All the respect for your very open and honest message about your life a few hours ago.
    Touching and heartwarming your courage.
Great words in your comment. Yes, it doesn't go away and yes, it is not something that is to define you if you are able to "live" with it after treatment, such as EMDR.
    As stated, all the respect!!!!!!!
Wonder, wonder, wonderful song with meaningful and strong lyrics.
Have been working in social psychiatry for 45 years, and seen and treated many women and men suffering from PTSD.
Because of war trauma (during my military service) or because of instant trauma (robbery, heavy accident) mental, physical or sexual abuse.
An important factor in treatment, imho, was listening to or making music. Metal, rock, pop, jazz, blues, classic or whatever, it was of no importance. Music was relaxing, cleared even the mind and lessened pain.
And what I read in many comments is hoe Floor's and Nightwish' music has a kind of healing effect.
I myself get in in state of total relaxation listening to Floor and?or Nightwish.
And good pop, rock, jazz and classic music is equally appreciated!
    Greetings from The Netherlands.

    Hi Debbie!
I think my comment on the other thread got lost in the ether, but I just wanted add that depression can sneak up on you. I never thought that I was at risk of any kind of mental illness, but after some health issues I lost my job. In late 2018 I became homeless. (This was totally unnecessary, I could have easily avoided it with the support systems available to me, but I literally couldn't motivate myself to get out of bed for months.) I was lucky enough to be referred to a homeless shelter, and never had to sleep outdoors. After a few months the local council rehomed me and paid for me to work with a company that worked with me to get me ready for employment again. The thing is, I was totally depressed and did not realise it. I did not FEEL bad, but looking back I can tell that I was convinced that I was unemployable. It took most of a year to restore my confidence and get a new job. My life has mostly been easy and it was shocking to me I that turned out to be vulnerable to mental illness. Props to Floor, and to you for being brave and honest enough to share your truth with us all!

A lot of people, who never thought that mental health was even an issue,
especially for themselves, have found out a few home truths since the onset of the pandemic.
Being made redundant twice, made me feel guilty for being alive,
"Social Services" could see the negative impact, but were unable to assist,
it had to come from me.
So, HOW is THAT going to happen?
How can you ask for help, if you don't even realise that you have a problem, it's all in your head?
The Cranberries: "Zombie", woke me up!
People who make the rules, may never have had that sort of experience,
they have absolutely no idea, but view it simplistically: "Oh, snap out of it!".
The sort of food you eat can have a dramatic effect on mood,
"Junk" food, high in chemicals, sugars, additives for preservation, hmm, I wonder?
Is it a concerted campaign to dumb down the population?
You can observe the effect in the streets, compare it to other countries
(a benefit of travel abroad, it give you a wider perspective).
My way out was to volunteer for a charity, helping others,
they were more forgiving than any employer, it changed me too.

I was in the Army stationed at Ft Hood tx. My roommate George had been a medic in Vietnam. He would sometimes have what we called a "Flashback" .. with his PTSD he would be re-living horrors. I would just sit with him and talk .. until that horror became just an old memory .. not something that had happened "just now".

This one is a tough song for me, since I suffer from PTSD from all the surgeries I went through.
Long story short, I was born with spina bifida and later on developed hydrocephalus. My first surgery was at 4 days old, to remove the cist and put on a catheter that run from the top of my head all the way down to my abdominal area, pumping the cerebrospinal fluid.
Nothing major happened till I was 12 and fell very ill, my pediatric neurologist at the time couldn't find out what was happening, she just kept operating on me, changing the catheter over and over again until I was so so sick, that my mom thought I was going to die so she took me to see another doctor, there they told her I had a bad case of meningitis and they had to get me into the operating room asap, and they did.
I was very weak, I had to be fed through a tube in my nose, all the veins in my arms, neck and legs had been punctured so they had to do a phlebotomy on my thigh, so that I could receive the rest of my antibiotics and other treatments.
Remember, I was a child, barely 12 years old, I turned 13 in the hospital, but shortly after, I was discharged and returned home. In total, there were nine unnecessary surgeries in one year (not counting those from when I was a baby since there were no complications) that left me in an extreme panic mode, about everything related to doctors, nurses, their clothes, and of course, needles, I hate needles. They give me instant anxiety.

You are spot on - our background history does not have to define us. It will color our choises but we can choose to be positive in our approach to life and our surroundings - use what we have learned, experienced and survived up til now - as input to a positive and open mind. Our personal stories must never be a contest - but could be used as input in a dialog to another angle or a wider perspective. (dialog between people creates progress and evolution).
And look what you did - your last but important message, got me into writing mode 😂.
    Back to 'invincible'!
In my opinion, it doesn't matter if Floor tell the story in metal, rock, pop or classical - her techniques cuts right through our natural defenses, and hit our historic memories - but metal music and Tuomas's words, enhances her storytelling - especially the ballads!
And what a perfect choise right after your message - you have a way of making a point 👍
In my opinion - your number of followers has increased (and will continue) because you are not pretending, just being honest and yourself. You are here for the music, and you dive deeper when you find something that appeals to you - due to your background - just like all of us. You are a true Nightwish Army member, because the music fits into our minds and starts emotions and passion.
And I'm still writing 🤣 bye for now and Greetings from Nightwish Army Denmark 🇩🇰 👍 💪 🤘 🤘 🤘
But! I have a request which is a very rare reacted to Nightwish song called 'Carpenter' (ballad and important - and beautiful story)

It's great how Nightwish or its members talk about difficult things in their songs. Often about very important things. That's one more thing I like about them.
And the power of music should never be underestimated.
The attached video talks about the effect of metal music on people's mental health. The video was published in 2022.
(EN) Heavy Metal Saved My Life - feat. Iron Maiden, Mastodon | Fans | Preview | Episode 1/2 |S01E01
    czcams.com/video/NUzJU3POSE8/video.html
Finland's Yleisradio published an article on 14 February 2023 with the title "Heavy music has been studied to improve the mind and now it has also been chosen as a mental health theme". (This is the theme of 2023.)
By the way, according to a study published a few years ago, every third Finn thinks heavy rock or metal music is the best. If there are about 5.5 million inhabitants in Finland, then 1.8 million Finns love metal music.
Below are a few quotes from the news:
    - "The cultural theme of the Mental Health Confederation is metal music. It's a great way to deal with painful issues."
    - "The union has recruited Northern Kings guitarist Erkka Korhonen, the founder of the Heavy Christmas tour, as the messenger of the theme."
    - "Several studies show that metal music helps its listeners deal with difficult topics, from the fear of death to anxiety."
    - "Fans in particular feel that listening to heavy music has a positive effect on their mood. Heavy music could, for example, reduce suicidal thoughts or act as a buffer against them."
BTW. Finland's biggest annual metal festival ("Tuska") has for years been an event where the police have not been needed. Metal lovers go to the festival for the music, not to fight...
At the summer 2022 festival, I only saw two people who had drunk too much alcohol. However, there were around 15,000-20,000 people there every day. And those two were also very quiet, not bothering anyone...
