Legendary cars and legendary drivers from a legendary time.
We'll never have something like Group B ever again.

Henry Toivonen was Finnish, regarded as one of the greats by his peers. Quite atypical Finn, bold and boisterous with fiery passion. His main fault really was that he didn't know any other speed than "as fast as possible".

They have regulations in order to form specific classes in racing and rallying and also due to safety, but rules are way more strict in motorsport nowdays. The 1980s and back often had way less rules all over motorsport.

    Limitations are unfair how?
That means there's no salary cap in MLS, for example.
Yep. And that's why the regulations. For safety for the drivers. Especially in this sport.

    Beginning of vid:
    "Rallying is too dangerous"
    (Check the title)
Afrer vid mentions this class of vehicle came about when regulations were relaxed:
"I'm American and he said 'regulations' i don't think it's fair they have rules! "

As you can see, there are all these limitations (regulations) to make the cars comparable and, above all, safer! Without these limitations, these vehicles would be rockets with several thousand horsepower and the weight of a feather, all accidents would end in a fatal disaster!!!

Group B's downfall was the free reign on regulations. Yes the cars were immensely impressive, but that all came at a price. In that sense I see why Gr.A, Gr.N and S2000 regulations were much more sensible

WRC (world rally car class) post 2017 rule changes came really close to Group B. WRC class of cars was then replaced with Group Rally1 Hybrids.

just some facts, to that, how you began your reacts...
1984, Portugal, Henri Toivonen made some laps in Estoril F1 circuit.... would have qualified his Lancia S4 top 10 in that years f1 GP...
Imagine that on open roads, tarmac, gravel, or snow...
No other formula on earth has strickter regulations, than NASCAR. Dispite that, do you remember, how von Gisbergen made all of them look stupid in Chicago?
I hope, your bubble will pop much sooner, than later

no skid-plate causing fuel explosions with a tiny puncture of a fuel tank and incendiary livery (Lancia Delta S4), roll-cage made out of painted cardboard tubes (Lancia 037), etc that was the best era of Rallying? So when Monte Carlo smelled like roasted human flesh for weeks after the Grand Prix was the best era of F1? Give me a break!!! When Group A was replaced with WRC (World Rally Car) in a few years WRC class cars matched and sometimes exceeded the performance of Group B cars while still being safer. That was a fact. Just compare the crashes of Henri Toivonen in 1986 and Jari-Matti Latvala in Portugal 2009. Almost identical situations that ended completely differently thanks to "those pesky restrictive rules"
