    I got me a mint 300 (2004) in the gorgeous blue. Picked it up last summer for just 2k. Previous owner (elderly gentleman) had it for last 7 years and only covered 3k miles per year going to local shops etc. It's in almost new condition and I bloody love it. I am very tempted to do the same as you but money is against me at the moment, maybe soon. Can't wait to see yours on completion. Good luck

      @@ot0442 probably because it’s a 200, not a 300 :) the 1gfe isn’t a very good platform for modifications.

    Fellow IS300 Manual swapped turbo owner here, gets expensive, my advice don't cheap out and do it right 1st time, they'll be lots of headaches along the way. Like ya say get ya self a daily, I got a IS200 sportcross for that, oh and re ya stage 1, Upgrade ya anti roll bars whilst doing all ya suspension. They make a big difference.

    For that r154 make sure it's freshened up and built with marlin crawler components if you're shooting for 600whp also I'm running a stage 3.5 drift motion clutch rated at 650whp and its great does bite a little hard since it is a 6puck but overall normal pedal feel

    Nice work! It is always good to make a plan and write it all down with number$! Just bought my 2004 Is300 Oct 2020 it still has less than 63,000km or like 40,000Miles! I will be watching your video's for sure. I would like 400whp eventually. nothing too crazy...well maybe 500whp lol. Cheers from Canada.

    A good budget way to beef up the bottom end is to use the 2jz ge non vvti bottom end from an older sc300 or gs300 as they have gte rods and put the 2jz ge vvti head on the non vvti bottom end. This is my project right now and if you can find a deal on a 2jz ge vvti and non vvti engine you can build the engine in your garage and have the is300 as a daily till your ready to swap the combined 2jz ge engine. There's also a couple videos on CZcams doing this build which I think would get you to 600 whp. I know there are people making that kind of power on 2jz ge non vvti engines.

      I’ve been thinking about this over the last few days and I think it’s a fantastic idea! It would certainly keep the cost way down. I can use a GTE head gasket and ARP head studs, with a turbo kit and a decent exhaust system and fuelling I’m guessing 700-800hp would be feasible. I’ll look further into it! Thank you!

      @@shizukesajdm no problem, rad industries also did a video on this build and gives some good insight. But ya I think this is definitely the most economical way to make good power out of the 2jz since the gtes are getting a little out of hand. I got my non vvti by trading a comic book for it and then paid 500 for the vvti ge and then got a Toyota gte headgasket with arp headstuds and then driftmotion sells an oil feed line for the vvti gear

      @@jicez6649 The only issue I see is pistons. They’re still weak in the non vvti ge engines and I don’t think there’s anyway they’ll take 600 wheel. Piston rings will need changing at the very least.

      @@shizukesajdm the pistons are different from the gte but very strong, you might have done this already but Google NAT Bible and you will find lots of knowledge on people that have made great power with the non vvti bottom end, NA supra and sc300 guys have been doing great things with the non vvti ge for a while. If your going to take out the pistons anyways you could also just find a 2jz Block or junkyard vvti 2jz engine and replace the rods and pistons with your choice of options, giving you a strong bottom end that you could drop right into the is300. Looking forward to your build!

      @@shizukesajdm i actually am half way through my suspension. I have the front in full polyurethane from figs and i have my tein flex z coilovers arriving next week. then its full poly and adustable arms in the rear and brakes. So still alot to do for my phase 1

      @@robie7587 Nice man! We’re in the same boat then. I’ve only done coilovers, front lower ball joints and RCAs, ready for the LS400 callipers I bought. My front lip arrived yesterday and I’m waiting for my Greddy RS Revolution to arrive but everywhere is out of stock at the moment. What exhaust are you going with?

    Another option for the engine, the most cost effective option I believe, is keeping the GE VVTi head from the IS and swapping the block out for an older GE non-VVTi block. The non-VVTi 2JZ-GEs have the same, beefier internals as the GTE. I'm not sure about your market, but in the US, GTEs are typically 5,000+ USD versus a non-VVTi GE which is likely no more than 1500-2000 USD (Definitely could be had for less from a part out). With head studs, GTE head gasket, and the head resurfaced, you'd likely be good to go. This is what I have my eyes on for future plans. Definitely no harm in doing a fresh build if you're willing to spend the money though.

    This was what I had in mind to get an IS300 but due to my young age, I couldn't get insurance in my budget nor I could afford a is300 as they are quite expensive and rare to come by also I needed somthing for daily that sounds good, and for me is200 was the only option I did get bmw e46 but its more expensive to maintain so I'm selling it only had it for 3 weeks, before that my daily was a 2002 toyota corolla 1.4 so the is200 is big upgrade for me.

      The IS200 is a fantastic car! Highly underrated. In the future you can always add a supercharger and additional mods to get 250hp!

      @@shizukesajdm Looking back at this comment, I realise I am following your exact footsteps a few months later. After getting my IS200 installed the japspeed exhaust, did the dash lights. Almost a year later, I bought an IS300 now as well, hoping to do a turbo build later on in the future. Hopefully more content will come again, I've missed you.

    All is200/300 tezzas look amazing with xxrs on a trd side skirts and rear and a v1 or v2 front are amazing I suggest you try that🤙

      Still would have had to change the gearbox anyway. Also, this one is in way better condition than the 200 I had :) so either way it was the right decision.

    I´ve ordered CE28SL´s for my sportcross in 17x9 +45 and I want to do the ls400 brake conversion but not sure if it will fit :P I'm hyped for you though, looks like this will be a quality build!

    Nice, i love the IS platform and i think it is way too underrated. One question though, why are you doing this? I mean i get that it is awesome. But what are your plans with it eventually, are you going to race it, drift it or chase low 0-60 speeds?

      No, probably not 😂 but it will gradually increase in power. I’m not going to go from 210hp to 600whp. I will go from 210hp to 300whp first with a turbo conversion. Then I’ll build the engine.

      @@Ghosty-RC Yeah they’re not fast cars out of the factory. But with a turbo kit and ECU alone you can get 350whp :) that’ll probably be something I do before I build the engine!

      De rust the nuts and bolts from your car, before you put them back on.

      @@Ghosty-RC I gave the bolts a quick blast with the wire brush drill attachment. I plan on replacing all the old bolts before the end of the year 👍🏻
      Also, don’t get an eBay turbo kit. It’s not worth the risk. For a proper turbo and Link ECU you’re talking £6000.

      You just have to be patient and wait for one to show up on Autotrader :) There were a few silver IS300 sedans last time I looked, last week.

      I sold it. In hindsight, I wish I’d have kept it to daily drive, but I needed the money to pay for the IS300 at the time. I might sell my Yaris T-Sport and buy another IS200 as a daily.
