Not gonna lie Allen Collins did a fantastic job with his guitar my favorite part czcams.com/users/shortsAhufqjb_5L4
He was genius he wrote that solo at 16 he also wrote the other part Steve is playing
Allen was the showstopper . Ronnie Van Zant barely moved because he didn't have to . He was the ultimate badass & didn't have to dance to the music . He just belted out profound statements . Allen was like the big attraction and always put on a top notch performance ,playing every guitar solo exact every time . Never missing a note .
@@shellytarbet3677 his move and style while he delivered was just sublime
Allen is a criminally underrated guitarist.
@@lorijohnston4311such a tragic life. He never was given the recognition he deserved.
I was 17 when they came to our city In Virginia. I just turned 65 & still get a thrill hearing this! The Blacks hated me for going to listen to a White group! I was trashed at school by all the Blacks but I still went with friends and the coliseum was sold out and I didn't see no other Blacks thr but I was safe and we were at the stage. The stage hands put cans of Miller on the stage for us, & when the lights went down, the Doobies started floating & the music was great and when they left the stage, they came to the folks at the edge and shook our hands! I'm still thrilled by this! Glad you enjoyed it!❤🎶🐟
You know, back in the 70's, 80's, 90's and early 2000's we knew we could all get along. There were of could instances of racism and chaos but one of my best friends back in the day introduced me to Kool Moe Dee and Big Daddy Kane.
Aren't you glad you went. Yes I'm black too and the pressure over music was ridiculous. Good music is just good music. Those folks missed out. I'm soooo glad I listened to all music and I loved rock just as much as hip hop and pop and r and b.
@@Beastlife50
Yes racism was actually rare then in the suburbs. We all got along race only mattered to a few ignorant.
@@JaquelineGoodspeed yes I'm so glad I went! Our parents raised us to love good music! My Grandmother & Aunts loved when I put Pink Floyds album on 🎶❤️ Great memories 💯🎶❤️ I'm glad I didn't let the hate stop me from enjoying what I loved 😍
@@JaquelineGoodspeed what got me was the racism cam from the Blacks! I didn't care! I didn't allow it to stop my love of good music 🎶❤️
A much simpler time when you would go to a concert and just enjoy the music, no cell phones, just everyone enjoying the music.
Amazing 🌹 wish i could have been there
Yes sir Ronnie we still remember you…
The crash was just a couple of months after this performance. I still remember when it happened. So sad. They were amazing.
yeah so sad man 😪 wish i was around to enjoy them before they go
All of the original members have now passed - RIP ❤️
man rip
Great reaction vid. They were FANTASTIC. It's nice to see a genuine reaction, to a fantastic band, from a new generation!!!
Thanks so much for your kind and welcoming reply, yeah our type of music is much different from this and i can say i feel like i was supposed to be in your era. I feel like i belong in the past. these music were made for me 🙌🤣🌹💕
You did just witness one of the best performances of all time . Tragically 3 months later the lead singer and 3 ( including Dean ) other band members were killed in a bad plane crash on a crappy old plane .
yeah i did heard the news about that and man it kinda ruin my experience after 😢 rip
@@stillmrdoge It was horrifying . I was 13 and was supposed to be at the first show of the last tour in Hollywood Fl. on Oct 14 , 77' I had a $7.25 ticket ,but my Parents wouldn't allow me to attend . My first concert ended up being Black Sabbath with special guest Van Halen a year later . That one was $8.50 General admission. I ended up in front row . 10 Ft from Ozzy & Eddie Van halen !!!!
LS were so cool for so long and now they’re classic 👏 Can’t go wrong with any of their songs 👌
Southern Rock & Country music is so good for your soul. We need it today with all the hate and violence in today’s modern music.
Fantastic band Fantastic song Fantastic reaction. Love it. thanks. PEACE 😎
Thank you so much man this song had me on the floor 🤣
thanks so much bro i see your comments 🙌
Thank you for your reaction to this performance! You don't have to react to it but please view the same band on the same song when they performed it in Knebworth, England in 1976. Allen Collins (the guitarist in all white in the video you just reacted to) was in rare form and he performed a longer version of the solo. Please also read some of the back-story on that performance when Ronnie VanZant took most of the bank out on the Rolling Stones tongue (stage). I think that you will enjoy it.
thanks so much for the kind reply, I will definitely check that one out. and sure i will tighten up with some research
Gimme Back My Bullets, Song for the Bad Man, That Smell, Sweet Home Alabama, Georgia Peaches, and many more
lol I see couple people asking for sweet home Alabama
ì was lucky to live in Orange Park (JAX), Florida during the late 60's and 70s off and on thru 80's and 90's, and we were very fortunate to have them to ourselves until the rest of the world caught wind of them. Didn't mind sharing them. Even after the crash, we were able to hear them under other band names, but it always felt like home to my heart. Black Creek on Sunday, after Church, KFC, the bait and tackle store for penny candy. You and Lynarf Skynard just took me to Middleburg. ty❤❤
Mark this day on your calendar -- you just witnessed greatness!
Great reaction.
They have always been my favorite.
You can't go wrong with any of their songs.
amazing indeed 🙌❤
Great Reaction my love❤️
Thank you my Love ❤😊

I've been waiting like 3 days for this, I can't wait to see the look on your face again, it's going to blow your mind, I really don't like it when bands go live but this has to be the best by far, this is definitely takes the cake, I can't wait for the best parts to see the look on your face, damn damn the guitar solo is crazy, I got a blasting again, little side note the lead singer he went in the back to give the guitarist head stage, lol lol, you're going to have a mental breakdown, your going to need a couple cigarettes after this, I'm completely wiped out every time I see this, omg omg, absolutely friggin awesome, WOW WOW, it never gets tired, for some reason every time I wash it it just gets better and better, i knew you'll would love this, probably the best reaction i seen, i loved it, but I definitely need a couple cigarettes in a shower after this, just awesome, thank you.
Yep i absolutely loves this one i got it on repeat ❤🙌
We knew how to party back then! Look at all those people who are all grandparents now! 😂😂
lmao ikr i wonder where most of them are now
Great Grandmother now! Loving & Living the "dream" (retired) Awaiting Beth Hart to come back on tour, still holding on to tickets bought last year. Check her out at Kennedy Center Honors for Buddy Guy. She sings "I'd Rather Be Blind." ❤
Real music and talent This was normal to us back then
Yet absolutely amazing to us 😊👏
Back then you could FEEL the music Hear the talent I so glad to see younger people hear what I heard growing up Notice they all play instruments in the band? Many hours of practice and hard work but look at the results I believe the 1970s music was the best
Thank you 🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🤘🎶🎶
🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶👍 love it 🤘🤘🤘🤟
Knebworth 1976, Lynyrd Skynyrd live on a stage custom built for the Rolling Stones brought Southern Rock to England. Great videos...
Thank you for an on spot reaction.
And thank you for showing love 👏😊
They were the best.
Gotta love them southern boys! 😁🎸🎸🎸😁
Absolutely amazing
🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🤘🤟👍 Tuesday's Gone ' Curtis lowe, simple man, many more 🎶🎶
Added 🙌
I have seen them 20 years ago and they favorite live band
That's so cool
Absolutely PERFECT reaction. Thank you for not freaking over the confederate flag. These fellows were not racist just southern. They died still being friends. Yes just a few months after this performance many died in a plane crash.
I want it now, it's going to blow your mind, that's why you should listen to me when I say play the live version it's a little better you'll understand when you see this, make sure you have a pack of cigarettes for the end because you're going to need it, lol lol.
the best version of the song ever, ur infor a wonderful surprise, my all time fav song, this was only filmed a few months b4 the tragic plane crash that killed some of them, have seen these live an omg, keep up the good work an good luck with ur channel, deffo need some led zeplin
YOU will never hear music like this in your life time ever again.
Man I wish I could have been there
Do the deep dive on this group! You won't regret anything they do!
i got you 🙌
Greatest live band ever. Saw them at Convention Hall in Asbury Park just before the plane crash and they were incredible. Never seen anything like that performance before or since. Rocked from beginning to end and never let up,no time to catch your breathe. Total control of the audience. When it was over we were all wondering what the fuck just happened ! Everyone walked out in a daze !
I think LS practiced more than any other band (especially considering the number of members). Ronnie demanded perfection, and he did everything it took to attain it. At times, 3 lead guitars all in sync....it only comes with a LOT of practice. This is coming from past interviews and videos that I've seen. They worked their butts off like no one else in the business at the time.
The bar on his finger when he's playing the electric guitar is called a Wawa bar
lol the wawa goes crazy
Here for the real deal..wait I'm gonna need my smokes 😂 Peace out ✌️ ☮️
lol hey get back here
The lead singer wrote a song about an older man who influenced him in his music growing up. It's really good. It's called The Ballad of Curtis Lowe. I hope you'll check it out.❤
You need to check out Prince's performance on "My guitar gently weeps"
You're gonna blow up for sure bro. Very likable, great choices of what to react to, and real musical appreciation and reactor tact. Excited to be in your first thousand subs, cause it will be a million soon enough if you're consistent.
This melted me bro thank you so much. definitely giving you a shoutout!
@@stillmrdoge All Love bro !
RIP MOST OF LYNARD SKYNARD BAND!! Nephew plays now. Killed in plane crash 😢
life was GREAT!
Some Skynyrd recommendations depends on what mood you're looking for. A personal favorite is, You got that right 7/13/1977 convention hall performance for something to get you grinning like a fool. But Sweet homage Alabama, Don't ask me no questions or Gimme three steps, are a start.
For something with more sentimentality try, Tuesdays gone, Every mother's son, Simple man, I never dreamed or Needle & the spoon.
In all honesty you can written every one of their songs on it's own bit of paper. Put them all in a hat & just pick one at random. Pretty much Every song is a masterpiece in it's own way.
A great reaction. NEVER worry about pausing. Just remember to go back to the start of the solo/duet sections in the future 🤘🏻😉
Much love to everyone from here in the UK
It's one thing to pause one to many times. We can adjust and easily forgive you 😇. However .. NEver! NEVer!! EVER!!! PAUSE @ anytime during a guitar solo! Solo's of any kind with any instrument are sacrosanct.
Yes .. About three months later, on October 20, 1977 .. while on their way to Baton Rouge, Louisiana .. the Convair CV-240 passenger aircraft the band was on, ran out of fuel and crashed in a wooded area near Gillsburg, Mississippi. Vocalist and founding member Ronnie Van Sant, guitarist and vocals Steve Gaines {he's the one in reddish pants, white shirt w/short hair & goatee}, backup vocals Cassie Gaines {Steve's older sister}, asst. road manager Dean Kilpatrick, Captain Walter McCreary and First officer William John Gray all died while 20 others survived. It would be ten years later that the band would play again when Ronnie's younger brother, Johnny reformed the band.
RIP LYNYRD SKYNYRD
Holy!!! With the girls there...must have been fun
I think i would be screaming more than them 🤣🤣🤣
This performance was just about 3 months before the plane crash ( Oct 20, 1977) that killed Ronnie Van Zant, guitarist in red pants Steve Gaines, his sister Casey backup singer, road manager and 2 pilots 20 others survived but had serious injuries. Day On The Green #1: Fleetwood Mac, Doobie Brothers, Gary Wright, (May 7, 1977). Day On The Green #2 & 3: Eagles, Steve Miller Band, Heart, Atlanta Rhythm Section, Foreigner (May 28 & 30, 1977). Day On The Green #4 & 5: Peter Frampton, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Santana, Outlaws (July 2 & 4, 1977).😂
Man that is crazy...so sad that they went so young. I will add your requests to the list! 🙌❤
My favorites are of course free bird, simple man, call me the breeze, Sweet home Alabama,Tuesdays gone, and anything else really… plane crash was October 20, 1977 about 3 months after this concert.
lol been seeing a lot of sweet home Alabama so I might do that one next lol 🤣🙌❤
I was there it was epic
The couple at the beginning of the video, is dancing. 😀
I do believe that this song is more about the guitar solo at the end!
You should do lynard skynard Sweet Home Alabama
i added that one to the list, thank you so much! 🙌❤
It will be on play list. GOD Bless the member lost.......however Curtis Low is fantastic
rip 🙌💕
You would enjoy the Allman brothers band :live at the Fillmore East : (whipping post)
Sad.. for me, cause I was there and months later the plane crashed😢hot day at Oakland Coliseum

🤣🤣 he too clean with it and crazy
It's funny, you look at Allen Collins and he's just chomping at the bit to unleash 😅😅😅
🤣🤣🤣
Much as I love this (& other) song, & especially this performance, I'm old & there's always been a troubling aspect about this band to me. Look at any freeze frame here and see if you notice anything about it that seems.. off, troubling or not normal in this picture. I'd especially like your answer. That's a hint. ❤
The guy with the dark hair, looking all around is thinking.."I shouldn't have had those beers..I gotta pee!"
Outlaws, Green grass and high tides forever
Recommend Bruce Hornsby and the range... Thats just the way it is Peace
added 🤞🙌
After you know about the plane crash, the words to free bird can take on a different meaning. 3 members died. Including Ronnie the lead singer.
I seen them 3 times before the plane crash…
I think getting to see them is a blessing
The crash was about 3 months later
Sadly 😪
This is an awesome video! Just when you think it’s over they start jamming! Just look at all those sunburned white girls 😂 💙👵🏼✌🏼
lmao i wish i could be there in the crowd screaming my lungs out when Allen did his solo 🦾❤

And now, for the Definitive Free Bird... Knebworth (England) Aug. 21,1976. It's when these barefoot boys from the Florida-Georgia line opened for The Stones, and proudly handed their bony British asses to them.
lmao 🤣🤣 i got to see that
Think if Ronnie hadnt pulled them back Allen and Steve would have went on for hours many in the crowd was the first time hearing too its great
I think i read that Mick Jagger told them not to go on the tounge. Don't tell a Southern boy NOT to do something cause you know he will.
Now you see why the year before, at Knebworth in the UK, Skynyrd were only allowed to play this on day 1. The reason why? They were the band scheduled for the week to be on stage before The Rolling stones. Who at the time were one of the biggest bands in the world. Skynyrd not only curb stomped the Stones out performing them. But they stole the Stones tongue (the tongue made out from the stage for Mick Jager to play on. & ONLY Mick Jager). They got the crowd so hyped up that Mick had a tantrum & wouldn't come out until the crowd had calmed down. Which took over 20 minutes! The Stones then threatened to walk if Skynyrd did that song again. So the organizers broke & told Skynyrd they couldn't do it again. It is soooooooo funny watching Ronnie pushing the guitarists onto the tongue to do that final instrumental 🤣
Knebworth is just a one day festival.
@@ElizabethJohnson-ss4ce My ap[ologies. Screw up on my part. I know the Stones got them banned from playing this at a festival. Thought it was cause of what happened at Knebworth.
@@andrewmoss3681 Not sure if this is true or not, but.....I heard that Frampton didn't want them to play Freebird on the second day of this Oakland concert (that would be July 4th). Is that what you're thinking of?
@@ElizabethJohnson-ss4ce it might be. Either way, thanks for correcting my mistake. Better we get the facts right regarding such a Legend band
