I was on holiday in North Wales a couple of weeks ago walking the dog along the sea front in Beaumaris, Anglesey, and came across a parked RA 125 in blue and white with L plates. The owner turned up and we had a good chat. He said he bought it after watching your series of videos and uses it every day. First scooter he’s ever owned and he loves it.

It’s very clear cut in the rules about the cycle box at lights. Cars and motorbikes are not allowed to stop in them UNLESS the lights just change to red and you don’t have time to brake before the first white line, then you can stop at the second one, cars and motorbikes included. But if you can, stop before it. very clear from the rules you said. The argument for your minor fault is that the examiner believed you could have braked safely to stop at the first white line and not go in the box, but you didn’t hence the fault. Also, my Mod2 is tomorrow! 😬

I have been rebuilding the original Lambrettas since 1967. My first one was an LD150 Mk 3 but they weren't cool to be seen on then. My first on the road one was a series II LI150 which my parents bought me for £21. I passed my test on that one. I completely stripped it down and used paint stripper to remove all the paint. I resprayed it in Ford velvet red and black cellulose. (£3/10 a litre in those days). It was so good that my mates were queuing up for me to do theirs.I even started buying and selling them, in all I had 38 and all versions from series 1 Li's with the original rare engine to TV 175's, SX 150 - 200 and a GT200. Most of them were Li 150's. I would like a RA today a TG 200 or 300 would be nice. The old ones were 2 stroke and I don't want to have to carry 2 stroke oil with me, plus the brakes are so much better on the modern versions. What is the range of yours on a full tank? And also, how does it perform going up Winnats Pass?

Is this a modern fuel-injected one? My carb-model (Scomadi TL) currently has 70.6 on the top-speed indicator. I need a bigger carb, and some porting to do when I have the money to throw at it.

Agree or disagree. But as far as I'm concerned, bike tests these days are just a money-making scam. When I was younger, you took your test on the road with one guy standing and watching you. and it must have taken half an hour. All this crap now is just to con people out of a lot of money, and I don't like being conned. I haven't passed my test, but I was riding a 250-cc for years and never had any accidents. It may be important if you intend to ride a high-powered bike but not a 250-cc There is nothing they could teach me that would make me ride any better. I'm sure it would be easier and less hassle to get your pilot license. I only wish I had taken my test before they brought all this bullsh*t in.

only advocate a full face. many, many years ago on a night into London (with gf on the back) I'd originally had an open face helmet on and she had my full face. she felt uncomfortable so we swapped. later in the journey, I had a rear wheel puncture at 50mph+ and went down the road on my face, knee and hands. I wrote off the helmet above and below the visor view which could so easily have been my face instead.1989 and I still have the scars on my hands and knee (the gf landed on me and was completely ok). ALWAYS ALWAYS WEAR A FULL FACE, it will save yr life.... and good looks. happy, safe driving
