    Great overview thanks for uploading this for the community.
    I'm really glad that the AI is starting to come into these cams.
    What I would really like is to record the speed of the cars approaching me from behind recorded. If Nextbase had this then it would be a sure win. If this capability was in the Thinkware u3000 then I wouldn't even look at any other manufacturer! Just my thought....

    I got tired of the IQ solution. I opted for the Viofo with the second generation Starvis. While making the decision, I learned a great deal of why waiting wasn't worth it. Thanks man!

    Nice summary of the dash cams. I will check our your individual detailed vids soon. My biggest need is to finally get a dashcam system with reliable cloud/remote monitoring features. Companies like Blackvue would be better off perfecting their current cloud technology then send out newer models that are still buggy (who knows maybe they have finally done that). Regardless, I have one of their flagship models (970 with separate LTE box) that has been nothing but trouble so finally just disconnected it. I am anxious to replace it with one of these new models that actually works as advertised! Very curious what your favorite model this year is for reliable cloud (remote monitoring).

    Still can't beat the Viofo 229 Pro with Starvis 2 on both front and rear, the front is 4K and rear is 2K, includes polarizer and 256 GB SD card, for £245, and another £18 for HK4 hardwire kit & fuses, no subscription, no cloud, all local storage, and the video quality blows away these £700+ dashcams.

    ATTN: Vortex...
    How about a video highlighting your viewers installs for detectors, anti-lidar and dash cam systems. I think it could be a great series of videos. Currently I'm making custom brackets for my vehicle which will now have 6 cameras decently hidden. I'm very creative in how I do it and what I want from such things.
    I now have a Vantrue N4pro front which has rear cabin view, I have the Vantrue's rear camera facing my front cabin inside that can view all 3 front windows and dashboard/turn signal use. I still have a Garmin 65 running the rear window and a pair of the MT1 system running my side windows.
    At this point I feel like I'm very well covered without trusting cameras mounted on the exterior. It's also installed as stealth as I could on my own.
    I'd love to show my ideas I came up with to install as I bet other viewers have done something similar. Every vehicle could be simple or complicated...you can install temporarily or permanent hidden...to each their own.
    I'd love to see you ask for and highlight viewer installs. Rock on Vortex!

    Would really like to see an evaluation on the Gentex Rear view mirror dash cam. This will be great for the off road community where the rear tire carrier with additional accessories block the standard rear view mirror. Hope the Gentex rear view mirror has the garage door feature found on many factory rear view mirrors. Thanks for sharing.

      Some good options for that would be the Thinkware U3000 or the Viofo A229 Pro.
      The new Viofo is still ironing out some bugs though.
      The A129 Pro is a little outdated today, but was a good 4K dashcam in its time. Perhaps you were thinking A139 Pro? That’s a better option, but it’s only 1080p in the rear.

    If I want a dash cam for a truck that mostly stays parked in the front of my house to detect license plates / people checking doors, what would you recommend? I'm looking for something that's 'always on' with a low power draw that maybe only records motion, when parked. We have out of state gangs that canvas probably once a quarter and sadly a lot of people leave their doors unlocked. It'd be a quasi surveillance truck to see what the home security cameras can't quite make out.

    I have yet to see the perfect camera system. Personally I would like 8k camera system, that is outside 360. Sees in every direction as well as an internal camera. I want it to record gps location, date, time, speed and direction of vehicle. Including other info such as if lights were on or off, when brakes were applied/released. If turn signals are on or off and which one. As well as the amount of steering wheel turn. Full “black box” information.
    However for as long as we have had cameras out, and the fact we have cameras installed by the car makers for other reasons. Why haven’t car makers added video recording capability to the cameras we all ready have as an option?

    I see Blackvue uses H265 (HVEC). This is good for memory space but very bad for sharing. H265 is proprietary, not like H264 (AVC), and is very hard to find the right converter for us to convert H265 files to MP4, and be able to send the files to your insurance company or the cops.

    • @shubinternet
      @shubinternet Před 6 měsíci +1

      H.265 is a standard, just like H.264 is a standard. Nothing proprietary with either of them. The issue is that fewer programs support H.265, even though it is a standard that has existed for years and gives you better quality video with smaller file sizes, and that's really important when we talk about things like 4K dashcams.

    • @VortexRadar
      @VortexRadar  Před 6 měsíci +2

      It supports both codecs so if you’re worried about compatibility you can run H264, albeit at a reduced bitrate.

    • @asterixky
      @asterixky Před 6 měsíci +1

      @@shubinternet If it's a standard that has been out for some time, you would think every converter would support H265. I have a home security system with H265, and had to download many programs that say to convert H265, but were incapable of doing it. Wasted some money in the process. Please Google "is h265 proprietary". Manufacturers like Blackvue should offer the converter program with there product.

    3840x2160 = 4K (approx)
    1920x1080 = 2K
    1024x768 = 1K? I guess but it's pointless assigning these things in retrospect.
