    Thank you! I couldn’t find a video that dissects the actual oil pump components for these type of bikes until yours, very helpful

    I have question regarding the cylinder with cam profile @4:35 is there only one pin shouldn't there be two pins ?

    • @seventiesmetal8673
      @seventiesmetal8673  Před 3 lety +1

      You are right, seems like a pin is missing on the other side and there is a slot in the worm wheel as well for this pin. I am pretty sure I did not lose any part, maybe the previous owner had serviced the pump and misplaced it. But one pin will still do the job of making the cylinder rotate with the worm wheel.

  • @chrisbuffoni
    @chrisbuffoni Před 4 lety

    Awesome video! Quick question...when I tighten the nut on the end, the plunger will not move up and down unless I turn the cam part. When the nut is loose, it will move up and down. Any thoughts as to why this is happening?

    • @seventiesmetal8673
      @seventiesmetal8673  Před 4 lety

      Thanks! I don’t understand what you mean? The cam rotation is what causes the plunger to move up and down. So what you say seems like the pump is working as it should

    Bro, the small oil (plunger)seal has one flat and the other side is grooved. Can you please tell me which side should be facing outwards? In the video, I can see that the plunger cover seal(big one) has the grooved side facing outwards. Thank you.

    • @seventiesmetal8673
      @seventiesmetal8673  Před 5 lety +1

      Hi Mjshaheed! The plunger seal should have its grooved surface face the inside, so when you dismantle the pump, you should not see the groove until you remove the seal. Hope what I said made sense!

    Any idea how to view if the pump is functioning well or not in-situ?

    • @seventiesmetal8673
      @seventiesmetal8673  Před 3 lety

      Have a look at these videos, the pump plunger has to move up and down when engine is idling. Also, take out the oil feed lines from the carbs and make sure oil is dripping from these pipes. Also when you pull the pump throttle cable, the dripping has to increase.

    Hi, I want to check if the oilpump of my DT250 MX is mechanically working but when I rotate the kickstarter I cannot see movement of the plunger. Is it only visible when the engine is running or should I see it when I rotate the kickstarter 5 - 10x?

    • @seventiesmetal8673
      @seventiesmetal8673  Před 4 lety

      Hi! I think it’s better to check the pump when the engine is running. Or else you will be cranking the engine many times to see the plunger move. Don’t rev the engine though as it can seize if the pump is not working. If you want to test the pump while revving the engine, I suggest pre-mixing fuel with oil. The plunger motion should increase in frequency as you rev the engine.

    • @seventiesmetal8673
      @seventiesmetal8673  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi! Check the below links. You need to check the stroke clearance of the pump, bleed the pump and also measure oil quantity coming out of pump.
