    The function of food is to feed, but what if it can have a pleasant taste, even better. So is Floor's music, it's not just entertainment, it carries a message of courage and strength. Floor's life reflects that too, overcoming challenges and moving forward.

    Kelly- so good to see you again. I know how much you love family bands. I do not believe you have ever reacted to The Warning. Here is their story with some music to look into-
    The Warning is a band of 3 sisters. Daniela, Paulina, and Alejandra. They live in Monterrey, Mexico and have been rocking out as a band since 2012 (when they were 12, 10, and 7 years old)! Their parents loved music and they grew up watching and listening to rock concerts. Daniela (Dany) and Paulina (Pau) attended a music initiation class when they were 5 and 3 respectively. Alejandra (Ale’) attended the same class when she was old enough. They loved it. They all started classical piano lessons when they were between 6 and 7 years old. When Dany was 7 their dad bought them the Rock Band video game and they absolutely fell in love with rock music and performing on stage…. even though it was just a game. When Dany was 8 years old her dad asked her if she wanted to learn another instrument, along with piano. She chose the guitar. Pau chose the drums when she was 6, and Ale’ chose the bass at 6 (but was too small to play it until she was 7). Ale’ had been playing bass for all of about 1 month when they decided to play together and that was when the band was formed.
    Note- their parents never pushed them to do this. This project was 100% the girl’s decision. Their parents completely supported them but never pushed them.
    In 2014 they made a video to send to their grandparents to show them how they had progressed in their playing. The video was too big to just email so their dad uploaded it onto CZcams. It was a cover of Metallica’s Enter Sandman and it went viral! To date it has well over 24 million views and was shouted out by Metallica’s Kirk Hammett, as well as many other famous bands. The girls were caught off guard completely by the attention this video got and they had to make a decision- they quit school and started homeschooling in order to devote as much time as possible to their music. They were 100% committed to this project and have never slowed down since (practicing 2 hours a day separately and another 2 hours together daily).
    In 2015 they released an EP called Escape the Mind.
    They released their first album in 2017 called XXI Century Blood (21st Century Blood)
    They released their second album in 2018 called Queen of the Murder Scene. It was a concept album telling the story of a young woman’s journey from desire, to love, to infatuation, to obsession, to psychotic, to murder, to remorse, and finally to suicide. It was an amazing album and was up for an Independent Music award in 2019.
    They just released (in 2022) their third album (first since signing to Lava Records) called Error. It is simply amazing!
    Dany sings lead on about 75% if the songs. Pau sings lead on about 25% of the songs. Ale’ is a little shy about singing lead but steps in and sings lead when needed. All 3 can literally jump in and sing lead on any song if needed (with no real drop-off in quality) and their harmonies in songs are simply amazing!
    They have opened for several great bands including Alice Cooper, Def Lepard, Stryper, The Foo Fighters, The Pretty Wreckless, Halestorm, Three Days Grace, Guns n Roses, and others. It was just announced that they would be the (not one of but they only) opening act for their absolute idols Muse during their Mexico shows.

    Bonus- In 2021 Metallica asked 53 artists (including The Warning) to take any of the 12 iconic songs from their Black album and do a cover (any way they wanted to) for their Black List album, commemorating the 30th anniversary of the Black album. Alessia Cara (Canadian pop star) was also asked to participate but had no idea what to do. Because she shares the same management group as The Warning, she contacted them for help. It was difficult to do as Alessia was in Canada and The Warning were in Mexico and travel with COVID was not happening. They made it work and developed/recorded this completely re-imagined song in one week. They created the music video with the same logistical restrictions. Because of that you will see that Alessia appears as a projection on the wall in the video as she was not there. It was recorded in an abandoned textile mill outside of Monterrey, Mexico: czcams.com/video/9tKQgesCcTc/video.html
    This is just the basics about the band- there is sooo much more to learn about these incredible ladies of rock!
    As The Warning Army says- You’ve Been Warned!

      The song was written, by Floor, for the Inflicted Games. It is about PTSD, but one can also relate to it with other trauma.
      Like what policeman or firefighters go through.
      Or being in a house fire yourself.
      It is a powerful song of hope.

    Fabulous Floor can make any kind of song shine beyond its means, especially in her live performances. So we're really looking forward to seeing her perform her solo tracks in 2023 (though I wouldn't mind the occasional nod to AF/ReVamp/NW). Already got tickets for her shows so I'm excited, even if it means listening to this one. For musically - and however well-intentioned the message, it's a rather generic sounding poppy-rock song to me (as in commercials) that imo really doesn't deserve Floor's stellar vocals. Cheers from Amsterdam! 🖤🤘

      "Even if it means listening to this one" 😂 Man, you're killing me. Not with silence though.
      As I've commented on Sue's reaction "appreciate the intention, not the delivery." No massive WoT this time, but the "deep silence between the notes" must on itself be eloquent enough.
      I think a message like this requires a much more serious genre than pop. Prog metal would be fine, but our Goddess is not very metal these days. I still refuse to believe that this change is permanent.
      NOBODY deserves her stellar vocals. Well, maybe Arjen does, but even he won't write a 30 minute piece for her alone to sing. (Though Tommy Karevik did - but it was for himself.)
      I want to ask you a question: do you think that her decision to go pop is 100% hers? Or is it part of some elaborate plan or, perhaps, the only condition Tuomas would accept her having a solo project on? Because we know how it normally ends when one of his instruments comes up with something creative.

      @@noneofyerbeeswax8194 Haha, great comment. Yes, can't tell you how much I like this song, because there's not much to tell. Or is there? Need a WoT? Check under the orig music video. I could try a link [.. but YT refuses ..] I'll get back to yr Q soon.

      @@BrendonChase_2015 Found it. Now I have even more questions which nobody will answer.
      She's smart. That's one of a million reasons why she's so awesome. So she must know very well what she's doing. But why?

    • @BrendonChase_2015
      @BrendonChase_2015 Před rokem +1

      @@noneofyerbeeswax8194 Yup, your guess is as good as mine (probably better, i.e. the Tuomas thingy). Floor's mission was to bring the masses to metal. And she did via "Beste Zangers" and "Sing Meinen Song". So whence the poppy turn and the statements in interviews that she'd already been a metal singer for over 20yrs, suggesting it was high time for a change? Doesn't make sense on the face of it, one would think. Interesting years lying in wait ;)

    • @noneofyerbeeswax8194
      @noneofyerbeeswax8194 Před rokem +1

      @@BrendonChase_2015 Yeah, her popularity skyrocketed after the TV shows. Proof that the eyes of most people are still firmly attached to the idiot box and if you can't make an appearance there, you won't be very popular no matter how talented you are. All official statements have to be taken with a grain, if not a pound of salt. It's funny watching some of her interviews: girl is not very good at bullshitting.😂
      Turning pop after 20+ years in metal makes no sense at all. I think she mentioned somewhere that she briefly considered a classical career after AF disbanded. That would be the most logical thing to do. But of course, you'll never make as much money there as you can in pop - presumed you WILL be popular which is not guaranteed at all.
      There is a problem though: in order to keep or increase the popularity, Nightwish cannot deviate from their current sound too much, and it's already far from trve kvlt metal. So I don't know. We'll see.
      Another problem is the increased cost of everything. For some bands, touring might be not worth it anymore. I think virtual shows will become more common in the future. Everything is becoming more virtual and less real, and I don't like it at all.
