This is the last Vegan Bacon recipe I'm going to make... its that good. I know its time consuming, but are you going to try this?
would this bacon make a delicious BLT? OK I made the recipe after writing everything down, and YES it's delicious
for a BLT. Thank you, thank you. I miss the bacon so much. I will be adding it to my salads along with croutons as well.
Did you season this batch?
I would try this but where do I find your recipe?
Absolutely!
I wish I could. I'm gluten intolerant. Looks good though.
man i'm not vegan in the slightest, but i love seeing what you can do with vegan ingredients and i think it's amazing. food is food, if it tastes good that's what matters the most.
well to me not supporting the torture and killing of animals is what matters most so all these replacements are really awesome to see. pritty much anything can be made vegan and then no more animals would need to suffer extram torment as they do now ^.^
Mud brain I'm on the same train. It be cool to have something bacon like that's not bacon
@@kirill2525
I don't understand how people can't understand that the torture and murder for something to put on a dinner plate when it's not a matter of survival is not a good thing! There's a book by Robert Heinlein - Farnham's Freehold - that brought this issue into my consciousness almost half a century ago. I usually counter an offensive commenter with a simple reply... I'd rather eat long pig. And I would prefer to remove a brain damaged human from the planet than to kill a pig, cow, chicken, etc. It'd make the world a better place to live.
@@CallieCatCuddles people just dont have the kind of empathy we do. also cognitive dissonence, they pretend to not know whats going on and will refuse to see how they suffer cuz they dont like thinking about it. some even told me that they dont wana see it cuz then they will feel bad for doing it. they are all hyppocritical. they will get upset when some one yells at a dog but dont care about animals getting tortured if they are in a body of a pig
@@kirill2525 we get it you’re vegan 👍
this is epic but I'm way too lazy to make this. I hope one day he has his own food line in grocery stores
I was thinking the same thing lol like this looks amazing but I’m way too lazy. Really hope he has his own food line one day!
@@RobinOrzo exactly
I just don't have the time after working 60 hours a week. I wish vegan food this good was actually available in stores and restaurants.

I love bacon, but I'd try this.
But also sometimes it's really worth it to take the time and energy.
Plant based alchemy!! You're a Rockstar 🌱❤️
Thank you!!!!
This could have been his CZcams name..”Plant Based Alchemist” if he ever needed a fresh change
It must be awesome being Monica, having hubby do all of the cooking and coming up with cool creations. That's a sweet deal.
Not a vegan, but I'm always amazed at the level of artistry that goes into creating these meatless alternatives. It's beyond what even great chefs do.
And some alternatives leave me scratching my head wondering how it could work, this wheat bacon is one of those I see and think that it makes sense, flavor wise. I'd definitely try eating it! Making it... probably not. 🙂
Real talk--you need to get with a plant based meat company. I really think your ideas would go far! Impossible, are you watching??
This looks so so good. 🤤🤤🤤
Hahah I really should! This would be the bacon that needs made
I do rice all time, for years, I am mind blown up here on gulf Mark
I've been waiting years for this announcement from him. You've got this Sauce Stache, bring that flavor and cruelty free creativity to the world! :)
Omg yes this!!!
Yes, maybe you could work with Impossible or Beyond!
mmmm bacon without the needless animal suffering? yes please! Cheers Mark!
Thank you!!! Cheers!!
Not always the case.
Yeah no I prefer eating like a normal human than wasting 1.5 days making bacon 💀💀
@@Dante_themaninthemirror You eat bacon from a 1.5 days old pig? weirdo
@@Dante_themaninthemirror Define normal... artisan foods take time, and this doesn't only apply to vegan food. We should have more appreciation for the process behind food creation whereas most people are so removed from reality they think food just happens and miraculously arrives in a supermarket.
That looks so damn good and amazing!! Similar to Renee's comment, I think you might consider creating your own plant based meat brand!
I agree!
its not meat if its plant ..duh!!
@@SPAMLANWALKER Repeat after me: Plant. Based. Meat.
Seriously! Please, someone start a brand that makes this so I can throw money at you. Thanks!
This looks brilliant! I love your bacon series - so inspirational!
I also just wanted to share a new bacon idea with you that is incredible! I combined your daikon and rice paper recipes by first lightly cooking the daikon then wrapping it in a half rice paper sheet (soaked in the bacon sauce)! It is honestly the most perfect vegan bacon I've ever had (with the straight daikon being the previous best of course)! I really can't recommend it enough!
I haven't tried this new wheat bacon method yet, but I feel the daikon/rice paper combo might hold up to it!
It does look amazing!
I wonder, if instead of using liquid smoke, you could actually smoke the block after steaming? Maybe even salt and airdry it
I bet you totally could!!! That would be incredible. I think making sure that it stays humid during the smoking or it would dry out for sure.
@@SauceStache what about adding a bit of liquid smoke to the water used for steaming? That might enhance the smoky flavour!
@@SauceStache If you use an electric smoker you can keep trays of water in with it, you can also do it at a very low temp so it doesn't heat it much but still has lots of smoke. I've smoked cheese in the past and that's how I've accomplished it, so I bet you could use the same principal to do this.
@@ritacordeiro2097 genius
That is reaaaaaally clever! I hope you get the funding and create your own brand. Just remember to export to Romania too 😁
Thank you!!!!!
Could you jump in seafood series next? maybe crab meat as given in Chinese buffets (crab sticks), more shrimp 🍤, naruto 🍥(that fish cake with the squiggly red pattern in the middle 🍥) for Ramen, maybe octopus? 🙏🙏🙏🙏
I feel so blessed to work in a restaurant so I have the equipment to make something like this at my disposal.
Wowowow I’m going to have to try this! A lot of steps, but it doesn’t even seem that complicated. I’m so curious about the flavor!
I've been subscribed to you for a long time now. I'm not vegan but I have a friend who has to eat like a vegan somewhat and I found you through a keto channel. I've seen some of your videos making bacon but I think this is the most amazing one you've ever done. I really honestly have to say you are very intelligent to go and do this I am blown away. This is amazing. ❤️🙂

Love the whole process you have shown. This is one I will make. Thanks for all the hard work!
That's completely amazing. Thank you so much for sharing this. I love your videos a lot!
you sir have outdone yourself with this one! Probably still going to do mostly starchwater bacon because what else to do with all that starch from my seitan sessions.. but I'm def gonna try this, too!
Congrats on 500k subs….keep doing what you’re doing! 😁🥦
I love your creativity and patience! You are a true master, and Laird!
hahahah thank you so much!!!
A lot of fun to watch. Thanks! You also have to mention the cost savings since bacon is so pricey right now
oh really love your videos, very good ideas and can see your passion for food, thats great! Thx:)
I made this bacon, it was really good! I didn't have quite all of the ingredients and I messed up some of the steps but it was nevertheless really fun and tasty. It reminded me of rye chips, which was always my favorite part of chex mix.
wow this is so creative and looks very convincing. I will try it.
Another great recipe. Another great sponsor. You, Sir… You de 👏🏽li 👏🏽ver !
This is the second time I’ve seen someone “wash” flour like this… I’m like, how the hell do y’all figure this ish out…. It’s a WOW for me man… just wow 🤩
This practice is centuries old from ancient China, they accidentally discovered it while making noodles. Popular as early Buddhist cuisine :)
@@Morgana1995 oh wow. Thanks for sharing
This one came out so awesome!
Nice flex with the deli slicer!
No doubt anyone making this at home with a knife will get close enough, but the even slices you got work great for video
hahahah I didnt mean it to be a flex haha but I have to use it from time to time for the write off hahaha ;)
Wow, that seem extraordinary. Monica is like "is this real bacon?". I would like to try it at least once. I guess if you can make a big batch and preserve it wouldn't be so much hustle. Thank you for the recipe 👍👌
totally geniune reaction too
Cmon guys
It cant taste like meat if there is no meat in it
Once elon musks neuralink is commercialy avaible maybe
But without messing with the brain that DOES NOT taste like bacon
thanks for the vid sauce!
Mount Everest! Congratulations on the journey. Truly inspiring cooking.
Honestly, it doesn't even look that long of a process! Definitely trying this one!
i think he just says that because you have to wait overnight and some people are just not patient enough for really good recipes :)
👏👏👏Yeah you out thought everyone on this technique!!! It will cook more evenly and be faster than waiting for the large circular pour to cook up multiple times the old way which takes standing over the stove for hours. Now to save up for a slicer:)
Looks delicious! Thanks for keeping at it.

Hey Stache this looks great! Is there any chance you know what the macros of this would be?
Congrats on half a million!
Now THAT is what I’m talking about! Looks incredible!
Absolute Genius, you're truely The Baconator... Can't stop thinking BLT... Thankyou...
Ok, I was soooo excited to make this. I followed every step. It looked good, and the texture was good, but the flavor was super mild. I think it’s mostly because when I was incorporating the seasonings into the gluten balls, a lot of the yummy liquid smoke and soy sauce was left behind. It just didn’t incorporate. Any suggestions?
Oh man! Was it too wet?
I hope you try again!
I had a similar experience. At the very least, I think it needs a good deal more salt, and since soy sauce was a main salt component, yours would be super under salted. I didn't have liquid smoke either, and I might get it for next time, but I'm also gonna pump up the umami flavors by 50% or so, and I might add more sugar to get better browning.
Ine is add way more soy or marmite or whatever, then if it's too wet add a tablespoon of pea protein or similar powder until it's right consistency
I love bacon.... sooooo good. Thanks for your recepe. We all love it🥰
Thank you soo much!! you're going to love this one!
Seriously impressive creation. You must have laid awake many nights figuring this one out.
Tnx for an amazing video! I wonder how the starch stay white and not colored red because of the beet powder after hours of cooking 🤔
"thats starch right there"... and mostly water ;) loved your video man. Fascinating.
It looks wonderful! Thank you so much
Thank you so much!!!
wow intense!! Awesome!
Mary it came out so good!!! You can cook it soft for the people that like the chew, or you can cook it crispy for people that want the crisp! BUT it has the in-between. Im stoked
That is awsome. And also not too complicated. 👍
Your quest is EPIC!
I looove your commitment to making the best plant-based bacon and this one is truly wild! You have absolutely outdone yourself! Plus, I love the fact you used so much of your expertise and past experiments to really make it wildly realistic with mostly easy to find ingredients - just incredible!
Aww thank you Margaret!!! This one was it! It was so good
i think id wanna try this with that vegan pork bouillon from the asian market in the meat half at some point just to see what it does. im excited to try this one day soon! it doesnt have all the scientific ingredients so i feel like i can actually do it lolol
You need your own company and sell this goodness!!
That beautiful. I don't comment enough, but I watch all your videos. Incredible work really. If you get heme it would be wild.
The best vegan bacon I’ve tried is from the UK brand ‘This’ and their ‘This Isn’t Bacon’. It’s incredible!
I love this isn't bacon but it definitely lacks the crunch and the chewiness that these recipes have. Vivera is another good UK brand for bacon. Can't get enough of it.
if you ever get to NYC, there's a vegan place in Brooklyn called The V Spot. Their vegan bacon is phenomenal. It feels like crispy bacon and tastes like pork.
I hope in the future there will be saucestache brand vegan "butchers" items in my grocery store! I'm buying what your selling man! 👍🏻👍🏻😁🥳
Wow, awesome !! Thank you !!
Love your channel but sad that you don't deliver your amazon items to Canada😥😥😥

I'm gonna post about this on Instagram and try the recipe one day. I just got accepted to Panera bread today (dream job at dream pay). I can't wait to work and get paid for cooking and talking. You inspired me so much to cook vegan meats. I hope Bill burr sees this video too. You got everyone excited, especially when you said this is the last bacon video. I'm so excited. I also want a meat cutter like yours to make bason for people with nice cuts like you. I wanna be like you, except I only like make video under certain circumstances. Also I don't want to be a CZcamsr, but I do want to cook and do a Instagram for my vegan cooking journey to inspire more chefs. There are some types of mushroom which are PERFECT replacement for most meats and can be cooked the same way as bacon/steaks etc.

An artiste! Chefs kiss
I've done some research about the sponsor "Established Titles" and I can't say the information I've found is very flattering. I don't know how trustworthy the information I found is, so take this with a grain of salt.
The short story: it's a scam.
The long story: You aren't buying an actual piece of land. I'm not Scottish but I would guess they have similar laws as other countries. Where I live (EU) people outside of EU can't just buy piece of land or property without permission form the government.
There's no guarantee that they even own land in Scotland as the company is in Hong Kong. If they do own land in Scotland, they are "renting" it for you. Like a billboard is selling advertisement space on the billboard and not the actual billboard itself.
They might plant a tree for you or they might not. If I wanted someone to plant a tree for me I would use some other service for that.
The title "Lord/Lady" you get is just as "real" as you printing your own PDF certificate proclaiming yourself as the "King of Mars".
Yeah its all for fun... so to clear some things up because I also like to do my own research.
I don't consider it a scam as its meant as a fun gift or keepsake and I believe that most people understand that to be so.
They do own land in Scotland that is registered to them and you can visit the land. You are buying the land from them, but under law, it's considered a souvenir plot of land and is representative. So you own the land, you're not entitled to it, they can resell it, they can do whatever they want with it.
They do not plant trees directly but partner with 1 tree planted and trees for the future. Which is what most companies do when they say there are planting 1 tree with every order. They pay other companies to plant the actual trees.
Sure you can print your own PDF and it will have similar legal standing, but what is the fun in that. Personally I enjoyed it.
The WWE is super fake... but they still have thousands of fans that enjoy the heck out of it
@@SauceStache I totally understand that this is simply for fun but I would like them to be more open about it.
They are basically the middleman between you and nonprofit organizations making a quick buck.
If you wanted to plant a tree it would be just better to donate the money directly to those charities and if you wanted an actual piece of land or a title from Scotland, well, that would be a much longer process.
Then they also have those "fake" (at least I assume those are fake) reviews of people using their title and getting better service at hotels etc.. Where I'm from there are laws and registries for title holders and the tax for titles can range from $100 to $50 000.
If you are aware of everything related to it and are fine about it then good for you. It's a fun "item". But I'm sure there are plenty of people who buy it without fully understanding what they are actually buying.
czcams.com/video/nIjkACB2Xqk/video.html Im just sharing this with everyone to get a second valid source with proof.
Great job Mark!
Could you try a rice flour seitan version for us celiac folks?
Great video. Thanks!
Great video, Mark, but I think I would have added a bit of black vinegar to the "meat" part of the bacon.
Hey Sauce Stache,
Do you use special olive oil?
Because of the low smoke point and the loss of the good healthy ingredients, I just wanted to know. Have you tried Alba-Oil from Sweden?
It’s Rapeseed Oil (Canola Oil) with a great butter flavor :)
I really love it for bacon like tofu and other stuff where I want to reduce transfats, but still love the taste of butter.
I‘m going to try this crazy bacon thanks for the content
Adam Ragusea did a video analyzing whether or not it's actually bad to cook with olive oil or extra virgin olive oil, and he concluded that it's not as big an issue as people seem to think. I started cooking with it and I agree, unless you're really going ham it's not going to create a ton of smoke
Please sell this one day 😭🙏I NEED it! But I don’t have confidence in my baking skills!😭
Sauce Stache v.s. Gaz Oakley's Seitan Bacon?! Washed v.s. VWG! The tofu & gluten one sounds great also! Will need to try both! Has made tempeh version, family liked.
It does have a lot of steps to it. I think if I were to make it I'd do multiple batches just to streamline the prep and the cleanup. It should do fine in the fridge or freezer for a while.
Definitely. Just no pint in doing this unless you do it in bulk and slice it up to freeze ready to fry
Man, Monica is just lovely. You guys make an adorable couple, congrats!
this is wild!! i love to see it
If you use gluten flour instead of washing the flour what should you use for the starch liquid that you top it with? I was thinking just corn starch and water?
Corn starch doesn't really firm up in the same way, it ends up more like a thick sauce/gravy. But something like potato starch or tapioca starch might work.
Totally... potato or tapioca... this is going to be very different if made entirely with gluten flour as you're not going to get the variations in texture! You might want to add starch directly to the fat and meat side... not sure of the measurements... but a decent amount in the fat side and a liter amount in the meat side... for the solid starch fat.. that might be tough!! Good luck and let me know if it works
This looks great!
How do you know someone is not a vegan? They'll tell you in the comment section of one of Sauce Stache's videos.
Looks amazing, I can't really imagine it tasting similar to bacon though hmm.
