- Last week we tested the new G5 Dome Ultra and G5 Turret Ultra inside, but that didn't show the full capabilities of this camera... so today we're putting this new Unifi offering out in the elements to see how it performs in the harder lighting conditions against the G5 Flex, G4 Bullet, G5 Bullet, G5 Pro, AI Bullet and AI Pro!

Thank you for your calm, clear and informative videos :)
Thanks for the kind feedback!
For some reason the EU Ubiquiti store had this camera for 80.- (now 130 again) so it was a no brainer when the G4 instant is 99, G5 flex and bullet 130. Looking forward to install it outdoors.
Now that's a deal! Enjoy the project!
@@DPCTechnology Thanks :) And thank you for your video, helped me decide which one to get for outdoors. Only worked with some G4 instants installed on the house walls. The turret will be further out and permanent so it had to be a PoE one!
very informative, Clay. And excellent video editing too. thank you. :-)
Thanks for the kind feedback
Thanks for doing these reviews. I've thought about setting up a test board, but your videos make this somewhat redundant ;) I did grab both Ultras and look forward to testing them at a client.
Let me know how it goes!
This is a great video thanks so much, I bought 3x G5 Turrets and an NVR which came with a free G4 Bullet - the added comparison of the Turret and G4 Bullet is so helpful
I appreciate the feedback!
Very nice series comparing cameras 👍🏼
Thanks for the kind feedback
Thank you, very helpful
I'm glad you liked it!
Great review, thanks!
Quick question: can you enable IR recording without the IR lights on the turret? I'd like to use a separate IR transmitter.
Yes you can, it's an option in settings when you click the gear icon.
I like theae comparisons. Im new to the ubiquiti platform, and its nice to see these reviews. But i must admit. The inverted video of you is triggering my OCD lol
I know.. I'll stop it..
I think they are great cameras for the buck. Nice video
I'm considering putting an AI360 on the corner of my building under the eaves - Any thoughts on weather resistance, Night performance or potential AI detection improvements to make it in line with the AI bullet?
It would be fine under the eves and I would use the junction box accessory ($49) to really lock it in.. The thing about the 360 against a wall is that u loose 50% of the coverage (just a wall). I don't think the 360s will get the face and LP detections because they are not zoomed in enough to make an identification. I could be wrong and it could be added in a future update..
DIY homeowner here in Phoenix. I'm installing several cameras under a patio cover. Ubiquiti indicates 60CM clearnace from walls. How critical is that measurement? Can we cut that down to 16" or so? Also, one of the cameras may approx 24" aft and to the side (Think 45 degrees) of an LED can. Is it possible that the LED can will wash out the image?
Would really like to see you include the G4 Pro in your comparisons. Ubiquiti is currently supplying these free with any UNVR Pro purchase. Do you have any thoughts on how the G4 Pro compares to the G5 series?
It was in my all cameras compared video a few months ago. It's a great camera and I like the zoom feature and optics. It's overpriced compared to the rest but for free it is an AWESOME camera. I have one on the test rig but dont always include it to make the videos shorter...
@@DPCTechnology I just installed one and I'm a bit uneasy about the night image quality compared to the much cheaper G5 Bullet/Turret/Flex. Meaning, I'm wondering if I should just sell the G4 Pro and replace it with something less than half the cost or maybe just switch to a G5 Pro (which I don't own to compare).
@@urbanawoodproject3123 Is that promo still live? If so? Glad if so, glad to hear it l… I got delayed in getting my order submitted with some 🐕 rescue emergencies
I’m surprised that’s you didn’t include the G4 & G5 Dome’s as they are very comparable to the turret ultra
I did in the first part (last week's video). I did not include them in this outside comparison.
Cant wait to see your video when you upgrade your front door to the new UA-Intercom
I can never find one in stock!!
In Stock bought 2 😌
If they had put the connector on the camera like on the other older cams, it would have been my absolute favorite (bought 2 turret and 1 dome recently). Those connectors with "rat-tail" is really annoying when you want to put them outside as replacement for existing G4 bullets or G4 dome. I have had to buy the conduit boxes but I was really disappointed that they did not add a rubber grommet that fits the smaller hole on it. I know its meant to run conduit pipes but I dont have those so I probably need to make a 3d model and 3d print those myself instead.
Btw I wish they would make that adjustment for IR level available on multiple cameras as sometimes when its foggy, I need to to go each camera to switch it to IR off and it takes a while on 14 cameras :)
What is the internet bandbwidth of your internet. Am considering how to performance on viewing the playback or realtime video. Will it lagging ?
I have no problem at all but we have Gigabit Internet.
The 80 odd degree FOV of the G5 Bullet is a deal breaker in many cases. I want/need the full 90° when using cameras or blind spots appear. The downer for the flex is their mounting is flimsy as heck. Don't get me started on the cheap-n-nasty screws UBNT supply that are impossible to use and the narrow holes stop the use of standard screws. G5Flex also needs a good dose of sealant to make outdoor. The G5 range night time performance is close to the G4 Pro, same tricks needed though, turn off the IR and runn passive. I don't use G3 or G4 anymore regardless of the flog-off sales. The other WOFTAM camera is the G4 PTZ that is a very expensive manual driver. The lack of auto features that cheap 100 dollar eBay PTZ's can do sucks balls. The AI range is $$$ but the Facial Recognise is becoming quick seller and same as the number plate. The sucker is the difference between the AI bullet Vs the AI Pro, the slightly cheaper one is crap at detections, go the Pro.
The PTZ does have some really good auto features now (it took 2 years before it got them). I think it was a good value in December when they were $900 but there is rumblings of a new Ultra PTZ coming soon..
@@DPCTechnology I just checked on a clients PTZ, only person tracking. The biggest feature would be when a fixed camera detects something, the PTZ (already knows the location of the fixed camera) turns and throws another view at the triger.
Price, they are still selling for $4,000 here in Aus. 4 grand for a very limited PTZ compared to a camera well under 500 bucks.
@@bentheguru4986 That would be a cool feature. We will see what the Ultra PTZ goes for but im expecting to be a much greater value.. Only time will tell.. They way overengineered the G4PTZ, its build and optics are probably worth the price tag but the slow software development definitely hurt it's popularity...
@@DPCTechnology If the older G4 is sitting at 4 grand price, not getting any warm-n-fuzzy feelings on new option being any cheaper.
Just ordered 2 to replace my G3 Flex's
Nice!
With bullets I'm constantly cleaning off the spiderweb, with turrets never had that issue. Hoping for an AI Turret.
That's a good point they are definitely less likely to get them
Same here, always seem to have something build a nest on the camera housing.
Thanks for the review
the image quality is much better on the 5th generation but the audio is really bad compared to the 4th generation
My Audio reviews leave a lot to be desired IMHO, everyone's conditions/needs are different. I probably need to come up with a more comprehensive and measurable way to do it..
I've been wondering why these 2 new ultra cameras cost less in EU (100€) than in US 129$. Usually dollars turn to euros, or more. Always been the other way around. Maybe these cameras are aimed also for the less developed countries in EU.
Interesting
the camera sensor does not like led fluorescent lights, cause camera picture roll, check for your self
Will do
i have G4 Bullet because i have IR extender on it. That is not option for G5 Bullet or any Dome/turret
They need larger sensors. Hikvision ColorVu are better than all of these from an image quality point of view.
Im sure they will come. But will be more expensive than the Chinese stuff. But not on banned list.
I would love an AI turret pro which is just an AI pro stuffed into a turret housing
Me too!!
A PTZ Turret just leaked online 😁
I know 😀😀😀
@@DPCTechnology i knew that you know 😁😁😁😁
@@Timichaud 😀🤣😂
Do they have a low light camera that turns night into day ? Camera's that use IR are awful !
Not yet..
So tired of the new shopping model. Make a low stock to to have the secondary market prices be double.
Yeah, they have really struggled to keep up with demand on these. I don't think it's intentional, I think they are just really popular. It usually resolves itself after a few months, we shall see.
Is there anything they do exceptionally well ? From what I have seen I would not understand why anyone would have any interest in them. Especially because of how expensive they are.
All I care about is image quality. Weather resistance and what functions it's got. Going into a detail if a cam can pick up lens flare is BS imo.
The reason I point that out is that traditionally when these cams are in direct sunlight (or any high contrast conditions) they suffer. The newer generations handle those conditions much better.
out of stock
Yeah that is going to be the issue..
Horrible !
Thanks for the feedback!
Let me guess, paid by ubiquiti to advice us to replace old to new cameras ?
I bought the cameras (every one) and all the equipment. Never been paid a cent by Ubiquiti.. but thanks for asking...
It saves everyone money to compare them ourselves.
I have been waiting for a unifi Protect Turret for some time. All other brands have one, and customers are wanting that style.
So now I Know how it compares to the rest of the lineup!
You must be new to his content. He’s never shied away from telling the truth about the unifi lineup or ubiquiti. Not everyone is a paid actor like you seem to think
I refuse to buy this Chinese spy equipment.
