Wow!
So excited for BlackVue.
Only needing one Wi-Fi source for two dash cams is going to make a lot of people happy.
And great job providing both Codecs, (H.265 and H.264).
Congrats BlackVue.
Can someone expand on this? Not sure I understand? Are you saying if you had Wi-Fi in your car you couldn’t connect more than one BlackVue camera at one time?
@@jameshuegli3534he's talking LTE models feeding off each other.
The dash cam industry is getting closer to what I have been looking for in a dash cam product. Front and rear view for general recording. Plus a telephoto camera for license plate identification. There is a technical CZcams channel that went in depth on IR for license plate reading. This would be a nice feature for the dash cam. Really like the remote mounting for the video files to assist with the heating issues. Looking forward to your in depth video on this line of product. Thanks for sharing.
Do you have a link to that video? I've done some deeper dives into external IR cams as well and would love to learn more.
There are some manufacturers working on telephotos straight from the factory so you don't have to DIY a solution. Great to see companies continuing to innovate. :)
Tell BlackVue to fix the freaking APP! 😡
I used it for the first time yesterday with an older model (DR590W-2CH). It worked quite well, I was pleasantly surprised considering the reviews on the Play Store. What issue are you having?
What’s wrong with the app?
@@chefgav1It constantly freezes and disconnects. I have to always force close the app
In parking mode motion detection, if the rear cam triggers, the uploaded thumbnail shows front cam view.
You have to watch it and use cloud data privilege to only realize you have to use more only to watch that the detection was rear cam. If that makes sense.
App works great
Good job on the video. I'm happy to hear that the LTE connection of one BV DR970X Plus series dash camera can be used by other BV dash cameras!
Yo.
I want the Dr970x plus box for 3 channels
Surprised that with a complete revamp they didn’t change the model number more than adding a Plus
Damn it. All these Starvis 2 sensor dashcams, I'm struggling on which one to upgrade to. And I'm far too impatient to wait for all the tests/reviews! 🤣 Also, having to wait until next year is a bit of a bummer.
The shutter speed is so important. I'm keen to see if the faster shutter speed will help freeze plates at high relative speeds.
There is no problem freezing a license plate at day. The problem comes at night. And without HDR I don't think the shutter speed will make the difference at night.
I will wait for the comparisons of Plus version of Blackvue vs. Viofo A229 Pro.
Good idea@@HD2You
@@HD2You The "old" versions of HDR that BlackVue used weere HORRIBLE...basically they were similar to your mobile phones camera where it will take a few frames and combine them, and you get a lot of smearing rendering numbers and letters completely illegible. Shutter speed is king though. A 30p dashcam with 1/60 shutter will out perform a 60p dashcam slowing down to 1/30 and smearing with HDR.
Great stuff! Actually learned much more from this than their press release. Very surprised that they had to go with 2-channels for the box cam. I guess 4k recording and 3 channels is just a bit too taxing for BlackVue systems.
This definitely looks like a candidate for being the benchmark dashcam overtaking the Viofo A229 Pro. I can't believe I'm even considering switching dashcams after one year...
No HDR, no chance
Can’t wait to find out. That’s the dash cam I almost bought. However, I want cloud access via app and blackvue are the guys for that. Just taking forever to get the new sensors and things.
I like the idea of the box cam. Kind of like a police cam where they actually run a SSD drive. 😊
Was just going to pull the plug this black Friday for 2 new blackvues. Glad I saw this, now I'll wait until January. These look like a big jump in quality.
Disappointed concerns over app changes was not brought up, but good segment overall. New hardware looks promising.
Great video mate and good to see Blackvue bringing the heat!
Their pricing plans put Nextbase to shame too! 😂
He mentioned that the casing was different now because of the change to the lens. I wonder if we can still just reuse all the wiring from the previous X models. I would love to upgrade as I currently have the 900X-2CH but if it requires rewiring everything I probably won't bother as it was quite the investment just to install the 900x the first time around.
Would love for them to simplify the app too. It's gotten a lot worse as they are trying to focus on getting people to pay for the cloud stuff.
I am in the same boat. Waiting on the release...
Finally ! So glad I didn’t impulse buy one of these other brands. Drop this asap.
Still hoping for side cameras (is it on your radar?). I would like something I could mount on the side mirrors but even in car facing out would be fine.
Does it allow longer clips that 1 minute long, and do the clips properly line up when viewing them in succession, AND do the front and rear camera clips finally line up timewise?
Nice! It looks like BlendMount might have to make some new products for this new upgraded lineup as these dashcams got much beefier.
Which one do you recommend (if any) that have a USB mini power adapter? I ask because my truck is already hardwired with a USB Mini cable and I would rather plug and play than to re-run a new cable again. It was not fun the first time.
I actually like box version, you can DIY install 120mm fan on it and get rid of any heating problems. I just wish storage is more expandable with nvme ssd or usb-c ssd as optional thing if you want to do that. Limit of 256gb on endurance microsdcards sucks ...or just add more microsd card slots(idk if thats possible). Also they should make that box 3 or 4 channel, it would make more sense. Theres room for progress .
It’s all marketing. They know they can do all that but if they make the best camera system now then what? Companies move in stages to make the most money. You’ll find they will add a little extra next release and so on. A tactic so people keep buying there new released products
Looking forward to upgrade for new vehicle - BlackVue in other two vehicles, upgrades look very good
From what I'm hearing in the video it sounds like I can buy the DR970X-2CH LTE Plus and connect one of Blackvue's Internal cabin cameras to make it a 3 channel? Is that correct? Would this idea also work for the new DR970X Box Plus version?
I want to have a 3 channel setup. 4k front and rear. Interior Cabin resolution 1080 is fine but 4k would obviously be best.
Seems that too much work for HDR let Blackvue without it.
I know the Clear HDR is not useful for dashcam usage compared to a CCTV camera but at least they could use the the DOL HDR which is still available on Starvis 2.
But, I know, Blackvue didn't want flickering lights on their videos because of HDR. Better, a nice image but with missing details and night. Most of the people don't know so they will buy happy.
I consider the best decision for these new models is to use a F1.7 lens. This is great!
I knew they would be coming out with new cams. I almost bought one about a month ago and decided to hold off
I screwed up big time! I knew it too & still bought one. The next week after install vortex mentioned it.
They had a sale and figured they had something up their sleeve when I checked out my cart smh
I DID screw up. Going from DR900X to DR970X (non-plus). Buyer's remorse. Next upgrade I guess I'll wait for Starvis 3 cameras AND VR's review before I pull this dumbshit move again.
@@mikeprice8307 I literally just had the 970X installed. At least the hardwiring is the same and hopefully it's the same rear camera. Also, hopefully I'll be able to use the same mount so I'll only need to swap out the camera itself.
Would be great to know if we can use existing wiring. I guess the biggest question is does the model with the box provide extra benefits like more storage.
Hi there, wiring (power and video) is going to be the same as for DR970X, DR770X, DR900X Plus, DR750X Plus. Just keep in mind that the height of the new mounts is slightly higher to still enable a full rotation with the new bigger lens but the diameter will be the same as well so you might not even have to change it depending on the angle of your front windshield. Thank you.
@@BlackVueOfficialoh wow that's great
Read the other comments. Blackvue mentions that.
Will I be able to connect some older (and cheaper) Blackvue, like 590 2ch, to the new 970X Plus LTE so that also the 590's content gets uploaded to the cloud? Thinking of building that 4-channel cloud-enabled system, but using lower quality cams on the sides of the car, to manage costs.
Yeah that should work
Really can't give you my money fast enough for a few of these. Is there a list to get on for the product release? Great video and information....
I just seen they posted it online for sale are you going to do a review? I wanted to wait to buy it until you did your review
If they allowed distinct 2 cameras for free on one sign in, they will have me.
It’s 2023, there is no excuse for me to have to pay extra to have 2 cameras with 1 login with no extra paywall
Edit:
Seems like at least the lite plan allows for multiple cameras at $4/month. Still miffed, but that’s way better than having to buy an extra plan and then additional camera coverage (like how it was before)
Wait does this mean you could have the 970X LTE Plus in the front and then use a 970X Plus in the rear and connect it to the front? Because that sounds like it would be the best front and rear combo, unless the 2nd camera is also 4k with the 970X Box Plus
Bingo!
@@VortexRadar if current 970x LTE is up front with sims card, will the 970 LTE plus connect to it?
Or does it have to be vice versa with sims card?
No. Only the new models allow other dashcams to connect to them. You can’t connect a new one to an old one.
@@VortexRadar I'll try to put my sims card in the Plus then so I can attempt a 4 ch setup.
This would be a great setup. But would you need to run a separate power cable to the rear camera as well? Or just use the single cable that currently powers and connects the small rear cameras?
I can only say one word: FINALLY! Hope the first batch won't have lens focus issues, like the DR970X LTE had.
For real…
So I’ve been looking at getting a 4 channel dashcam with cellular capabilities, but I am yet to find a decent one. Am I correct in understanding that I’d be able to buy 2 x DR970X LTE PLUS and install them both and have it work? How would I go about this? Worried about the power drainage on my cars battery?
Hoping you could spare some of your wisdom! 😬
Awesome! Thanks for the help! 👌🏽😑
Hey do you know if by now you can share the internet between 2 BlackVue cameras?
Still not yet unfortunately
So can I use same cable from my 750x plus? Do I need to replace the mount from windshield? Or will it slide in to existing?
Blackvue hasn't updated their compatibility page yet, but this is a good reference: helpcenter.blackvue.com/hc/en-us/articles/360056111611-Accessories-Compatibility-across-Different-Camera-Models
They've posted on other comments about this. Looks like the power cable is the same as their newest models (you'll need to check for your 750X Plus) and the mounts fit the same but move the camera a bit farther away from the windshield now in case the larger lens bumps into the glass.
Did they mention the quality of the rear dash camera, is it also 4K in the rear dash cam?
It’s the same 1080p rear cam as before
What I wanted to know is how much of my existing wiring is still going to be compatible if I want to upgrade to the new models from my 970x
Blackvue mentions that in another comment
Did the rep say if the physical dimensions at the mounting location where identical to the old models? Would be nice if my DR900X blendmount could be reused.
Yep your BM should be fine with the new one
I hope they brought back the manual AGC limiters for front and rear too...I stopped buying BV after they removed h265, forced HDR, and nixed gain selector in the first "Plus" series"
I had the 900X for two years, it stopped connecting to my phone. Spent $450 for it and was told too bad, out of warranty. My car is always parked under a carport and if not under a car port, the sunshade is always on to protect the camera from any extra heat if could be avoided.
Try doing a factory reset on it. I have to do a factory reset on my DR650 every few months so that it will show up on my wifi to auto-download to my synology nas.
Do we know if the new LTE model and extra module will be upgraded to 5G....Huge problem now finding 4G cards through Tmobile...ATT or others that will work. The 5g/4g combo cards don't work...per blackvue
Still no release as of yet, but I sure am hoping soon!
I have the BlendMount bracket. Will the BlendMount bracket work with the new models?
I believe so
Back in like 2015 I used two blackvue 2ch cams to make a "4ch" setup but stopped because it was such a power drain. I got a few videos on my channel showing the setup and video samples.
And hey will you ask them to put geofencing to allow you to have parking mode turn off automatically at home? Been asking for it for years, maybe they'll listen to you. 😂
haha I’ve asked for that too :)
@@VortexRadar btw check out my pet rescue video posted this week. I got interviewed for a story from a local news station that'll be up later this week. Finally had a case worth sharing.
To me 4 channel is pretty much a must for protection surveillance.
I currently have the front rear setup and don't know how much longer I can do without 360 coverage.
Side access feels too naked & vulnerable.
@@mikeprice8307 I'd like to go back to all 4 directions, would love a 5th interior too. But parking mode is such a big drain especially if you use blackvue cloud, which I do. My 92ah dual purpose battery still struggles to power my 2ch blackvue in the winter thru the 9 hour time limit I set. Although I have a very short commute so a lot of it is because I don't drive enough to keep it charged always.
@@integralcamerasolutions my B120x will do 13 hours for surely with 2 hours shown remaining in the app for a 970x LTE.
I'm sure I'll need an extra battery for the other 2 ch. I may not get it due to lack of area in challenger small side glass. Mine is tinted and I don't want to ruin my panel with adhesive or marks trying to remove it, and dont want to ruin my tint.
With that bit rate they need dual sd card or a move to ssd to support 3 cams. hope they choose ssd,
Why? Have you run the numbers? There are multiple other cams that use high bitrates on MicroSD cards. Say you’re doing 500 MB/min. Cards these days can easily handle the 8 MB/s necessary for that. Many cards do over 100 MB/s now. Why are SSD’s needed exactly?
so... the camera has LTE and you can connect other blackvue cameras to it, could I also connect other devices and piggy back off the lte connection?
You got it. That’s the original idea. It’s just adding lore dashcams that’s new.
There late need to update LTE to 5G
Yeah don’t they mainly all use the same sensors? So how much better can it be? Look forward to your review.
Different processing per company, no HDR, they have the best cloud features, I like their parking mode, etc. Sensor selection is just one piece of the puzzle.
Lol! Their video quality might give the Thinkware 3000 a run for its money but i doubt it will outshine the VIOFO A229 Pro! Blackvue is content to push their bread and butter pay-per-use features!
@@BacnowI agree. Going with the new sensor, better aperture, and higher bit rate will make a huge difference, but probably not as good as the new Viafos, especially if they aren’t utilizing HDR. For me…it doesn’t have to be quite as good as Viafo - if they can even get 90% of the way there and have a better feature set - I’m sold.
but is an ALPR like axon cameras?
No of course not
a month after I bought 3 of them. BV should have a trade up option.
That would be nice, yeah. You can always resell yours online as an alternative. There’s a number of good places for that.
@@VortexRadar yeah, I get that, as long as all the accessories are the same. that could be definitely be an option.
For sure. Sounds like they've got an updated mount to accommodate moving the larger lens farther away from the windshield if needed, but the cables are all still the same. I need to go through my closet and start clearing out old models too, haha.
Im looking for a dash cam or surveillance cam that will work similar to the Tesla Sentry. Someone side swiped my car and I have no video evidence of that. I want a camera to record that now! Suggestions?????
Keep in mind their cloud plans are storage only not connectivity through a data plan....my LTE module did not include a blackvue sim card. Expensive to purchase and crazy expensive on their data plan...before you even get to these cloud plans. My LTE module is a doorstop unless I go with blackvue sim..
When is the review coming out?
Editing now and planning on finishing and releasing later this week. :)
@@VortexRadar Thank you! Excited can’t wait to hear your feedback 👍
Nice interview,The biggest issue is are they gonna fix the app? used it again last month when my u3000 randomly died. How will they how will handle the heat ? I know they're not the best for the heat. So what was the point releasing 3 new dashcams this year if they just gonna put out another 3 a year later? Is it still be gonna power hungry?
App works fine just use WiFi mode and dont log in
@row0111 it doesn't it's iffy at best even worst when you're in cloud mode sometimes it will lose connection doesn't help they're #1 thing is the cloud which missing other features
Very nice, but not something kamkar will be able to run, CUZ he have a couple of other hobbies that eat into his pension 😟
I am mostly looking to see additional INFO and footage on the box system, CUZ that is for sure what i would go for, and i am happy to see BV have not made a really small remote box, now i just hope it is big for a reason.
Well, only one camera per account for the free plan is disappointing. I have a DR900S-2CH in one car and was going to get another Blackvue system, but $6.99/month for two on the Lite Plan is more than I want to spend. Might just go with a different manufacturer.
You can avoid that by creating a second account with a different email address. 😉
@@VortexRadar, that trick is an oldie but a goodie, and is one contributor to my 700+ total accounts on teh interwebs! 😄 I hadn't yet investigated whether they'd allow that.
Fix the bloody app. Listen to the users or will be the last time using this. The apps too complex and does not allow simple use of replaying the videos wth
Does it have parking mode ✌️🇨🇦
You bet
Of course an excellent video; however, I can't help but think that this camera is just playing "catchup" with other Sony Starvis 2 sensor cameras. The DR970X is an absolute disaster. f1.7 is pretty legit.
Too late, I'm invested on Viofo, especially the 139 PRO.
You’re not missing anything! Viofo image quality is unmatched!
@@Bacnow Thank you.
"A lot of the complaints from the DR970X"
What a great way to 💩 on the company
Oh I’ve been clear about the DR970X’s issues both publicly and privately haha. The cloud features are great, but the video quality is lacking.
@@VortexRadar Now the LTE module doesn't work with the latest T Mobile sim card....maddening. They should just let you go to the cloud by setting up your phone as a hotspot.
Bullshi I just get 970x model now u telling me u release i new model😡😡
It works great when they build it right, but naturally I have one that doesn't work at all and for 2 years, the company can't be bothered to help, all I get is STATIC, so don't buy their products, they don't even have any offices in the country at all !!!
Try doing a factory reset on it. I have to do a factory reset on my DR650 every few months so that it will show up on my wifi to auto-download to my synology nas.
Blackvue "So we launch DR970X Plus camera , with a special price of $89327432 "
Huh?
