  • Join me as I attempt to upgrade the variator on my Royal Alloy GT125 to the Malossi Multivar 2000. As with all of my videos, this is not intended to be an instructional, or "How To" video, its just me having a go and sharing for entertainment. Please consult a professional mechanic before carrying out such work on your own scooter. Thanks for watching

The springs in 125 clutch are very week I hold them with my feet or hands, I use a very large adjustable spanner and tap it on the ground to loosen and tighten, the yellow spring is the best just stay away from the red springs they are to tight for 125 and burn up belts,
The yellow will give you a much smoother ride and grip the belt much better than standard 👍

Great info thank you for sharing. Yes I've seen that method, spanner on floor, on you tube. Good to know about the springs, and yes it is definitely an improvement. Thanks for watching and commenting👍🛵

Let us know what the performance is like compared to the doctor pulley if you can at some point bud. I fitted their variator kit and sliders the other day and im really happy with performance and I know you had them in before on your standard variator. May just upgrade my clutch spring now though! Great video as always

Considering you haven't done much of this before you are doing OK.
You had one problem with a loose nut before but you have learned and are using the torque wrench more. A 17mm nut could cope with 50nm easily so 40nm or 45nm is good.
If I could add one small note, whenever you use a torque wrench, try not to use extension, get it straight onto the socket wherever possible. The extension can change the torque. I wouldn't worry too much on todays job.
Oh, yes, always unwind your torque wrench to zero before putting it away.
Great camera work considering you didn't have your tripod. Enjoyable to watch.

To get your clutch nut off ,use a large adjustable spanner by holding clutch in both hands and hitting spanner on the floor I also marked position of nut before I took it apart so not to over tighten later ,

Have you heard about the Malossi 180cc works kit? Larger piston and barrel, replacement gearbox and exhaust. I think a remap is included too. They reach 70mph plus after this conversion with fast acceleration too. It costs around £1500 fitted.

I have a RA 125 GT. On Friday had its 1st service 600 miles and a new Tasso exhaust fitted. I am finding I am having to go full throttle to keep up with others even tho they are half throttle. We went to Arnside on Sunday. Most used half a tank when we got there. Mine used nearly full tank.
Can anyone advise what could be wrong with my bike Thanks in advance 👍🛵

A rubber smell ?? I checkt your video twice and it is obvious. The belt was between the clutch and not free as you tightened the nut. The second time you dit it correct; the nut is further on the axel. It is a common mistake with CVT's. I use always a very little bit of locktide (bleu) and spec both to 45 Nm.
