- Prawn here with a behind the scenes look at what I'm doing at the moment, which is essentially a million different things including building in the Hyte Y70, using fake Lian Li fans, combatting problems with the Intel Core i9-14900K and more.
I thought it might be interesting to show what I'm up to and the problems.

I just spent half a week trying to fix my computer spontaneously rebooting. Turned out the solution was retorquing the screws for the CPU hold down frame. It's the 3rd day and it's still stable with not a single issue. Still can't find a torque screwdriver with a setting of a 0.03-0.06Nm. I am using the popular Thermalright contact frame from Amazon. Then I made sure I didn't overtighten the CPU cooler, using a EK magnitude block.
This video is so calming especially with the outside sounds!
The birds are noisy this time of year 😂
Appreciate this update and your perseverance to provide the best advice. Great content
Thanks for watching!
Thank you my friend.
Can't wait to see the Thicc review. Ill have to check out the website to see why the recommendation on the side install.
It's because the pump is in the radiator. Rather than in the CPU block. So it's about air bubbles over time
White and black case! Nice storm trooper set up.
Intel should pull all these i9 CPUs across the board.
There is clearly a major problem if their chips can’t handle the profiles all others before we’re completely fine running.
They gave the green light to these motherboard companies and said these profiles were in spec.
I could see issues popping up and these cpus degrading years down the road but this is unacceptable.
They aren’t exactly cheap.
I think consumers should be pushing back harder for them to fix this situation.
If AMD had this problem people would be in the streets with torches.
Looks like you're gonna be busy for a while! Nice to see what you are working on though, them knock off fans look interesting.
Thank you, kind Sir.
No, thank you for the support
Please do more (one take style) videos like this. It was good to hear a roundup of stuff that you’re working on for future videos. 👍🏻
Thank you my friend. 🙏🏻
Will do!
Looking forward to the content coming up,while you were mentioning the intel bios issues wasn't there another issue with the intel CPU's bending in the sockets and creating problems there as well?.
Yup
I do believe the THICC all in one has FP12 x 2 fans which ARE sold separately,
in regards to uniformity.
I considered that but they're mucho expensive and not available in the UK currently sadly.
that's how i feel about the sl 120 inf fans.
@@user5th yup. they are very pricey too.
Looking forward to the ASUS video, I have had my 14900k for two months, right from the get go I was shocked my temps would hit 95c while gaming, I’m now scared to game so I’m hoping these new intel settings help!
Shouldn't be getting that hot when gaming. See this czcams.com/video/sVEXd-Wp8FY/video.html
i wanna buy that thicc one but ill need to save a bit
When it comes to Interstellar fans, the question everybody wants to know is...
Can you make the border static white and the middle fan blades dynamic rainbow.
Is that right? Probably not with these as they're not that clever.
i'm trying to say essentially, can i use 2 colours by isolating the edge from the fan blades, i was dreaming of white Christmas, not to worry. look forward to a video as you are the perfect judge for these fans particularly.
have a msi ace max and i9 and having no issues
I'm running a 14900K in a z790 Dark Hero. You know where this is going. I've actually gotten things stable where it'll reliably give up about 37K in R23 and gaming is also stable. I did not use the Intel Baseline profile, I tuned things by hand in the BIOS and I use XTU for on the fly stuff. Oddly enough I'm right in the envelope Intel updated us with. Slightly more conservative than the 400 amps they're hard recommending as max.
Same I’m using PL=253 PL2=253 with ICCMAX 400A. As for XTU I never got it to work myself, keeps referring to bios settings
I built an i7 just to avoid i9 issues i knew were coming. Why cant i know the lottery numbers instead?😂
It is hard brother. Just came across your vid but honestly, even though the world is a little crazy and hard to fully gauge, but just stick with it and try to keep.a schedule even if it isnt every day. Seems to help with youtubes selective procedures. Rumble is better just needs more noise.
I have a few kryosheets and still havent used them yet though i want to try it. Ive seen its pretty much the same yet no thermal paste to clean up and easy to replace cooler. Seems to match my kryonaut extreme. That gets pricey though.
The only difference between the i7 and i9 is the E-core counts isn't it? Same number of P-cores, which are the ones that matter for gamers anyway.
Having the luxury of running both the 7950x3D and 13900K daily, I've been preferring the 7950x3D for gaming, and the 13900K for productivity (video edit and transcode). I have not been using the 13900K for gaming, and so have not run into any stability issues on that platform. The 7950x3D has also been perfectly stable.
Are we sure Intel's not to blame here? It seems to me their guidance isn't clear. They have three recommendations, if I'm reading this correctly, but these seem to vary based on board quality, and instead of lowering performance, they seem to be affecting stability. While I personally love the ability to tweak (Intel has this corner of the market nailed tight), I really don't like how Intel's guidance to board partners has been all over the place, and that it differs from the documentation they've been releasing to the public. It seems to me Intel has some communication issues to sort out. The parts seem fine enough, but their guidance needs work.
AMD was caught with its pants down too early on with the Zen 4 x3D chips, and again it was poor communication. They were allowing board partners to over-juice the SOC, which was killing CPUs. AMD then forced board partners to lower SOC Voltage drastically and set hard limits, and that issue was solved. Seems to me Intel's doing the same thing now with the i9 parts.
They're the same, these companies ... just different names.
👍😀
Do you happen to know if a NZXT H7 Flow can accommodate an Arctic Freezer III 360mm AIO Liquid Cooler?
Thanks.
NZXT H7 Flow - Front & top support radiators up to 360mm. Straight from the NZXT website.
@@auntiepha8343 - Ah, okay. Thanks. pcpartpicker site says it doesn’t fit.
@@auntiepha8343 I think he may have been asking about the thickness, because the Arctic LF coolers are chonky.
@@WSS_the_OG - Correct, that was the concern, the thickness.
@@WSS_the_OG I get it. But that depends on the motherboard choice as much as the AIO thickness.
That's why I build AMD systems.
AMD has had its woes too. Like allowing board partners to over-juice the SOC on x3D parts early on, and that was genuinely frying CPUs, killing them completely and permanently at "stock" settings (I kinda consider XMP / EXPO "stock"). At least Intel CPUs aren't getting cooked to death .... so there's that.
@WSS_the_OG I always wait on the last generation of cpu for current board that way all the bugs of previous generations have be worked out. I do build Intel at times but majority AMD.
just swapped my 13900k out for a 7950x... best thing i ever did.
Your late to the show the thicc is old need and sucks doesn't compare to a aio 360 like it says.
I'm late because they only just sent it to me. But that doesn't matter. People will still watch.
Yes we will 🎉
Here is a PC story for anyone it might help. I bought an open box ASUS ROG Z690-F motherboard. I didn't check all BIOS settings before I started building my PC. After owning the system for a year running Windows 10 I decided to move to Windows 11. I couldn't move to Windows 11 because of the BIOS settings. The previous owner of the open box Z690 had changed BIOS settings to Legacy from UEFI boot start-up for some unknown reason. I couldn't change the BIOS settings or my OS SSD wouldn't boot up into Windows. So.... I had to change the BIOS setting to UEFI and wipe my Windows 10 drive to install Windows 11. I couldn't upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11 on my system without fixing the BIOS. It was a strange situation having a 13700k, Z690 motherboard, RTX 3080 12GB, DDR5 RAM and four 2 TB SSD's but couldn't run Windows 11! 😀 I finally got around to it and fixed the BIOS settings and installed Windows 11.
What a pain
