  • 2008 Lexus ISF Review featuring this very clean example but has over 100k miles on it. The Lexus ISF is the genesis of Lexus performance, aside from the LFA. The V8 gem in the 2008 Lexus ISF is a masterpiece. See my 2020 Lexus RCF Review: • 2020 RC F Review...Lex...
    I appreciate the Lexus ISF as a fun street car that you can live with every day. The ISF is not as sharp as a BMW M3, but the comfort and refinement more than makes up for it. Also, the Lexus build quality is very much present with this 2008 ISF with over 100k miles on it.

    If you drive in manual mode without “sport mode” it will shift very slow. Hit sport mode and the shifts will be much faster 😈
    Great review!

    • @MeynMotorGroup
      @MeynMotorGroup  Před 3 lety +10

      Yes so a few viewers have def mentioned that. I've noticed this with Lexus performance cars they tune the trans to be dual purpose so it shifts slower when you're not driving aggressively to reduce the jolting effect during daily drives and when all the modes are switched the car will react faster. This transmission is actually not a negative to me really I like the way it reacts actually LC seems to be the one performance Lexus that reacts quickly no matter what mode. This is a very good car tho not just for 08 but even today

  • @rcdesigns
    @rcdesigns Před 3 lety +2

    The throttle response changes drastically in sport mode. You don't feel the need to 'get into the throttle' at all. It's very jumpy, whereas normal mode is more mild, and I actually drive mine in 'snow' mode pretty often because it softens up the throttle a TON and saves gas because it limits the revs to 3k rpm. If you turn off traction control, put it in sport mode and manual mode, and shift from the shift gate, this thing fully unlocks and is a total beast.

    • @MeynMotorGroup
      @MeynMotorGroup  Před 3 lety

      Yes it becomes jumpy because it throws you in a lower gear. Even when driving at 45 mph your new cruising rpm is no longer 1500 rpm like normal cars its like 2500 rpm. This is how "sport" mode works in every car

    also to correct your transmission issues if you flip the ect switch to "pwr" it becomes a lot more responsive and less sluggish. also for manual mode actually moving the shifter over to "s" makes it respond a lot better for the paddles.

    • @MeynMotorGroup
      @MeynMotorGroup  Před 3 lety

      Appreciate it and sound tubes are natural actually Lexus feeds a pipe directly from the intake to the interior of the vehicle so the driver can hear the induction sound in a more profound manner the V6 cars and up get it

    • @qnunyuh8417
      @qnunyuh8417 Před 3 lety

      @@MeynMotorGroup what I ment was the isf doesn't have a sound generator like other models, it has a secondary door on the intake that let's more air in over 3500 rpm and what your hearing in the cabin is just the intake with out the sound being boosted, inhanced redirected, kinda like when you use an aftermarket intake with a cone filter, if that makes any sense

    • @MeynMotorGroup
      @MeynMotorGroup  Před 3 lety +1

      Ah yes you're correct surprisingly this model F car didn't have their usual sound tube but a dual stage intake where both intakes open to produce an amazing sound after 3600 rpm and it certainly does sound far superior the competition thanks again!

    • @MeynMotorGroup
      @MeynMotorGroup  Před 3 lety +1

      Appreciate that my friend so I did a comparison vic with the LC and RCF and there is def a distinct difference between these F cars and the LC. The chassis is stiffer on the LC and weighs more so it has a substantial luxury feel but also the motor sounds much different. There is a more mechanical sound to the V8 despite being the same motor and the exhaust is far louder in the LC. LC takes the F cars and tunes it to 11 but I do still love these F cars they are a ton of fun and actually the ISF engine sound seems a bit more visceral than the new RCF perhaps it's due to the dual stage intake, not quite on the level of the LC but still sounds awesome. This is the F division that we miss from Lexus~ This vehicle proved what they were able to do with some of their normal cars, and this IS F does not disappoint. That 5.0L V8 is a treat to listen to, and best of all, it's naturally aspirated, which is pretty much a dying breed of engine. For the time, I think Lexus did a fantastic job with what they had to work with to make this car as amazing as it is. I had a 2005 e55 amg, and it was the worst reliable car ever. Stranded, limp home mode, new valves and full engine overhaul. Mercedes took it back under lemon law before warranty went out. My isf has never stranded me and at 120k that’s 3 times the reliability of the e55. Also look at the price of an e55 with 100k on it, compare to the price of an ISF with 100k. There’s a reason the isfs go for up to 30k with over 100k miles. And the e55s go for under 15k.

      @@MeynMotorGroup you already knew there are 2 personalities in the isf as it was built to be that way.
      The way you test drove it were only the boring side of it and yes it is slow and smooth.
      The manual mode is the only way to keep it at the high rmp and it is the opposite of boring. We are not sure if you tried that in sport mode. Would love to you test drive it again and do a part 2 review brother
