2024 Toyota Tacoma TRAILHUNTER - 1st HUNT

- The 2024 Toyota Tacoma Trailhunter is designed with serious overlanding and off-road enthusiasts in mind. With its collaboration with ARB and the inclusion of features like OME shocks, steel rear bumper, recovery points, bed utility bar, and off-road enhancements, it offers a factory-developed overlanding experience.
The additional ground clearance provided by the OME shocks and 33-inch Goodyear tires, along with the protection features like rock rails and skid plates, make it well-suited for off-the-grid adventures. The integrated lighting, including the 20-inch LED light bar and scene lights, adds to its functionality in low-light conditions.
Furthermore, the presence of an inverter, 12V and USB outlets, and pre-wired accessory switches on the dashboard demonstrate Toyota’s commitment to providing a well-equipped overlanding vehicle. The combination of these features makes the Trailhunter an attractive option for those seeking adventure in a capable and factory-supported off-road vehicle.

I don't care about the 0 to 60, but I do love Toyota's mpg, durability and simplicity !!!
Nah!
So sick. Can’t wait to get my hands on one.
Very nice looking truck. I really like the front end and lights. Let's see if the price hits that sweet spot.
We shall see

Wow I cant believe I just ran across this! That looks amazing! I just wonder when you can start building and pricing this out? Can you put a bed cover on with the bed side rail attachment?
Great question with the bed cover. You have side lights at the top of the bed so it may cover them up.

Does not look amazing!
Why doesn't this come with 35s and a front locker?
Haha Dave called it a trail master. I’m kidding I’m kidding. Great video and the trail hunter is awesome!
I do stumble over Trailhunter and master for some silly reason
@@AllTerrainNation it's all good, i wanted to point it out as well lol
Finally the trail hunter in short bed! Looks so much better imo
We agree!
This was my pick if i couldn't get a Badlands. Solid rig.
I really like these..my only concern is will taller driver be able to fit comfortably. I'm 6'7" and hoping that I will be able to fit.
There is more room verses the last gen for taller drivers
Anyone 6'5 or higher needs a full size truck, gg
Doesnt matter how good it is if is expensive and dealers will have crazy mark ups!. Also, I learned that some parts of the country have a distributor that charges a fee on top of MSRP.
Having an issue with the composite bed on my 21 ....bolt on the passanger front of the bed came loose. Apparently its an issue since 2015....i wonder if they fixed it
I haven't had any issues and this comment is the first I've heard of it
@benjaminrankin9065 there is a thread on Tacoma world
No one can beat Toyota quality and resale value
Can’t wait to see the price.
Soon..
Nice review. Really like it. Driving a ‘15 F-150 now with the 6.5’ bed.
Any mention of how 4’ wide sheets of plywood fit in the back? Would they lay flat on the bed between the wheel wells or would they have to lay on top like the JT Gladiator does? Thanks.
A sheet of plywood should fit fine. I would think it will ride on inner fenders
60,000 plus for that I would imagine? Plus higher interest rates.
Probably worse. Affordable vehicles are a luxury.
60k plus 10k markup at the minimum.
I love Toyotas and their reliability. But for $55k I could buy a GMC sierra 3500 crew cab long bed. Recent Toyotas have seen a decline in reliability. Might as well gamble with GMC 😂
A 2023 at MSRP TRD goes for like $41, but Toyota has the worse mark ups.
I hate when Toyota advertises the new price, all for greedy stealerships to say "not happening folks, what ever Toyota decides to sell it for, we will add $20k mark up, with a 10% interest since fools will pay for it."
@@davidzavala337
You got that right! Idiots will keep paying that crazy ass markups.
Interior has a lot more going on than my canyon AT4X. Don't like the small camera screen in the GMC. This tacoma was definitely more thought out
Between this and the Frontier they would probably be my only options. No need for a full-size truck these days.
This is better
Yes I need a truck that fits in my garage

@@seymorefact4333 that being said I work for Nissan and we build a lot of them in Tennessee. From the ground up also sir. None of that just assembled crap.
Tom trim frontier is like 20k cheaper than this will be lol
Beautiful truck. I bet this will start around 58-60k MSRP plus a 10k+ markup from Toyota dealerships no thanks.
Nice review. Does anyone know what msrp will be in this model as is ?? Cheers
Looks great, now get the 2024,s to the dealership so we can test drive them. Thanks
Is there still a standard trans option?
They will offer a manual in select truck trims
Dave, did you do a seat check ? LOL
Cannot wait to see the price, lol!! That will price must people out i bet!
"tell us about the back seat....... its nice" well im sold
where is the review or comments/questions about the rear seat space? can you get a 6 ft bed withh a 4 door?
We had limited time and sadly couldn't hit every part of the truck. We will have a 1st drive as soon as Toyota allows them
Any idea what the mpg would be in this beauty??
Nothings official yet but 1st drives are coming very soon
I see a lot good things for Toyota Truck new chief engineer thank God finally
Wow it has Lt Dan back seats
Where was that Toyota built?
Mexico
Beauty truck …… a lot of ZR2 influenced design in this taco
That's all cool, but what's the sticker on that thing?
We will find out soon
This is going to really boost ZR2 sales
might
This trail hunter probably costs around $60000 dollars 💵! If you have money, that’s great ! I just keep my 2023 TRD off road 4x4 !
I guess the only bad thing about the higher air intake along the A-Pillar is it might impede mounting a nice pair of ditch lights in that pillar location.
there are brackets you can buy to mount in the same location but allows it to be ahead of the air-intakes
Still do not understand why they bothered with a motorized tailgate. Just make it light weight, give us the cost savings, and replacement savings. I dislike waiting the extra second or 2 for those automated doors to open. Almost wonder if it's better to just buy the offroad version and build it up with what you want vs. the extra stuff as you break things.
I will not disagree about the tailgate. Its cool but with the Trailhunter being a very off road focus truck I would rather have the ole dependable manual gate
How are people not disappointed, its just a smaller Tundra?
Games changed alright. $70k for a Tacoma. Sheesh. The base Off Road will be the hot seller in the new gen Tacoma.
Really like the new "Trailmaster".
lol
Is that a 5 or 6 foot bed? Looks like 5. But the trailhunter was 6 foot...but it looks like 5...
This one was 5’
My one major complaint besides the hybrid 4 turbo....is why did Toyota not add wheel travel but instead they just added offset to the wheels? This is a big miss imo for a dedicated offroader like this and the TRD pro. It will steer buyers to trucks like the ZR2 or Ranger raptor if the pricing is close.
yeah, if it had anything close to the travel numebrs of the ranger raptor, it would be a VERY serious contender. now it just looks cool without the capability.
Damn truck with those add ons is going tobe over 60 grand plus markups
Wooow..very nice…best out there.
You had perfect counters for the marketing bs. Very well done! These marketing budgets need to start shrinking. V6 power in a 4 cylinder. Haha! Loved that counter. It should have had a V6. I honestly might be ordering oneif it did. I have a 2024 Bronco on order currently but not married to it.
The difference in low end torque in the turbo 4 spanks the V6 by 2 seconds 0 to 60 as well as fuel economy. Everyone who drives it is blown away by its performance.
I did see a car show prototype street Tacoma with a twin turbo 3.0 V6 with 421 HP on utube in the Toyota display.
The V6 is a dog along with the horrible transmission. The new gen will kill it in every category. Sure it is $5-10k more than before, but you are buying more technology and features.
Perfect thing to buy, during inflation 🤣
Truck is great except... I hope they make the snorkel "optional".
I have a 2023 Tacoma TRD Pro. I bought it knowing I would have buyers regret with the new modernized models coming for 2024. Also found one in the spec I wanted and $2000 under MSRP given it had 2000kms on it.
The idea is to drive it for 2-3 years and trade hoping by then the bug will be out of the new models and the unknowns about the turbo 4 will be known. I also have no interest in lining up to be completely abused by Toyota dealers and their markups adding rust proofing, extended warranty, adding every aftermarket products to come up with a way to increase the cost by $10000 or more.
I actually said to myself that I would never buy from Toyota again if I had to buy through a dealership experience for the above reasons.
Really hoping in 2-3 years time the dealers will respect 10 time repeat customers rather then treating guys like me as an annoyance for wanting to be treated fairly and honestly.
You have the last model year of the “tried and true” version of the truck. I’m sure people will want “the old engine” and might even become sought after
bro acting like he talking to the ceo of the company
I’m pretty sure I know who I’m talking with. Toyota trucks PR and engineering but thank you for watching
Next time maybe let the person being interviewed talk and explain instead of you interjecting your knowledge of the vehicle.
I would bet that this model will be priced around $65k USA dollars. Not including the dealer markups
You’re on the good stuff
Probably more like 53k to 55k loaded
As an average joe, i cant afford a full size, but I could afford a TRD OFFROAD, but darn dealers and their mark ups, is insane! They will priced me out of it
No leaf spring, no v6! Is this even a real truck?!
Giant iPhone like Tundra.
Glad got my 2022 tacoma. I wish they would just go back to 4.0 like 4 runner instead of 3.5 in 3rd gen.
It’s hard to see Toyota going for a modern route. We want the old school and ancient feel.
Going to buy the 2024 4 runner before they remodel that.
I hope they make these in other colors.
Pro is a better option. All the crap the TH comes with is bolt on, and can be had cheaper than the difference in cost. And who gets baby poo brown metallic? Looks dumb unless its in DIRECT mid day summer glaring bright sunlight.
4 cs 1 turbo 😮 why not 6 cs twin turbo ?
The bent sheetmetal thingamabob on the bed behind the cab is about the cheesiest thing I have ever seen....lol
Never opened the hood seems like they don’t want to talk about the engine or the extra battery was thinking about buying one never had a Toyota heard good things about them but the hybrid is not anything I want just seems like it could be very expensive to maintain just bought a new lithium battery for my boat $700 what would it cost to replace the one in that truck
We received limited time with the truck and our focus was on other parts of the truck. Check out our friends at @GT:Garage for a detailed look under the hood
"Trail Hunter" boys.
The paint color is interesting. I can't see spending $60 to $70k on on a 4cy to take offroad.
Frontier will have fewer issues
Nice truck but no way am I paying $70k for this after markups 😂
Why no front locker on this thing. No one asking that question?
Its been asked and Toyota claims the crawl control works better than the front locker
No rear leg room still
They are going to be like unicorns . Toyota and Honda lots are pretty empty.
4 cylinder turbo only? I'm out.
Yeah I’m probably going to downsize from the tundra to a Tacoma
You will feel at home in the smaller truck
Perfect midsize truck.
I have a 22 Tundra. Still skeptical that the backseat will comfortably fit a bad seat for a child. Will have to wait and see!
I love the Trailhunter concept but gawd that color and those wheels are awful. It looks like a giant bronzed bathroom fixture. I hope they have some better colors.
Wait what? No river? Wtf?
I seen a 2023 gmc canyon at4x for $72,000.. this thing going to be $70k+ all day long..
Those back doors look ridiculous. They doesnt look proportionate at all.
Probably $70k?
I hope around the late 50s
Since the Hawaii debut till now this is taking a long time to get to the media drives, not even mentioning how long it will be until they hit dealer lots. Why did they choose this slow as molasses roll out? We’re probably another 45 days out until the drive reviews. Really silly.
Im hearing drives in Nov
@@AllTerrainNation right, which like I said is another 45 days out probably
The TRD's will be pushing 65k to start. 😢
Rumours this is going to be north of $70K in Canada 🙄🙄🙄
Yikes
I sell cars for Jim Shorkey Kia in Wexford PA. Jim Shorkey also owns a Toyota dealership. I already have my name on the next 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro in black (either standard or automatic) for $500 under factory invoice!
Pro is only AT
trailmaster? Trailhunter?
Yeah I know lol
gimmie
love your trucks, but not the dealers you work with.
I had this discussion with them. They understand the issue but sadly once they sell the truck to the dealer..
You probably don't even realize this, but you two were standing in front of the truck the whole time, never once allowing the viewer an unobstructed view.
I drive a 2022 4Runner TRD Pro and am a long time Toyota fan, but I gotta say this truck looks hideous. I think the Colorado ZR2 Bison (probably about the same price) looks so much better and much more capable. Hell, I even think the Ranger Raptor looks better than this truck. Should be a fun year in 2024 with these OEMs stepping up their games.
And what's up with the bed rack? People will just take it right off to mount their rooftent/camper. Not sure why Toyota went with that design.
I think it’s an option
Doubt you have a pro
They took the fun away from creating your own build. Either this idea will flop or win.
You’re right, very Americanized Toyota product, not very reliable drivetrain. Why not a bullet proof V6? Or even better, a proper diesel with manual transmission?
EPA is killing all of the larger engines sadly..
@@AllTerrainNation correct. Maybe Toyota is not financing politicians campaigns because Ford is. Ford got the 7 liters gasoline, 6.7 liters diesels and so on.
You sound like a TOYOTA CHEERLEADER! Turbo charged 4 cylinder what’s great about that ?
Better fuel economy, less emissions for starters.
Lower reliability. I bought a 23 because a truck should not have a 4cyl. I didn’t mean to insult you, but I can understand why anyone who traditionally goes to Toyota for reliability would want a four-cylinder turbo charged engine. Sorry if I came across harsh.
You should have asked this guy why they have made the back seat so tight that you hardly have any legroom. And if the driver is tall and pushes the seat back there is no chance you can get in the back seat and sit reasonably comfortable. Absolutely awful to the point of being a stupid design.
Get the 23s while you can people
How come u didn't ask why toyota did not put an Aircon Vent for the back seat??? Whyyy? Why???? 😢..i will be carrying kids and people the back seat!
We had limited time with the truck and wanted to get as much as we could with the rep. Fingers crossed we get more time with it
Personally factory “finished” trucks are not appealing to me. I have a 23 Taco Trail and build it up makes a better truck
I agree you can build it to your tastes and needs but not everyone has that skill.. This truck is for that customer
TUNDRA IS THE BEST
Trail master??????, I know is trail hunter bud.
Ever mixed up words? It happens
back is too small
No regular V6 option......total FAIL by Toyota.
And listen to that growl of that 4cyl beast of an engine! Not. They didn’t even want to start it up. Lame
I mean I could have asked them to but I would have gotten the same comment.
Screw the Trailhunter. Give me an SR5 in a video.
Press trips are coming up
Trail Master 🤦🏼♂️ Also the Tundra hybrid motor is hot garbage
Get a third gen and spend the extra money on building it and it will be way better than this thing.
Just got one. What would a guy start with?
@@robertsnow9328shocks
Both solid rigs...but 4th is better
Automatic transmission❤ . Go to SE Asia, poorer nations all manual transmission Toyota. Cheaper to produce.
Looks like they copied the Colorado except for that lazy design of the screen, looks like someone said just glue an ipad to the dash
I hope none sell, nobody should pay 55000----60000 for a truck the 4cyl will never last , all the 2023 resale we be higher withe the v6 that will last 300000 miles , all these reviews i think toyota is paying you
As an Auto Journalist I report on current news. I can assure you Toyota hasnt given us one dime but thank you for checking the video out.
They will sell no matter how much we bitch about the price. This is the price Toyota set, if we don’t like it, don’t buy it. Simple as that.
Trailmaster lol
Yeah yeah

@@AllTerrainNation LOL... Mexico part of N. America. But, NOT MADE IN USA. Tacoma was made in Texas! are manufactures embarrassed to say Made in Mexico?
@@seymorefact4333yes the truck is built in Mexico. The North American part is all PR talk. Toyota moved production fully to the new plant so they could build Tundra and Sequoia in the Texas plant. The Texas plant ran out of room for both Tundra and Tacoma.
@@seymorefact4333not sure where you’re getting your info from but I believe it’s Baja California(which yes is still Mexico) but not DEEP in Mexico like Guanajuato. Is built in Tijuana México, I live nearby.
