This is a really cool project. What I like about it is that it has different modes of detection to choose from. My favorite is mode is where the signal gets stronger or weaker depending on proximity.
Many thanks for posting this and your efforts of course in making it in the first place. I have a few questions if you don't mind? 1. Can the switch be mounted at the rear? (Away from dirt etc) 2. Can one be made to be more sensative, (the one I have goes over 3" and it looks like yours is about 1 1/2".) 3. Is the side sensitive too or just the top? And lastly 4. Can a longer piece of ferrite be used? Mine has started falsing and I refuse to pay the bucks they want for a new one. Besides, it's a sense of accomplishment when finished and it works. I want to build this pinpointer but I want to use it with only the vibrator and if the circuit can move a motor a little larger than 6 v.

About 170 turns of .25 copper enameled wire. Make sure you scrape bare the ends of the wire
