  • You probably have noticed some strange behavior from your dog.
There are many theories that explain some of the strange things dogs do.
So if you love your dog, you’ll want to check out our 12 reasons why your dog exhibits some strange behavior.
#1. Why dogs love sticking their heads out of an open car window while the car is moving.
Why dogs like to stick their heads out of an open car window. There are two reasons for this. The first is that dogs don’t like confined spaces, but that’s not the main reason. Dogs like to stick their heads out of moving cars to take in the endless world of smells.
#2. Why dogs sniff each other from behind.
Getting back to a dog’s sense of smell, it is about 10,000 to 100,000 times more sensitive than humans are.
There is a part of their nose that allows them to ignore the smell of feces. This is called the Jacobson’s organ - which also lets them smell the special glands in another dog’s rear end. This is more important than you might think.
Besides having a keen sense of smell, dogs also have glands in their rear end that release chemicals that tell a lot about their body to other dogs.
Dogs sniffing each other’s behinds is like humans shaking hands.
This is why a dog may also sniff your crotch, but don’t be alarmed - it’s just part of their strange behavior.
#3. Why dogs follow you into the bathroom.
The unofficial term for dogs that follow you to the bathroom is called “Velcro Dogs” And they always want to be attached to your side.
#4. Why dogs eat green grass.
what smart dog would start making a meal out of your front lawn?
If your dog has an upset stomach - they can’t really tell you about it. So they eat grass because they know it will help them throw up whatever is bothering their digestive tract.
a dog eating green grass is just their way of telling you they need to go to the vet for a checkup.
#5. Why dogs walk in circles before they lie down.
The behavior of walking in circles before a dog lies down goes way back to when dogs were first domesticated.
Your dog may also run in its sleep, probably thinking it’s chasing a tennis ball or a Frisbee. Animal experts don’t really know, but they believe dogs dream in the REM stage of their sleep and feel comfortable acting out whatever activity they think they are doing.
#6. Why dogs chase their tail.
You may ask yourself, why does my dog chase its tail?
And you wouldn’t be the only one. It starts with being a puppy. In reality, a dog raised by humans doesn’t really know that they aren’t one of the people in your family.
#7. Why dogs stick out their tongues and start panting.
Dogs don’t have the same kinds of sweat glands that humans do. In fact, their cooling-off system is very ineffective. So the way they cool off is much different. They reduce the temperature of their bodies by using their mouth and tongue to exchange the hot air in their lungs for the cooler air outside.
By sticking out their tongue and panting, they use the evaporation of moisture to draw the cooler air in.
#8. Why dogs lean on you for no reason.
Your dog will lean on you because it wants your attention in a very affectionate way. And if you have a large breed of dog, they may put their full body weight on you.
Dogs also have an incredible auditory perception - a fancy word for unbelievable hearing.
#9. Why dogs jump on guests.
Puppies start jumping early in life because they greet older dogs by hopping up and licking their faces. This behavior can be trained-out of dogs, but generally speaking, unless you have the time to do it, the jumping up is your dog’s way of saying, “I like you,” to your guests. It’s their way of showing affection to the people you invite into your home.
#10. Why dogs like to lick your face.
Licking the face is part of the same behavior that goes along with dogs jumping on people in an affectionate way. dogs and humans have about the same amount of bacteria in their mouths, you’re not going to catch any bacteria from a dog that will affect you.
You’re much more likely to catch a virus from kissing another human being.
Another reason why dogs like to lick your face is that they like the taste of the sweat or oil on your face.
#11. Why dogs tilt their heads as if they are listening to you.
It’s a survival instinct. Dogs prick up their ears so that they can sense how far unknown danger is away from them. And many dogs have floppy ears - so they tilt their head to make sure they can pinpoint where the unfamiliar sound is coming from. This is why many dogs hide from thunder. Or if they are getting a scolding for chewing on a brand new pair of shoes.
now let’s talk about some of the strange things that dogs like to eat.
#12. Why dogs eat other animals' feces.
This is a strange dog behavior that starts as a puppy. a mother dog will eat the puppy’s feces to keep their new home clean.
It’s nature’s way of keeping the puppies free from disease and a mother’s way of protecting her young.

Your dog follows you to the bathroom because in a pack in nature you gotta watch each others back while vulnerable. Your dog is watching your 6 so you don't get eaten by a scary thing. This is also why they react the way they do to visitors at the door as beta they are alerting alpha (you) to an intruder to the den.

I think the “follows you into the bathroom” thing is also a kind of innate survival instinct.
Dogs have pack mentality, which means < the pack protects/defends/guards me, therefore I will do the same > so they will act according to that.
When are you vulnerable? When you are following natures call. Given, at home there will likely be no enemies approaching you (especially since it’s the territory their “pack” controls) when you are in the bathroom but instincts are instincts.

All my own dogs I've had are gone in heaven. And my cat's too I have one cat he is 9 years old very smart cat very protective and loving and I know he understands me I taught him him to sit for his treats. And the funny thing about him is he growls when he hears the slightest little noise and the hair on the back of his butt stands up and her walk around looking stalking my girlfriend doesn't like him she had to feed him one time when I went away and he wouldn't let her go downstairs he got up on two legs and hissed and growled at her but he didn't know her either she nicknamed him ninja cat they can feel when someone is sick or dying they know something isn't right with us both cats and dogs 🤣😅.😪😔💖🤗🤗💖💖💖👍

The "fact" about the tiling head is also wrong. Dog tilt head so they can localize the source of a sound (I think smarter everyday did a video on it).
Like us, dog hear in stereo; they can tell if sound is coming from left or right, and their brain can infer if a sound comes from the front or back ; but unlike us their brain cannot infer if a sound comes from up or down (this demands a lot of brain power), so they tilt their head to locate the source in the 3 dimensions.

Mine eats grass when she has an upset stomach - She never throws up though. The grass somehow works on her stomach, and apparentely she knows because she will wake me up in the night, running down to the door and I'm always thinking "Oh oh, she has to poop!" - So I run.. Very fast. And then she just act like a goat, eating the garden, lol.

If I am sitting, he sleeps in my lap, he follows me to the bathroom, kitchen, car, even if I just need to take 3 steps to pick something up, he will wake up, get up and follow me those 3 steps.
