      Not just in the long run, immediately it's less expensive. This took me maybe thirty minutes of labor for two pounds of pseuomeat that cost about $4 in ingredients. $2/lb is far cheaper than ground beef you buy at the store, to say nothing of the more expensive meat substitutes.

Thanks for making vegan look so easy as I thought it would be hard to do so! I was wondering if there was an ingredients list for the items used in this video? Thanks again for being a wondeful person and sharing your knowledge with us. 🤗

    • @machematix
      @machematix Před 3 lety +1

      There are much easier ways than his! His are next level! Most vegan food is as easy (or easier!) than most meat recipes. It's just making fake meat that gets complicated. If you're making fake ground beef (for bolognese or whatever), just use TVP and don't worry about the methyl cellulose etc... Personally, I use tvp soaked in beef stock or gravy powder, because I'm not a pure vegan, and replace the ground beef with that. It does have a bit of a different flavor but with plenty of other flavoring you can trick meat eaters into thinking it's 100% ground chuck steak.

    I have had a shapable mince that I’ve loved in the store, that has come in bags with coarse crumbs in it, so easy to just throw as much as I need into my airfryer, right from the freezer. It came in appr 2 lbs bags, but now it is more difficult to find and it comes in 1/3 size bags, and it’s more expensive, so I think I’d try making some of this up and freeze it in a large bag first, all crumbled up. many many years ago, I worked in a plant where methyl cellulose was made. While not poisonous, it's absent of nutrients. Birds would get in the warehouse.. and starve eating it. It's wood pulp - treated with highly caustic chemicals.. ground and washed.. dried packaged in 50 lb bags. Fun fact.. when the powder settles on stuff and moisture from the air combines with it.. it's a very slippery, snot like material. My little plant was called the snot factory.
