The song was originally written as entrance music for a Boxer (one of the Klitschko-Brothers - but don't remember which one) but ultimately turned down so the band instead decided to incorporate it into their 2001 Album Mutter (Mother).
Analyzing the song with that in mind and all the descriptions about the sun barreling down on your upper body until you lose balance suddenly makes perfect sense, once you've come to realize the sun is actually Klitschko's fists hammering down on you.

Nice catch with the slow-motion with Till's singing. They shot that sequence while playing the song in super-slow. Check the making-of video they made back then.
Few details:
1) The "sun" in the lyrics is a metaphor for the force coming from a punch, as it was written for one of the Klitschko brothers as an entry song back in the year 2000. Once you realize the boxing context, it makes more sense.
2) The crew used some of the same filming techniques as Peter Jackson did in Lord of the Rings to create the forced perspective illusion. This happened simultaneously with the filming in New Zealand before the release of Fellowship of the Ring, so they weren't inspired by those movies in that regard.
3) The relation between the song title and the fairy tale of Snow White is not coming from the Disney version, but from the original tale by the Grimm brothers, where the dwarves deny the prince the possibility to take her from them by explaining that she is their sunshine, showing their addiction to her presence. While she in this clip has her own addiction related to the gold that they're mining.
4) The end is actually quite sinister, since her death to some extent releases them of their addiction to her, and the end of the forced labour connected to it, but her resurrection shows that they will never be rid of her, which is related to the last chorus, where it says "Und wird nie vom Himmel fallen" (Translation: "And will never fall from heaven").
The Bassist, Oliver Riedel, got the idea for the snow white thing when he was watching the movie while listening to the song.
The lyrics and the scene at 4:57 is great. But because it's on different language I didn't notice this so much time. "One, here comes the sun" - And at that moment a Snow White opens the door and enters the room.
Can't get more (industrial) metal than this.
You should check out behind the scenes/making of some of their videos. it's quite amazing to see it just adds lot more insight and depth to the band and music and I think Joey will enjoy it even more being a videographer. ❤👍

Looking at the lyrics, this song does not seem like much. The rhythms, the dynamic changes, the hook melody, and even the repetitiveness make it special. For the live performance of Sonne they pull out all the stops, fire all the pyro at once multiple times through every chorus. You feel the heat of the sunfire that could bring you down, if it was a little too close. You scream at the sky, count down, all together, to the respite of the next verse. It's very immersive.

@Exodon2020 just speculating, just by substituting "Sonne" (sun) with "Faust" (fist), you get a almost dead on boxer introduction song.
I guess the original lyrics were suited towards Vitalij, as the line "Hier kommt die Faust" (Here comes the fist) suddenly makes much more
sense when you know that his ringside nickname is "Dr. Eisenfaust" (Dr. Ironfist). The ringside nickname of his younger brother Wolodymyr
is "Dr. Stahlhammer" (Dr. Steelhammer).
And by the way: both Klychkó brothers actually have a real doctorate in sports sciences.
AFAIK Witalij presented his thesis at the german University of the Federal Armed Forces Hamburg (Bundeswehr-Hochschule in Hamburg) in 2001.

I have often watched Germany and always find new props or references to older Rammstein videos.
Interpretation:
Snow White is the center of life for the dwarfs and that's why they work for her every day to get the gold out of the tunnel
and because Snow White is the center of the dwarfs' lives, she can also be referred to as the sun, because "the sun is the biggest star of all" is sung. and the dwarves' lives revolve around Snow White, namely the sun of the dwarves

The music (without lyrics) was originally written for a boxer's entrance on the ring but was rejected. Rammstein recycled the project. The original video clip was about nuclear war: the band members are sitting in the cockpit of the Enola Gay bomber, on their way to Hiroshima. To the japanese survivors, the nuclear blast was described as brighter than ten thousand suns. Here comes the Sun = we are bringing nuclear fire to your city. They count from 1 to ten, from the moment the nuke is dropped from the plane to the moment it explodes (in real life it was 43 seconds.)
The light will burn your face and chest through your fingers, this Sun will not go down tonight! The lyrics make perfect sense.
The video clip was never made, at secon thought Rammstein was afraid to offend the survivors.
Woman is indeed Snowhite and story of video is that she is abusing dwarves both mentally and physically as they work their arse in mines to get gold, to which (as later shown) she is literally addicted (as they just love her unconditionally).
Note that her likeness is supposed to be closer to original (Snowhite was not invented by Disney, but is originally a German fairytale, hence the small differences compared to animated counterpart).
Later as she overdoses herself they still keep loving her despite knowing that abuse has ended and glass coffin here is meant to represent this.
This video is supposed to be essentially a midfinger to gold digger chick archetype (some things never change, eh? We still have em 20 years after). There is NO CGI in it at all..everything was done using traditional optical tricks and techniques, something Hollywood has long forgotten.
Actress Yulia Stepanova (yes, she is Russian, not German) playing Snowhite was inserted in post production as she was according to available info not even present on set when dwarf portion of video was filmed. Body double provided stand-in for her in scenes where Snowhite interracts with dwarves.
2001 and before Lord of the Rings came out which would be the next best use of forced aspect techniques. Sonne video was released in January of 2001 and Rings December. Makes me wonder if they were able to get help from someone who worked on Lord of the Rings?
