Juan Carlos Gonzalez is right. The US is a representative *democracy*; another way of saying that is "indirect democracy", or "representative *republic*". A Republic is a form of Democracy.
NossohSeven it is SUPPOSED TO BE. These days it's operating more and more like an oligarchy. I find that in government "of the people, for the people, by the people," we have a "ruling class," that we, the working class support so that they can live to a standard that many of us dream of (I'd just not have to worry about bills!). They tell us to get better educations, work harder, save more, when they were born with a silver spoon in their mouths and don't understand WE have LESS THAN ENOUGH so they can have MORE THAN ENOUGH. Something isn't right with that.
