    Personally, I was never sure that the Empire truly hunted Yoda. What greater punishment could the Emperor inflict on his enemy, as having him watch, *feel* the destruction of his order, his students, unable to intervene, unable to do a thing, just forced to feel as they are snuffed out?

      In the "Heir to the Empire" Trilogy its also noted that when expert force users die they release a storm of dark force energy.

      That was the old EU explanation put forth by George Lucas and Timothy Zahn in the original Thrawn Trilogy. It was supposed to have been a cave where a powerful darksider hid until Yoda defeated him there. The Dark Side corruption of the cave following his death along with the living Force near the cave made it the perfect place to mask the presence of Master Yoda and prevent his being found.

    Dude, they literally put Vader's son on Anakin's HOME PLANET with his RELATIVES where Anakin HAS BEEN BEFORE and let him still go by the name Luke SKYWALKER and was well-known to have a friend named Ben KENOBI who was a STRANGE OLD MAN, and yet they never found he was around.
    Yoda could've literally gone to a planet called YODA LIVES HERE and the Empire wouldn't have found him.
    Also
    Order 66. Kill Yoda. Immediately once that's done, kill every other Jedi.

    • @cainabel6356

      Well technically, Yoda did lose. Could Yoda have won, yes. The problem is that Yoda was sopposedly going dark and he stopped or he saw the future of what was to come. I think he lost because he fell that distance, and then saw the future of what was to come, so he decided to retreat and say he failed. Instead he did win, but in the long run with Luke and Anakin defeating the Emperor.

      The novelization of Revenge of the Sith speaks on this moment when Yoda realized he had lost, and more importantly, WHY he had lost
      "Finally, he saw the truth. This truth: that he, the avatar of light, Supreme Master of the Jedi Order, the fiercest, most implacable, most devastatingly powerful foe the darkness had ever known... just didn't have it. He had never had it. He had lost before he started... before he was born. The Sith had changed. The Sith had grown, had adapted, had invested a thousand years' intensive study into every aspect of not only the Force but Jedi lore itself, in preparation for this exact day. The Sith had remade themselves. They had become new... The Jedi had spent the same millennium trying to re-fight the last war. The new Sith could not be destroyed by a lightsaber; they could not be burned away by any torch of the Force."

    I always looked at it as a scenario where Palpatine never actually tried searching for him, he knew he won and knew Yoda had lost everything and wouldn't dare to try and oppose his Empire again. It also wasn't his disposition to try and restart the Jedi Order or assist the rebels, so why bother?
    Palpatine was sadistic to where perhaps it was more satisfying to leave Yoda with whatever years he had left alone with his failures and reflecting the loss of his home, family, friends etc than simply killing him.

Rey found a dark space on the second death star wreckage where she encountered her self in sith form. There is also a spot on Luke's island planet that rey enters that is very Dark. I didn't think the Emperor hunted for Yoda or had agents of the Empire hunt for Yoda. After the duel with Yoda, Palpatine was busy enough running the Empire. He likely no longer saw Yoda as a threat at that point, since the Jedi order was mostly snuffed out, and he had Vader dealing with any surviving Jedi. However, Yoda probably selected Dagobah because it was full of force energy/dark side energy and would mask his own force signature.

    I say that yoda went as far away as he could. and the whole story about being able to sense other force users doesnt hold water for a few reasons;
    1. Vader only sensed luke when he could almost see him, he detected his sister becouse of luke.
    2. The counsil knew about a sith lord for YEARS, but were never able to track him, not even when he stood right beside him (and palpatine was on the same level as yoda)
    3. Obiwan supports point 2, and the jedi didnt sense anakin untill he actualy showed off, so the whole ''sensing the force'' is exaderated hocus pocus.
    I say the dark side cant realy locate the light side and visa versa, as proven by anakin skywalker when he became darth vader. he couldnt sense his wife or childeren anymore, so he thought they died. and that guy had crazy talent.
    So yoda just moving as far away as possible, finding a planet he could easely hide in (and maybe looked a little like his home planet?) was the most likely explaination.
    With dagoba being a ''useless'' wilderness made it perfect, the empire would have no interest.
    The theory that dagoba being a sith planet makes it a HORRIBLE idea to live there, especialy since it would attract sith on pergrimage or vacation or whatever (you know, those who can sense force users)

    However, in in one of the 1990s novels, there was a plant or creature that nulls the force. These could be around the planet as well. But this could create concentration of the force. So I do not think the force nulling plants/creatures will work.

    Pausing to look at the scene of the aftermath of Knightfall, only to see that there's scores of Jedi bodies, but no clone troopers anywhere except for a couple. Did the clones recover the bodies of their brethren and leave the Jedi bodies to rot on the floor? Or are the Jedi just so awful that they die like redshirts? The way of the Jedi is hard, but Jedi are capable. Padawans less so, but that's why they're Padawans. Things like being stuck in open combat, not using their surroundings, not letting the force guide their actions - these are things they should be doing, but instead they just get killed in a few seconds. There's a lot of critique I can offer simply from that image. I mean, we see the arena battle of Geonosis and even with all those droids there overwhelmed by vast odds, tons of Jedi survived that, and that was in a heavily disadvantaged position.
    Jedi fighting on their home turf, using their training and the force? Honestly, I'm surprised the clones won at ALL. I know its a story - but those are people who are smart, capable, and tough, and know what they're doing. Throwing away non main characters to prove a point is disingenuous to an intelligent character, and even more so for *any* Jedi. The kids? Sure. Believable. Not the adults though.

    Imagine if right after Yoda's Equally Matched fight with Palpatine and after he helped Obi-Wan hide Luke, that he accidentally ran into Darth Maul (who is still Angered after Palpatine killed his brother). The Story could be that Yoda and Maul agree to join forces. Yoda Trains Maul in the way he did Dooku, resulting in Maul's advancing his Force Powers (Force Lighting and Telekinesis) and Fight Skills. Yoda and Maul wait for their moment to attack or combat Vader and Darth Sidious while Boss Nass has the Gun-Gin Army ambush the Clones!

    The theory about the effect of Dagobah in Force ghosts is cool, fits the evidence you brought up from throughout the original trilogy, and nicely supports your larger argument connecting Yoda's refuge conceptually to the background from the prequels, but isn't it contradicted by The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker? @jacob4920 Před 2 lety +2

    I always just assumed that he went to a world that was so far out in the "boondocks" of the galaxy, that hardly anybody was even aware of the planet's existence. Not only that, but it was unsettled by any advanced lifeforms, which would have made it a virtual "afterthought" to the galactic center in the first place.
    In real-world terms, that's like somebody moving into a small cabin, in the far north of Canada (or somewhere in Siberia). And telling NOBODY that they lived there. A person could literally go the entire remainder of his life without running into another human being under such circumstances. And that's on a planet that's already pretty "crowded" with human beings on it. Now multiply this by an entire galaxy's worth of hundreds of civilized worlds, and you start to get the picture.
    Also, Palpatine had no reason to look for Yoda. At no point does Palpatine, after becoming Emperor, see Yoda as any sort of a threat. He sees Luke Skywalker as a threat, but Luke did blow up a friggin DEATH STAR at one point, so that's understandable. But Yoda? No. Yoda simply disappears, as Obi-wan did. Speaking of whom... Are we even going to wonder how and why a Force-user as powerful as Obi-wan Kenobi was able to hide, for twenty years, on a planet as well-known, and highly populated as TATOOINE?!
    Seems like finding Jedi, after the first handful of years of the Empire's existence, was not really a big deal to the Sith anymore.

  • @sdgojdfpghj
    @sdgojdfpghj Před 2 lety +1

  • @paulhiggins6433
    @paulhiggins6433 Před 2 lety

    There are two reasons. One, as others have said, is that there are places on Dagobah that have a very strong connection to the dark side. Second, as explained by the expanded universe books, the dense jungles provided a massive amount of life energy to mask his own powerful presence with the force. Since all things have the force, it would be difficult to find just one being in such a planet. He became the figurative needle in the haystack.

      @@Cats-2079 Dang man. Chill. Most of us know these stories.. Still haven't seen the video and from what I recall of the old Expanded Universe that ole KK wiped out... Yoda went to Dagobah because it was surrounded by the Dark Side of the Force.
      Like the small white dot in the sea of blackness in the I'Ching symbol...
      Hidden right next to the dark side.. kinda like Palpatine did with the Jedi.. he was the dark spot in the sea of white...
      Anyways... I'll watch the video later to see if the OP got it right. (LOL)
      But in reality ... it is what the damn producers say.
