behavior more often in puppies, when they are around unfamiliar dogs.
Dogs may also yawn when scolded by a human, or in other stress-inducing situations.

I found out I could do that for every video, including force-watch ads. Of course, with the newest update-at the time-they were keen to this oversight and "fixed" it.

Because they genuinely fail to relate. They fail to relate even to fellow humans, so what to expect 🥺 And then there's the education gap issues that we're all prone to. Dogs are like little children up to the age of 4 which never really grow further. Needing equally much education, care, medical care and guidance. And people underestimate that greatly.

    #13: Showing Empathy
    TLDR at end
My mom’s dog is extremely empathetic. I remember going outside when it was pouring outside and when I came back in soaked, he started trying to dry himself off (whenever he gets really wet, he tries to dry himself off with any blanket nearby. There’s one hanging off a leg rest-because my cat likes to poke my legs through the cracks-he tends to use. He does this before we can properly dry him with a towel...)
TLDR: Whenever he sees someone wet, he feels like he needs to get dry too. He’s feeling the discomfort that comes with being soaked as if it were his own, thus displaying empathy.
I like using this anecdote (along with scientific research, of course) to argue why animals feel emotions...because so many people still refuse the evidence...

I got a better one for you... people like to believe that we are the only species that is capable of comprehension and feeling / (better word) emotions... that only humans can feel love and empathy.. and why... because we are human... we are special... and everything else is inferior... people like to believe that it must be so and why because we are arrogant and self centered... once upon a time... people believed the earth was flat and they also looked up to the sun... realized it was moving and peopled also believed well... the sun must move around the earth... and so must the heavens and everything in the sky... they believed the earth must be the center of the universe as we are the center of everything... and why... because the earth has humans on it and we are special... it must be that way... and why... because we are arrogant and self centered... and people who didn't believe this got punished and often hung as this was what people once did... guess what... people were proven wrong... the earth was not flat... and earth is not the center of the heavens... and the earth with its "special" humans is not so special after all... as we are a small spot of dirt in a vast wondrous universe... and the earth moves around everything just like everything else..... when I was growing up... it was just being discovered that dolphins too showed love and empathy and was considered and thought to be the only other creature on the planet capable of doing this besides humans... umm... but aren't we supposed to be the only thing that can do this?? Oops... so that just proved we are not the only creatures... it is also often said that we are the only creatures thats capable of communicating... umm nope... apes can learn sign language and use this to communicate quite easily with other apes and with us humans...!!!! Oops humans again are NOT the only ones... umm I'm starting to see a pattern here.. aren't you?? Honestly I think its the human race which seems a little incapable of having the capacity to understand this easily... maybe as a species we aren't as smart as we think we are... people once claimed dogs only learn the sounds and tones of language but not the meaning... so even when you say come... and the dog comes to you its only responding to the tone of your voice and has learned to come to you when it hears that tone... but they can't understand language... as language is a human thing... and since humans are special it must be.... because us humans are arrogant.... . Question... simple... i say.. lets ask this... what is language?? I mean the simple workings of it... is not language nothing but tones and sounds we chose to represent something?? If I said to you over and over... pluckpluckpoopiebooboo
      Pluckpluckpoopiebooboo
And pointed to a tree... you would soon understand that gibberish means tree..
This IS language.. and communication.... and this is exactly what we are doing when we say come come come and teach the dog it means to come over to you... the simple fact the dog understands any sound that you make, means they understand language... period... language IS sounds and tones... and this alone already proved humans are not the only things that can be taught this... interestingly still enough recent studies have been proving that dogs do understand more than just a word here and there... they hooked up electrodes to dog's brains to monitor brain activity of the dog when it was being spoken to... and what they discovered is the activity is identical to human brain activity when humans were given the same tests... they saw the recognition in the dog's brain to words and sentences... they are discovering this through science... funny thing is my grandma told me she believed dogs could understand and comprehend the meaning words.... and she told me this more than 40 years ago... so in short... its people that I question in what they are capable of seeing and understanding... not dogs and other animals... ; )
Anyway... empathy and emotions and feelings... happy sad love this is all part of being alive and a living creature.... not part of just one arrogant human species.... its part of the physical nervous system and part of what allows life no matter what it is to function and survive as a species in entirety...

@@orangie8426 wow it must have taken so much time to write this :) You're soo right. I especially liked the way u explained 'language'..here are my thoughts...I think dogs can't talk with us only bcos their organs( mouth, vocal cords) are not yet developed. But they too have a way of expressing themselves. With their tail, eyes, body language (just as the video explains). Completely agree. We humans are not the only ones, or special ones in this world. Instead of being so selfish, we should try to understand animals, communicate with them better...and do what's good for nature. There is a 'fact' that dogs are incapable of experiencing secondary emotions..but almost all good owners know, dogs do feel such emotions like guilt, shame, love, thankfulness, jealousy etc. Some things just CAN'T be explained simply by science or logic. There are social, mental, emotional, even spiritual factors involved in case of animals as well. And it can't be explained just by a single statement or fact. We need to stop assuming that animals are not evolved and lack intelligence. "Dogs do speak, but only to those who know how to listen." -Orhon Pamuk

Dogs also sit on your feet for protection purposes. If they're a protective breed, they use that as a cue from you while they're watching the surrounding area. They can sense any uneasiness, or any slight adjustments that you make through your feet. My dog does this, especially in unknown areas or around unknown people. I've had family members test out the theory multiple times, and sure enough, he lunges after the attacker if they get too close or if I move a certain way (safely and controlled, no one has got hurt! He got many praises for being a good boy and reacting accordingly). They're putting themselves between you and any possible threat.

I was just thinking the same thing. My dogs yawn at nighttime on the couch right before bed too.

I work at a vet hospital and let me tell you - it’s true! Of course, just because your dogs yawns doesn’t mean it’s anxious. There are usually other signs to go along with it.

Maybe there could be another explanation. Like the yawning is showing comfort and gives others a signal that the surrounding is save to relax.

@@PandyJam Can't it be just because they're tired though? I notice my dog yawns really only in the A.M, A yawn and stretch to start the day?

Everyone knows all of these but man does it remind me of what a blessing having dogs in your family/pack is. I'd say it's the best decision and luckiest situation man ever made/went along with.

As for the "humping", I've seen "my" dogs do it as a straight up wrestling move, actually laying each other on the side during a fight, without actually humping. Two of the three here are Husky X White shepherd, and brother and sister, rescued from a kill- "shelter". When I gained their trust (which they had lost in humanity, and the process wasn't without actual blood sweat and tears), they started howling everytime I disappeared out of sight. The third rescue dog that joined later, she cannot howl, instead she starts barking at a really high pitch as soon as the others howl, and she stops as soon as they stop.

My sister had a dog who would howl at 1pm on the first Wednesday of every month during the monthly siren test. If he was outside he would sit up and his ears would perk up at the verbal warning just before the test. He was a good boy and a gentle giant of a rescue dog. Lived to over 10 and a half years :)

That's why I never let my Cocker Spaniel, Buddy out right after bathing him. He'd do the same thing. I think dogs don't like smelling clean or something. In fact, I once picked up an adorable, heavily matted stray dog, which was a white Cockapoo (Cocker/Poodle mix). I kept him for about a month until his owners claimed him from an ad I posted on Craigslist lol. I named him Buddy, but his real name was Skipper, with the nickname "Chongo" (Spanish for monkey). I was so sad he was claimed by a family (mom and dad with a five year old girl) because I already bonded with him. One day I took him for a walk in my neighborhood after bathing him. Near the end of the walk, he came across a dead frog or pile of poo and started rolling around on it.😂🤣 Anyway, when I took Skipper to the vet to see if he was micro chipped (which he wasn't), they told me, after checking out his beautiful, white teeth he's about two years old. Come to find out after his owners picked him up, he was ten years old and never been vaccinated or neutered! He had incredible amojnts of energy for a dog thay age! He's the reason I ended up getting my dog as an eleven week old puppy, from an ad on Craigslist. He is an alpha and thinks he can take on any pitbull!
