  • Out of respect for Yamaha's ingenuity, i decided to service the oil pump on my 1973 RD350 and use it instead of pre-mixing oil with fuel. This video explains how the pump works, how to remove the pump and the reason for not using pre-mix.

    Correct decision . Pre-Mix is fine for Racing , but constant intermittent throttle work , like a ROAD bike will lead to oil starvation .

    Hey just a quick question, I’m working on an older enduro very similar to this one. my question is that if I decide to run premix, do I also have to remove the plastic tachometer gear even though I have already removed the oil pump driver gear. Thank you for your time .

      30:1
      means
      3,000 ml of gasoline is to 100 ml of 2t oil,
      so for 1 liter gasoline you need 33.33 ml of 2t oil

    • @endurofan9854
      @endurofan9854 Před 3 lety +1

      the higher the value of the 1st number the higher the amount of gasoline,
      so if you go for a higher value _ :1 youll be mixing less oil per liter,
      and pop up less smoke
      the lower value of _ :1
      youll be mixing more oil per liter...
      and pop up a lot of smoke

    Hey buddy, I just bought a Yamaha dirt bike that has the oil injection tubing line cut....... do you know what size tubing I need to get to replace it? It's a very small tube but I'm not sure what size it is so I can order online.

    • @seventiesmetal8673
      @seventiesmetal8673  Před 5 lety

      Hi Tony 😃 I bought new oil tubing that has 3 mm inner diameter. Please try to measure your cut tube or look for information about your bike online. I don’t know if your dirt bike and my RD350 has the same oil line.

    • @seventiesmetal8673
      @seventiesmetal8673  Před 3 lety

      Hi! You can run the engine and measure how much oil is being pumped from the pump feed lines. I think you should get 5cc of oil from 200 strokes of pump. Read this link for more info

    Wt happens if we fill 2T oil at side tank as well as to the petrol tank ?
    I hv a rx135. Pls guide me

    • @seventiesmetal8673
      @seventiesmetal8673  Před 5 lety +1

      Hi Keerthi 😃 Please don’t fill oil in both tanks. You will foul your spark plug and produce lot of smoke. Decide if you want to run premix or use side oil tank. If you decide side oil tank, service the oil pump and ensure it’s working. If you decide premix, 30:1 is a good premix ratio.

      For every 30 ml of fuel, you should have 1 ml of oil in tank. So for 1 liter (1000 ml) fuel, add 30 ml of oil!

    How can we know if pump fails??

    • @seventiesmetal8673
      @seventiesmetal8673  Před 5 lety +2

      That’s the down side of using a pump rather than pre-mix. Hard to know when the pump fails. One way would be to check the pump every know and then. Remove the lube tube from the carbs and see if oil is dripping from them when bike is idling. This means pump is working. Never rev the engine when lube tube is off.
