  • This was a really fun project for me. Just wait until I figure out how to put it in a container of some king and extend the coil on a cord like I failed at with the cen-tech. THE TINKIERING CONTINUES. SWING BEEP DIG.

    Great little project. That sound reminds me of the very first Aliens movie with the tracking scanners they were using. Funny how it's so similar.

      James Jackson Oh yeah, that's funny.

    Testing each component can usually be done with a good multimeter and googling "how to test ______" be it a resistor, capacitor, potentiometer, switch..... I think transistors and other stuff is more difficult to test.
    Congrats on the Super Stereo Ear, sounds like a lot of fun. These little kits are really fun for all ages, I had a blast getting my metal detector kit to where it is now an I'm 38.......

  • @DigginAmerica
    @DigginAmerica Před 11 lety

    Would be great if you could take the average Metal Detector, and "beef up" the Power to achieve greater Depth .
    The average Detector goes about 8 to 12 inches deep ... Pinpointers about 2 to 4 inches.
    I think someone like you can change their components to DOUBLE those numbers .
    Maybe even a different type of wave needs to be sent into the ground, than the wave sent down by our detectors ... like a micrwave or something, who the heck knows, but something different, more powerful .
    Good video .

    Cool ! Could you use a plastic soap box from Wal Mart for the container and a toothbrush holder for the probe !

    • @jaymoge
      @jaymoge  Před 5 lety

      Yours would be a much cleaner design than mine...

      It just popped into my mind while watching your video . Keep those videos coming cause I'll watching for them . Thank you for the info .

    Ok I admit, I watched it a second time :) Because the idea of mounting it in a squirt gun frame came to mind with using the trigger & all... Then paint it black & holster it to keep away all of those detector finds thieves... And then if all else fails and you get fed up with the new gun laws coming out, you can take your new squirt gun pin pointer into the bank & use it to demand the $140 bucks to buy the Garret :)

    The other thing to check (it happened on one of my other videos called Jay Mo Pro) is that the battery leads are really cheap and break easy. check all solder joints to make sure they are a good meld with the component and the copper. Good luck Lex...

    I agree with you on the pin pointer!

    You could probably slap that tip into a plastic cigar cover & then put heat shrink tape over it to the handle that you could make out of anything including a plastic soap travel container. Could you get away with loosing the circuit board & rolling it all into a handle? Would be nice to make a long narrow rolled circuit board for it. Someone could make a different board for you at the local college easy enough. If you don't need both sets of wires then that would cut out a big part of it also :)

    Hey Richard, well if you figure out how to get the coil(s) idea to work I'd love to know how it works out for you... thanks for watchning.

    Glad I watched it all, cause I think a Canadian dollar(Loonie coin) would jam the dvd drive ;-)
    That is a cool kit. I'll have to check The Source(Canadian name for Radio Shack)for similar kits.

    Bummer dude, wish i had more answers. Maybe i got lucky cuz mine worked first try then the battery lead broke and i fixed that, then the switch I installed failed so i fixed it. One thing i did notice is that if you tune it in very warm conditions you have to retune it in cooler condition and vise versa, that's all i got man. Good luck.

    I done this kit.. it is good and simple. Have been wondering how it would go if I changed the ferrite windings for two big sized coils same resistance and inductance.. I reckon it would take me to find coins at the beach..

    Nice vid NH - I wonder if you could use heavier guage wire to extend the probe/pointer. This looks like it might be worth giving a try. Thanks alot!

    • @jaymoge
      @jaymoge  Před 9 lety

      Donald Watkins III Maybe, I didn't try heavier guage. I thought it might me not flexable enough for the job. Thanks for watching. This issue with this unit is the weak state of the sensativaty. the cold just made it useless but in good weather it does ok.. It's on the shelf right now.

    • @bleirdo_dude
      @bleirdo_dude Před 2 lety

      From my limited understanding a heavier gauge wire at the coil would be for higher power being put through it. A bigger coil matching impedance (more power radiated rather than reflected back) would increase range.

    Once the probe is encased, won't you need it to sound without being in direct contact? I think of pinpointers as sounding without touching or bring right on top of the item being sought. Show us your continued work, okay? Maybe a dead garrett pinpointed bought for cheap online might be something you could scavenge for ideas or potentially repair?

      That's how this works, check out all my video's on it. It doesn't work so good in the cold of the garage in winter (25F). I'm always looking for broken ones to get cheap, problem is everyone thinks they have gold... Thanks.

    (تم تعديله)Good morning and thank you for this valuable information, and I have a question please exists on this link . _ (How many turns are in the grand mono coil _18 inch _ and wire diameter user (gpx 4500)) _and how it is linked the wires in numbers? ....my respects

      Wow, sorry Joel. Just took a trip down memory road and found your comment.. If you still need to know, yes you can.. and I did in my later video after extending this on a long piece of cat5 wire. Sorry it took me so long to get back to ya... best to you.

    A thumbs down from the guy who will be washing your Maserati one day.
    Ben Franklin started with only a key and a kite.
    You know I'm gonna be mad when you get this all worked out.
    Reed Lukens had the same idea as me, I actually went by a place in Hudson to try and get them to cut a board for me, but what I brought them was patented, so they said they couldn't? Good work.
