Also one correction in her statements is needed. There were Nestorians in Kerala even before the arrival of the Portugese in the northern Travancore region centered around Kodungalloor port ! Please get your facts correct Sara Knight ! There needs to be another correction in what Sara Knight said. When all these dramas were going on from the 16th century CE onwards in the northern Travancore belt in the regions centered around Kodungalloor port, such as Angamali, Udayamperoor etc, the Southern Travancore regions centered around the Kollam port were remained mostly uneventful and they remained Jacobite up until now. Hence you do not see any Chaldean or the Nestorian ( Church of the East) or Syro-malabar churches in the southern Travancore belt. Also few isolated Syro-malabar churches you see in the southern Travancore belt these days are of very recent origin because of the migrant government employees etc from northern Travancore belt. Also another statement by Sara Knight that there were no other type of churches in Kerala before the arrival of the Portugese is also wrong. There was a very small community of Latin catholics in Kollam town even before the Portugese came to Kerala and the Pope had set up a diocese ( Asia's first Roman diocese) and had also appointed a bishop for the same and the same is recorded in history.

Sara Knight, the Antiochene or the Jacobite bishops Mar Sabore and Mar Aphroth along with the spice trader and Astronomer Marwan Sapir Iso along with several families came to Kollam from Edessa/ Nineveh in 823 AD and not 825 AD as mentioned by you. They built the first church ever built in the Kerala region and recorded in history , the Tharissapally church at Thevally in Kollam in 824 AD and the same can be inferred from recordrd history through the Tharissapally chepped given by the Venad ruler Ayyan Adikal Thiruvadikal in 849 AD to these migrant christian orthodox community. In commemoration of the setting up of the church in 824 AD , the Kollavarsham was started by Marwan Sapir Iso with 17th Aug 824 CE. as 1 Chingom of 1 Kollavarsham year from which we get the date of consecration of the Tharissapally church at Kollam as 17th Aug. 824 CE.

When You go through the history of the ancient Suriyani Sabha in Malankara, you will have a grasp on the topics. Roman Catholic destroyed the ancient Suriyani liturgy and persecuted Suriyani believers on the arrival of Vasckodigama. Roman catholic Church surfaced in Malankara with the arrival of Vasckodigama. Prior to this there was only one Sabha i.e. Suriyani Sabha in Malankara.

The church of antioch was present in Kerala since ancient times.. Mor Sabor, Mor Aphroth, etc were bishops from antioch who visited Kerala.. It is possible that the antioch faction coexisted with the Manichaens and Nestorians .. But unfortunately, a narrative has been created by the dominant Syro Malabar and Orthodox churches that Antioch connection only came after 17th century..

East Syriac litturgy was written by adai and Mari who were disciples of St Thomas. Malankara nasranis are in communion with Persian church from early centuries. Even knai thoma is coming from persian church. If u analyse without any prejudice, u can understand from early writings and was part of Kerala history..Moreover tharisapalli plates given to mar sabhor and proth contain persian script and still preserved with malankara orthodox church and marthoma Syrian church. All these churches, including syromalbar church recognise this. Church built at akaparambu by mar sabhor and proth now with Jacobite church, and they only claimed bishops were from West Syriac or Antioch litturgy and that's only a current happening. When churches were unified they didn't have that opinion. Portuguese also recognised them as assyrian or east Syriac bishops and called them nestorian. Moreover Abho or sabhor is buried at thevallakkara orthodox church. Antiochian bishops came to Kerala only after koonan cross, since we didn't any bishops from persian church due to its degradation since we don't want to continue latinisation of our churches. First marthoma was ordained by 12 priests because portuguese not allow any east Syriac bishops for along time. Later bishop from Antioch come and give recognition to this and slowly west Syriac become our litturgy..

The modern Vatican headquatered catholic church consists of 24 independent churches and the Latin church is one among them and is also the biggest church with about more than 100 crore members. The other 23 churches number together about a crore or so members only and they all were formed by the Latin church by splitting the Orthodox churches either the Antiochene ( syro-malankara and the Syro-malabar in Kerala or the syriac catholic church of the middle east ) or the Greek orthodox church or the Coptic church or the Nestorian /Church of the East ( eg. Chaldean catholic) in different countries ! This cunning and dirty habits of the Latin church continues even today in this 21st century and the christians need to be aware of that !. Also one correction in her statements is needed. There were Nestorians in Kerala even before the arrival of the Portugese in the northern Travancore region centered around Kodungalloor port ! Please get your facts correct Sara Knight !
There needs to be another correction in what Sara Knight said. When all these dramas were going on from the 16th century CE onwards in the northern Travancore belt in the regions centered around Kodungalloor port, such as Angamali, Udayamperoor etc, the Southern Travancore regions centered around the Kollam port were remained mostly uneventful and they remained Jacobite up until now. Hence you do not see any Chaldean or the Nestorian ( Church of the East) or Syro-malabar churches in the southern Travancore belt. Also few isolated Syro-malabar churches you see in the southern Travancore belt these days are of very recent origin because of the migrant government employees etc from northern Travancore belt.
Also another statement by Sara Knight that there were no other type of churches in Kerala before the arrival of the Portugese is also wrong. There was a very small community of Latin catholics in Kollam town even before the Portugese came to Kerala and the Pope had set up a diocese ( Asia's first Roman diocese) and had also appointed a bishop for the same and the same is recorded in history.

Sara Knight, the Antiochene or the Jacobite bishops Mar Sabore and Mar Aphroth along with the spice trader and Astronomer Marwan Sapir Iso along with several families came to Kollam from Edessa/ Nineveh in 823 AD and not 825 AD as mentioned by you. They built the first church ever built in the Kerala region and recorded in history , the Tharissapally church at Thevally in Kollam in 824 AD and the same can be inferred from recordrd history through the Tharissapally chepped given by the Venad ruler Ayyan Adikal Thiruvadikal in 849 AD to these migrant christian orthodox community. In commemoration of the setting up of the church in 824 AD , the Kollavarsham was started by Marwan Sapir Iso with 17th Aug 824 CE. as 1 Chingom of 1 Kollavarsham year from which we get the date of consecration of the Tharissapally church at Kollam as 17th Aug. 824 CE.
you people are creating new history, these bishops used east Syriac litturgy of church of east of Persia . This is the history by mainstream historians.. they are not definitely antiochian bishops. Antioch bishops coming after only 17th century..

The oath was taken to reaffirm the faith , allegiance, solidarity with Antiochan Patrickeses. Antiochan Sabha existed in Malankara prior to 17th century.

What proof you have to state for sure that they used the "Church of the East" or the Nestorian liturgy only ? !

@@gf29838 How did you know Antiochan Bishop came in Kerala after 17th century. Antiochan liturgy and traditions existed in Malankara Suriyani Sabha long back. When You go through the history of the ancient Suriyani Sabha in Malankara, you will have a grasp on the topics. Roman Catholic destroyed the ancient Suriyani liturgy and persecuted Suriyani believers on the arrival of Vasckodigama. Roman catholic Church surfaced in Malankara with the arrival of Vasckodigama. Prior to this there was only one Sabha i.e. Suriyani Sabha in Malankara.
Kaldaya church is one of the most important churches in India. Originally this church is from Iran and the Iraqu Orthodox Church and Marthoma first came to India with these people. Also Marthoma Cross belonged to them . Somewhere History is missing? ❤😂

The church of antioch was present in Kerala since ancient times.. Mor Sabor, Mor Aphroth, etc were bishops from antioch who visited Kerala.. It is possible that the antioch faction coexisted with the Manichaens and Nestorians .. But unfortunately, a narrative has been created by the dominant Syro Malabar and Orthodox churches that Antioch connection only came after 17th century..
This is not created by syromalabar and orthodox church..but told by other historians..

@@aj9969 This is not case of denial. These bishops were from nineveh that was part of Persian church, they only established kadmattomm church, thevalakkara church etc,. East Syriac litturgy was written by adai and Mari who were disciples of St Thomas. Malankara nasranis are in communion with Persian church from early centuries. Even knai thoma is coming from persian church. If u analyse without any prejudice, u can understand from early writings and was part of Kerala history..Moreover tharisapalli plates given to mar sabhor and proth contain persian script and still preserved with malankara orthodox church and marthoma Syrian church. All these churches, including syromalbar church recognise this. Church built at akaparambu by mar sabhor and proth now with Jacobite church, and they only claimed bishops were from West Syriac or Antioch litturgy and that's only a current happening. When churches were unified they didn't have that opinion. Portuguese also recognised them as assyrian or east Syriac bishops and called them nestorian. Moreover Abho or sabhor is buried at thevallakkara orthodox church. Antiochian bishops came to Kerala only after koonan cross, since we didn't any bishops from persian church due to its degradation since we don't want to continue latinisation of our churches. First marthoma was ordained by 12 priests because portuguese not allow any east Syriac bishops for along time. Later bishop from Antioch come and give recognition to this and slowly west Syriac become our litturgy..
