The Q800 is back!!! Excited for this classic cam to see the light of day again.
The Bluetooth connectivity is appealing. My Blackvue DR900S-2CH's erratic WiFi connectivity and multi-step & time-consuming "dance" (which doesn't work the same each time) to reconnect to my phone has been a continual source of frustration with that system (not to mention the dozens of hourly disconnects/reconnects when it's on my home WiFi).
u3000 is the only one to get if the main reason you are getting a dashcam is for parking mode. 16-20 DAYS using radar parking mode running off of a battery pack is awesome.
I have the Q1000 and have been fairly happy with it as it never really overpromised its cloud features, unlike Blackvue. Needless to say, this technology still has a ton of room for improvement likely for all manufactures. I am curious if there are more updates on the way for the Q1000 or maybe another model that further improves on parking mode/cloud technology. Thanks.
I feel like Thinkware could offer an “L” bracket with some 3M double sided tape to fix the rear vertical glass issue. I was looking at the u3000 so I could use the rear radar to see if someone messes with stuff in the bed of my truck.
Should be simple enough to find or make something in the interim.
I need a good rear view camera (for my EKKO RV external mount). Wireless would be nice but not required. Where would you recommend I look?
what do RV circles talk about? fairly certain there are RV centric chats that have similar concerns.
Darn i was hoping to see if they announced a device similar to the cm100 so i don't need to carry hot spot
That’d be awesome.
Nice work! Asking all the questions EVERYONE wants to know…been holding off on installing ThinkWare U3000 because of the rear cam issues people were having. Still not sure if I like the form factor of the front unit compared to the BlackVue units were you can position directly in the middle of the windshield. Thanks for the video!
Good to get some clarity about the rear radar on the U3000 as us folks on DCT wondering about this, thank you for asking the hard hitting questions!
Hopefully they will list these prerequisites in the box material or on their website.
The other upgrades seem very incremental at this point, so bit of a disappointment this year from Thinkware..
After sema I'm curious if you'd still recommend a dual lens for capturing plates
A telephoto lens is definitely still very helpful for that. Going to SEMA doesn't change the laws of physics. :)
that's disappointing to hear that the u3000 rear cam is no use on vertical windows as i'd been thinking of this for my van. not sure the 6 metre cable would be long enough either. would it be possible to rig up something on the inside roof just back from the windows to fit the cam onto?
The cam works fine, it's the rear radar that will require creative mounting if your looking to use it. A small square or wedge shape object stuck to the window should be all that's required if you want to use it.
I think Thinkware has been superior to Blackvue for quite a few years but I think BV's increased shutter speed is a great upgrade with real boost in performance. I am not hearing/seeing anything from TW... just bells and whistles (Bluetooth, blah blah blah). As crazy as it sounds, IMO camera performance should be the priority for a... camera.
My Blackvue DR900S-2CH's erratic WiFi connectivity and multi-step & time-consuming "dance" (which doesn't work the same each time) to reconnect to my phone has been a continual source of frustration with that system, so a non-frustrating Bluetooth connection is appealing to me.
Interviewing a representative of Thinkware and praise their product is NOT an impartial review. From now on, I'm not sure if I can trust honests review from Vortex.
This is not a review... This is an overview of the dashcams they were displaying at SEMA (a show where companies often announce new products) and some answers to questions that I had about their products. If you want to see my reviews, search for my videos that have "Review" in the title. For example: czcams.com/video/Bjg0gZItv9o/video.html
😂😂
They don’t mention anything about image quality upgrades, new technology chipset (STARVIS 2) integration or anything else that hasn’t been in existence for the last 6 years! Yet, all these “new” models will debut mid 2024! 🤷🏽
Wow, i can’t wait….to be unimpressed with these offerings!
Yeah, this round is more focused on entry level dashcams. The U3000 we talked about at the end is a Starvis 2 model.
@@VortexRadar - Except that the U3000 has been in the market for 9 months and is a known quantity! I know that you have to remain neutral on such things but when i watched this presentation i could only mutter “Where’s The Beef”? For example, i thoroughly enjoyed the Blackvue presentation and can’t wait to see their new models debut!
